Love And Other Drugs

The Cozy Getaway

Summer was over and the cool breeze that was coming off of the mountains sent a slight shiver up Luxe's spine. She pulled her sweater around her shoulders more with her free hand, her other hand holding a cup of hot apple cider. Looking around, Luxe could see that the leaves were already changing their colors and suddenly she realized how much she missed being on the East Coast.

Luxe and Andy had decided to take a small vacation to the mountains in Tenessee-a place where they could hole up in a cabin for a week and not have to worry about anything.

There were no fans, no nasty social media messages and no judgment. There were also no bandmates-standing around with their arms crossed as they glared at the couple and questioned whether or not Luxe and Andy were actually good for one another. Best of all there were no music producers-no Alex running around them, asking them how they were doing or if they needed anything.

The manager and producer had become an irritation to the couple-constantly trying to prove to them that he was supportive. Luxe didn't believe it for a second, she knew Alex and she knew he did nothing without there being something in it for him.

Luxe had come outside, leaving Andy to make dinner as she had wanted to enjoy the scenery from their wrap around deck one last time. They had spent the past six days in seclusion, but sadly it was time for them to pack up and head back home to LA. Andy had a tour to get ready for-Bullet For My Valentine were flying out to LA in a week, where the tour would start.

The couple hadn't spent much time talking about whether or not Luxe was going with him, but she knew it was coming. Andy had hinted at the topic several times that day and Luxe braced herself for the inevitable.

She did want to go with him-desperately.

But Luxe knew that there would be a lot of temptations on the road and while Andy was a good influence, even he had partied over the summer. The thing was-temptation was all around her and Luxe was just going to have to face it. If she went with Andy, there would be alcohol and drugs all around on tour, but at home she would probably lapse in to a depression.

This was the one reason why Luxe hadn't wanted to get back with Andy-she missed him so much when he was gone or they were away from one another that she felt the need to self medicate.

Luxe sighed as she looked around-the trees waved to her in a soft breeze, the backdrop filled with snow capped mountains and Evergreen furs. It was so peaceful out here and she wished she could stay forever, but Luxe knew she needed to head back inside and start packing her things.

It had been amazing being here with Andy-they slept in till noon, made love and then would tumble out of bed and make lunch together. The first day they just stayed in bed, making love and napping in one another's arms, but by the second day they had ventured out to the small town, holding hands as they walked down the sidewalk.

No one gawked at them, no one stopped them for pictures or autographs and most of all-they were happy with one another. Sighing, Luxe took a sip of her cooling cider and almost spit it out as she felt a pair of arms snake around her middle. She was pulled against the broad chest behind her, a pierced nose nuzzling in to her neck and all Luxe could do was shut her eyes and wish they could stay like this forever.

"What happened to dinner?" She asked softly, her eyes still closed and she smiled as Andy 'hmmd' in her ear lowly.

"It's in there...should be done in a few minutes." Andy said, his lips grazing across the skin of her cheek and Luxe only smiled. Setting the cup down on the ledge of the porch, she turned to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck as she clasped her hands together.

"And what are we having?" She asked, gazing in to his eyes as he smirked at her. Those blue eyes matched the sky behind them and Luxe felt her heart begin to ache as she realized that she would be without those eyes for a few months.

"Baked rosemary chicken. Potatoes. Broccoli." He said, kissing her neck with each word and Luxe only smiled.

"Oh look at you...I didn't think you knew how to cook." Luxe teased and Andy only chuckled, his breath resting against her skin and making goosebumps pop up on her arms.

"That's really the only thing I do know how to cook. Mom texted me the recipe." He said, holding on to her tightly. Andy rested his chin on Luxe's shoulder, looking out around them to see the world they would be leaving behind.

"Can we just stay here forever?" Luxe asked, her tone breathy and filled with need.

If Andy had it his way, they would live in this little two bedroom cabin at the foot of a mountain for the rest of their lives. He could get some kind of job-they both could work-and then they could come home and make dinner together, eating in front of the fireplace where they would then cuddle up on winter nights, talking about their plans for the future. It could be a good life, but it was not a life that would make him entirely happy.

Andy loved music and he could never imagine giving it up.

Not even for Luxe.

"I wish." Andy said, smiling against her skin and Luxe only giggled. Turning around, Luxe faced Andy, placing her hands on his cheeks as she leaned in a pressed her lips against his.

"We could you know...we could buy this place, build on to it. You could have a home studio or something..." She suggested, her sculpted brows raising at the idea and Andy could only smile.

"Sounds amazing." Andy said as he looked down at her, his blue eyes twinkling with mischief.

