Character and background book for Night Watch Series

The Assassin's Guild

Mick "The Undying" Mars (origin- Mötley Crüe)

Mick, the Lead Assassin, is pale as death and has, thus far, been severely underestimated by every single one of his enemies. It is widely believed by essentially everyone that he is, in fact, already dead, which explains why he seemingly can't be killed. It is virtually unheard of for any Assassin to live past 400 years, yet Mick is somewhere in his sixth century, though his age is even a mystery. He is a quiet man that is virtually one with the shadows when it suits him. What is truly remarkable about Mick is that he has a terrible form of arthritis that has fused many of his joints, and lives in constant pain. Yet, somehow, despite moving little, each movement he makes is deft and often deadly.

Mick has rather ghastly wings

Robin 'Agent' Moulder (origin- Jack Off Jill, TCR)

Robin has proven through time to be a potent adversary, having survived where friends of hers, over time, have fallen. Though few realize it, she has actually just reached her fifth century, almost unheard of as an Assassin. She is a master of poisons and has had bad experiences working with others and now works alone exclusively. She is extremely strong-willed.

The 'Motionless in White' Group:

Assassins usually work alone, and traditionally they have almost exclusively done so. Fairly recently, when a group of friends completed their Training at the same time and joined the Assassins, Mick was initially very concerned that their comradeship would cause an even higher rate of casualties than normal. Most Assassins (greater than 90%) die within 5 years of joining. However, he found that their knowledge of each other gave them some sort of intangible advantage in some situations, especially when working with the Watchmen. Over time, the rag-tag, unofficial group got the nickname 'Motionless in White,' or just 'Motionless,' (especially after Kyle's death).

Chris 'Motionless' Cerulli (origin- Motionless in White)

Chris became the default leader of Motionless. Some think it's because he's anal-retentive, gets results, and is very skilled. Ricky thinks it's because he's the tallest and has eye-catching eyebrows. Chris likes to be in control of his faculties, and so he doesn't indulge in drink or anything else. Chris is somewhat famed for performing heroic deeds and saving the day. Though, in reality, all of Motionless were generally responsible for saving the day together, and Chris is constantly trying to tell people that, young, awe-struck women aren't very apt to listening.

Most of the Wild Ones are convinced that Chris and Andrew hate one another and that Chris is secretly trying to murder Andrew. Who started the rumor, no one knows, but it was juicy and about two of the Tribe's young, favored heroes in a supposed rivalry, so it carried on. Chris can't stand that everyone thinks that about him, but can never find Andrew to try and make a show about not hating him, (because Andrew is a totally maudlin hermit and a recluse, in mourning for his beloved Juliet).

Angelo Parente (origin- Motionless in White, Black Casket Tattoo)

Angelo is a more of an observer, really, in the sense that he truly does not care for any glory. He's very good at what he does, but gets a bit anxious with some of the fanfare that the so-called 'Motionless' group has generated. He didn't become an Assassin, after all, with the intention that it would lead to teenage girls following him around. Luckily, he far more skilled than Andrew at giving them the slip.

Josh Balz (origin: Motionless in White, The Strange & Unusual Oddities Parlor)

Josh, Angelo, and Chris have known each other for a long time. Josh completed his Training the year after Angelo and Chris, and some time passed before Ryan and Ricky joined. Josh is rather mellow for an Assassin. Like Chris, he doesn't drink or the like, as he likes to keep a clear head. Josh has a penchant for collecting bizarre knick-knacks, and they fill most of the corners of his home.

Ryan Sitkowski (origin- Motionless in White)

Ryan is rather a classic Assassin, in the sense that he is somewhat reserved, away from those he knows well. He also prefers to the shadows to the glory, and doesn't at all mind that the young ladies of the village have a tendency to focus on Chris and Ricky when the public eye falls on the Motionless for something they've accomplished. He prefers his privacy.

