Love And Other Drugs

Final Departure

"Luce? Luce are you alright?" He asked as Andy sat across from his girlfriend at the kitchen table. She was biting down on her lower lip so hard he could swear he saw blood being drawn.

What the hell was going on?

"Luce you're scaring me." Andy said and watched as Luxe seemed to inhale deeply, swirl her fork through the pasta on her plate and take another bite of food. Did she have anything to say about his news? Anything at all.

"Well aren't you excited? That means the Dolls might be able to get on the DVD aswell..." Andy continued, stupidly thinking if he kept talking that somehow it would make things better.
It wouldn't.

"Y-yeah...that's really great Andy." Luxe said as she swallowed her bite of food and avoided his gaze.

She should of known-Luxe should of guessed that Andy wasn't going to propose. All he had told her in the past few weeks had been a lie-he wasn't ready to move on and now Luxe could see that Andy never would be ready to move to the next step. He was too self absorbed.

Andrew Biersack loved Andrew Biersack-that was his one true love and nothing was going to change that.

But what now? What was she supposed to do now?

Luxe was ready to dump her remaining dinner over Andy's head, but instead she took the napkin from her lap, silently stood up from her spot and began to clear her dishes. Andy remained at the table, watching her quietly as he finished his own food and Luxe couldn't help but wonder what it was he was thinking about.

Was it about how he had just ruined everything...again?

Most likely not.

"All done love?" Andy asked as she walked away from him and tried to hide her face while Luxe ran hot water in the sink for the pile of dishes.

This had completely devastated her and Luxe really wasn't sure what she should do.

"Y-yep. I'm-uh-I'm just going to start in on the dishes." Luxe said as the water began to run hot and she reached for the first pan. Her southern temper was telling her to throw the pot in her hands towards Andy, but the sobriety in her was telling Luxe to stay calm.

"I can do those. I want you to rest..." Andy said and Luxe knew he had gotten up from his seat and was approaching her. God he was going to see her crying...he would know that something was really wrong.

"No. No I got it." She said, letting her blonde hair fall across her face in a sheet-protecting her from Andy's eyes.

"Luce..." His hand was resting on her shoulder and ever so slightly Luxe moved out of his reach. Andy was shocked-she never flinched away from him...even when they had been fighting over the summer.

"I said I've got this Andy...stop babying me." She said, her tone gruff and Andy pulled away from her in shock.

Where was this coming from? Andy didn't understand-why did it seem like Luxe was angry with him? He had come over to stay with her until they left for tour and he was planning on staying with her even after they got home the following spring. Andy had been so excited to share his news about the live DVD with Luxe and he thought she would be thrilled-after all it meant things could grow for the Dolls as well as BVB.

They had been having a great time-laughing and joking about their first date together and then Andy had made his move. He loved hearing what Luxe thought about things-whether she wanted to believe it or not, Luxe was a very savvy business woman when it came to her band. Andy had pulled the proposal paper out of his pocket for the video, which included a list of songs to play and suddenly Luxe had grown silent.

Why?

"I'm not babying you-I'm concerned. You're sick and we're getting ready to go out on a huge tour, which isn't going to help. I just want you to rest..." He said as he reached out once more and brushed the hair out of her face. Andy stepped back...why was Luxe crying?

"Take your concern elsewhere Andy...I don't need it right now." She said, still refusing to look at him, but Andy knew that he had upset her somehow.

"But I love you Luce and that's what people do when they're in love..." Andy said and jumped back as Luxe took the large dish in her hands and flung it his way. He was able to duck out of the way and a huge shattering sound could be heard as the plate hit the wall behind him.

"You don't love anyone but yourself..." She snarled. Finally she couldn't hold it in any longer. Luxe was staring at him with a venom so deep and hate filled that his seemed to poison him from the outside in.

"What? Luce...come on..." Andy said, but stopped as another piece of dishware was thrown his way. This time Luxe hit one of the large windows overlooking her small back yard and it smashed right along with the plate.