"But impractical." She sighed, pulling away as she ran a hand through her long blonde hair, pushing her bangs out of her face. Out of all the 'looks' Luxe had ever had, Andy liked this one the best. She had extensions in, but her hair was back to its natural cool blonde color, with some darker blonde strands woven in. She looked natural-healthy.

"Yeah-I don't think the fans would stay away for too long." Andy said and they both laughed at the thought. Both of their bands had very passionate fan bases and they would freak out if The Hollywood Dolls and Black Veil Brides just called it quits because their singers wanted to disappear from the world.

"Smells like dinner's ready." Luxe said, changing the subject before it got too serious.

Andy's eyes grew wide as he rushed inside, leaving her alone to her thoughts as he finished things up. Luxe sighed, tucking her hair behind her ears as she grabbed for her mug and held it in both hands while she walked towards the back door. Before entering the cozy little cabin, Luxe turned and took in the scenery once more.

The sun was fading below the mountains, the sky being painted a pale blue with streaks of pink and deep indigo. It was gorgeous and without pause Luxe pulled out her phone and snapped a picture of the perfect ending to their perfect little getaway.

Turning to the kitchen, Luxe pulled the door shut behind her, welcoming the warm air that seemed to envelope her. Andy was behind the bar, cutting up the chicken as it's delicious aroma filled the small space. Luxe took a seat at the counter, her mug sitting beside her and Andy only smiled as he quickly replaced the mug with a glass of iced tea.

Luxe would love a glass of wine, but she didn't want to push Andy this close to his leaving her for a tour.

Luxe had cheated a few times-having a glass of wine here and there, but she stopped at one and was still proud of herself for that.

"Smells really good babe." Luxe stated, watching as Andy made up two plates and then smirked at her as he placed one in front of her before taking a seat beside her.

"Thanks." He smiled at her, a fork in one hand and her free hand in his other.

They lapsed in to silence then, digging in to their final dinner together in this little cabin and Luxe knew it was a bittersweet moment. Luxe ate her food, but it fell in to her stomach like a stone-she knew what was coming after this meal and Luxe wasn't really looking forward to it. Andy wanted to talk about the coming weeks and as she finished her meal and Andy stood and moved to wash the dishes, Luxe knew it was coming sooner rather than later.

Soon enough Luxe found herself being handed another mug of hot cider and Andy had a hand against the small of her back and was leading her towards the small living room. There was a fire roaring in the fireplace, with all of the pillows and blankets from the couches on the floor in front, a lovely little nest for them to curl up in.

Luxe sat down, her legs spread out before her and Andy only smiled as he took his own seat and tossed a plush blanket over top of the both of them. Luxe smiled softly as she placed the mug on the floor beside her and then moved to curl up against Andy's chest. He wrapped an arm around her, holding on to her tightly as he pressed his lips to her head and closed his eyes.

It was now or never.

"So, we've been avoiding this subject for an entire week..." Andy began and Luxe only sighed as she opened her eyes and moved away from him slightly. It wasn't because she was angry with him, it was so that she could see his face as they spoke.

"I-I know. I've been thinking about it all week, but didn't want to ruin anything." Luxe said sadly and Andy could only nod. He understood-she was telling him that she was staying home.

"You could never ruin anything for me Luce...never." He said as he placed a hand against her cheek, rubbing his thumb across her bottom lip. Luxe's grey eyes closed slowly, her head tilting in to his touch-she loved these moments with him.

"So you'd be okay with me sitting this one out?" She asked, her eyes popping open. Luxe was scared of looking Andy in the eye-of seeing his sadness-but it wasn't there. Instead he was smiling at her gently, his eyes filled with nothing but love and support.

"If that's what you think is the best option." He said and Luxe could now hear the sadness in his tone. Andy wanted her there-he wanted her to be with him so that he could protect her from her worst enemy.

Herself.

"I want to give it a try. I'm just worried that the stress of touring will bring out some habits...plus I don't want to ruin anyone else's good time." She explained and Andy only nodded. He got that, but it didn't make him any less sad.

"I don't think you could ruin anyone's fun, but I do agree that the stress would probably cause you some problems." They seemed to come to an agreement and that made Luxe happy. She didn't want to fight over this-she just wanted to spend as much time together as they could.

"I love you Andy and hey-I could always come out and visit." She said and Andy only nodded, smiling as their lips met in a sweet kiss that would soon turn in to something much sweeter and more passionate.

Andy knew that Luxe was right and it was true that she could always come out to visit. The only bad thing was that he had been through this situation before...with Scout and it hadn't ended well.

Notes

Will Luxe be okay with Andy being on the road?

Review to find out<3

P.S-Notice this wasn't updated for a week? Well that's because no one has reviewed the last few chapters. I try to be understanding, but I put a lot of hard work in to this story for you guys and it really makes my day to get some reviews-of any kind. So, more reviews=more updates per week.

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