Ricky 'Horror' Olson (origin- Motionless in White, Gift of Prophecy)

Ricky has a major problem. The women of the tribe are completely crazy about him. Young girls in training will swoon if they see he and Chris walking by, they even write perverted little stories about it! Thankfully, Ricky, being very slight, is almost as gifted as Mick at disappearing into cracks and crevices so as to allude pursuing, salivating girls. Chris is skilled too, but he's a lot taller, and gangly. Sometimes, that's a disadvantage. (When desperate, Chris has sometimes pointed in the distance and said, 'look, there's [Andrew/Ashley/such and such of such and such Watch] and made a run for the nearest roof.)

Angelo suggested to Ricky that the hordes of womenfolk have to do with how tight his britches are, but Ricky insists that it's absolutely necessary to help him be stealthy. Angelo isn't so sure. After all, Mick's pants aren't painted on, and he does just fine... Also, don't make jokes about being short to Ricky. Just don't.

Devin 'Ghost' Sola (origin- Motionless In White)

Devin ended up joining the Motionless rather by coincidence. When he completed Training, he proved to be a master of disguise and deception. Able to infiltrate many enemy camps simply by walking in, he amazed Chris and his friends, and they quickly became comrades. Devin joined after the period of heavy losses the Motionless experienced earlier on. Since Devin has joined, only Brandon has been lost. Devin is very quiet, even for an Assassin. He's also eccentric (again, by an Assassin's standards), but his friends are quite protective of him. Not that they really need to be. Devin is also very gifted with all manner of knives.

Vinny Mauro (origin- Motionless in White)

Vinny knows, as the newer guy out of Training, everyone is going to give him a hard time for a while. But seriously, he thinks he's doing a pretty decent job just not dying. Can't he get a little credit for that, at least? He is constantly reminded that he's never been there to see another Motionless fall, never felt the loss, but it's not like there aren't other Assassins, not like he hadn't seen them dropping like flies! Not like he hadn't snuck his way through a battle with the rest of them, bodies hitting the ground like ripe fruit, on their way to exterminate the leaders. But, whatever. What would he know, he's just a kid, right?

The deceased among the Assassins are too numerous to name. Some of the more recently deceased, that were members or close friends of the Motionless group, include:

Kyle White (origin- Motionless in White)

Kyle was the first of the Motionless to fall, and Chris took the loss very personally. It gave him a new drive and sense of responsibility for the group, he had seen Kyle as an equal, and saw his death first-hand.

Frank Polumbo (origin- Motionless in White)

Frank had completed Training with Chris, Angelo, and Kyle, and had been with the Motionless from the beginning. When he was killed, it hit them all hard. He had, like Josh, been an abnormally affable fellow for an Assassin. Also uncommon for an Assassin, he had been a Dusk Fae.

Mike "Kuza" Costanza (origin- Kuza, Motionless in White)

While Mike was still alive, he and Chris were plagued by most peoples' inability to tell them apart. This despite the fact that Mike was considerably more flamboyant, outspoken, loved attention, and fond of accessories and more modification in general. Angelo always attributed it to their eyebrows and mutual weakness for cosmetics.

TJ Bell (origin- Escape the Fate, The Dead Rabbits, Motionless in White, Get Scared)

TJ is strictly not discussed around Chris and is a sensitive topic in general. The short version is that they had a disagreement about procedures during a mission, TJ went off on his own, and didn't come back alive. Chris blames himself for letting him go, though the others know it was a long time coming.

Kimber Parrish (origin- Motionless in White)

Kimber preceded Devin by just over a year, and had a very similar skill set as a master of disguise. She was killed fairly recently, very shortly after joining the Motionless, during the Troll Raid three years ago.

Brandon 'Rage' Richter (origin- A Skylit Drive, Motionless in White, The Witch Was Right)

Brandon was lost very recently as well, not long after joining the Motionless, when the Assassins were executing a covert mission to try and gather information on what appears to be alarmingly large forces of trolls gathering in unprecedented numbers. He is the last member of the Motionless to have been lost as of the beginning of the Night Watch story. Vinny joined shortly after he was killed.

Notes

trivia: Mick Mars does, in fact, suffer from ankylosing spondylitis, and is an example to us all of what you can do to overcome your challenges and live through pain.