"Stop!" Andy shouted, hoping it would scare her in to stopping long enough so that he could grab ahold of her, but there would be no stopping Luxe.

"Fuck you! Fuck you and your ego Andrew!" She screamed so loudly that Andy swore the chandelier shook above his head. Her face was so twisted with a look of pain and betrayal that Andy was almost sure that Luxe had been replaced by some monster.

"Luce...Luce please calm down and tell me what's going on..." Andy begged as he walked towards her with his hands held out. He cringed as she slapped his hands away and seemed to move around the kitchen. They were doing a sort of dance until finally Luxe was able to get around him and head in to the living room.

Luxe didn't know if she could calm herself down at this point-she was so disappointed, so devastated, that Luxe couldn't think straight. Andy was so clueless-he had lost her once before because of something like this and now he was losing her all over again. It was pointless trying to love someone who was so blind and so self absorbed in their own career and life.

Luxe moved over to the corner, close to where her case full of awards sat and she tried to quickly think of what needed to happen. Andy needed to leave before she lashed out at him any more, but they were getting ready to head out on a tour together, so things couldn't be left this way. Softly Luxe spoke out, her tears making her voice small and watery sounding.

"I thought you were going to propose..." She said and her vision fogged over as her head began to pound. This fucking headache refused to go away and seemed to be growing in intensity.

"You...what?" Andy asked as he sat down on the couch and just looked up at her. Luxe was standing there, her hands behind her and Andy knew that it was because she would throw something his way if her hands were free. At least she seemed to have calmed down.

"I thought your big surprise tonight was that you were going to ask me to marry you...guess I was wrong..." A new bought of tears spilled down her cheeks and suddenly felt like her heart had been crushed in to a million pieces.

"Luce...I..." Andy didn't know what to say in that moment.

It wasn't that he didn't have things to say to her, but right now wasn't the right time. Andy had plans for the two of them-he had spent a lot of money on his plans, but he wanted to wait for them to get through with the tour. Andy placed his head in his hands, his thoughts running wild as Luxe stood over him and cried.

He had broken her heart...again...and this time he knew that there was very little he could do to repair it. She wailed, her tears falling down her cheeks, spilling on to her hands and staining her shirt, but Andy just sat there. He had never been good at these situations and it seemed like they both needed to calm down and collect their thoughts.

Silently Andy stood up, walked over to Luxe and slowly put his arms around her. He just stood there, hugging her tightly, the words between them hanging in the air because really, what more was there to be said? He loved her, but it never seemed like it was enough...Luxe always needed more.

"I'm sorry Lucinda..." Was all he could say before pulling away from her and heading for the door. He would leave his things at her place-one of the roadies was coming by tomorrow morning to get all of their bags anyways.

"Andy...Andy please don't leave me." She said and even though she was furious with him and could barely stand the site of him, there was something deep inside of her that kept telling Luxe that Andy couldn't leave.

"I'll see you later Luce...love you." Andy said as he opened the front door. He gave her that smile-lopsided and devastating-before disappearing through the front door.

Luxe couldn't feel her face and as she tried to find her way to the couch, she stubbed her toe on the corner of the coffee table. What normal people would shout over, Luxe only winced and took a seat, facing the front door. He was going to come back...she knew he would come back.

Even though she was angry, disappointed and wanted nothing to do with Andy...Luxe knew that that would fade. She loved him, she always had and she always would, even though he drove her crazy and made her feel like she wasn't important enough to him all the time.

Luxe continued to sit on her couch, even though the sun was beginning to set behind her and the room was growing dark, she stayed right there waiting for him. Things swirled through her mind, memories and thoughts that she hadn't paid any attention to in a long time, but with those memories came more tears and the realization after an hour of just sitting...

That maybe Andy really wasn't coming back this time.

It's getting closer and closer...

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

I'm pretty sure I've done nothing but cry while reading these last few chapters. You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
