Love And Other Drugs

On The Wrong Side

Luxe felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest as she sat on the couch and listened while Andy rushed around the kitchen. He had practically moved in, which was something that Luxe had wanted for a long time, but right now he was making her very nervous. Andy in the kitchen should make anyone nervous, but the fact that he told her tonight was a special night and he had something to tell her made Luxe even more nervous than she would normally be.

Could this be it? Was Andy asking her to marry him? He had come over, all of his suitcases for tour packed and sitting in her front hallway and told her that he was going to make them a special dinner because he had something he wanted to tell her. They only had a few days until the tour was to set off and Luxe had a lot on her plate.

She still wasn't feeling all that great-her head ached more and more each day and she kept getting shooting pains up her arms. The doctor she had gone to said that it was her veins recovering from all of the drug abuse-she'd collapsed a lot of veins in her arms and now they were finally starting to recover. The headaches were caused by her stress and while the album was out and still doing well, Luxe had a six month tour to get through.

Thank God Andy would be there for her every step of the way.

"How's it going in there?!" Luxe called out from her spot on the couch. Her jean clad legs were crossed, her small frame covered in a heavy grey and black sweater. It was October and while LA wasn't anywhere close to being cold, she just felt like she needed to be dressed appropriately.

"Fine...I haven't caught anything on fire yet!" Andy called out, joking but Luxe found herself scooting closer to the edge of the couch...just in case.

"Very funny!" Luxe called out and heard a faint chuckling come from the kitchen. She couldn't see Andy because the couch was sitting behind the bar, but if she twisted just enough Luxe could see smoke and steam swirling towards the ceiling.

"Which switch is for the exhaust fan?" Andy asked and Luxe sprang up and stared at him over the bar of the kitchen.

"What are you catching on fire?" She asked and received a cynical blue eyed stare from Andy, who was also pointing a spatula her way.

"Nothing. Sit." He demanded with a smirk and Luxe could only pout as she sat back down and tried to chill out.

Why was she freaking out so bady?

Luxe breathed in and out slowly, her grey eyes closing as she rested her head back against the couch and tried to not focus on the coming dinner. If Andy were to ask her to marry him-what should she say? It would be coming out of left field if he were to propose, but they had been dating for so long, even if it was on and off, that it wouldn't be a total shock.

Ever since they had gotten back together-even though it was still very hush hush-Andy had completely doted on Luxe. He was there for her, whether they were staying at her place or separated when he went back home, Andy was on call for her 24/7. Part of that was because he was trying to make up for lost time-his words-and also it was because right after the Rock Show shoot Luxe's health had completely declined.

Andy barely let her lift anything-he made her lay in bed while he packed her tour bags and while Luxe was grateful, she also hated feeling helpless. She had been taking care of herself for years-before becoming a Doll and even after-and this sudden coddling treatment was driving her insane. Andy felt terrible-again, his words-about what had happened over the summer and how he had completely shut down at the very mention of moving on to the next step.
But did that mean he was ready for marriage?

"You seem really lost in thought..." A disembodied voice spoke out and Luxe jumped as Andy appeared right in front of her. Was it time for dinner already?

"Oh! Yeah...zoning out here I guess." She said, her voice cracking in to a nervous laugh and Andy only smiled as he kissed the top of her head and then drifted back in to the kitchen.

"Dinner should be ready in about ten." He stated and Luxe only nodded, even though she knew he couldn't see her.

The silence was heavy and Luxe blew her breath out, just to fill the void with some kind of noise. She could turn the television on, but then there was the argument over what they were going to watch. Andy always wanted it on the Discovery Channel-he had spent too much time with Jake-and Luxe usually wanted to turn on Netflix and watch Orange Is The New Black reruns. So the television would stay off and instead Luxe stood up, slowly, to rest her elbows on the counter area of the bar and watch Andy cook.

"So you're all ready for the tour?" She asked, stupidly because of course he was ready...his three suitcases were sitting near her front door.

"Yep. I'm going to bring down you suitcases after dinner...okay?" He asked without turning to face her, which was probably a good thing as he would of just told her to sit back down.

"Thanks babe. So you've been spending a lot of time here..." She started, but let her voice fade as she rested her head on her arms, her blonde hair falling like a wave across the counter. Her head was pounding, but Luxe really didn't want to take her medication right now.
It made her groggy and if Andy was going to propose then she was damn sure going to remember it.

"Yeah. I hope that's okay...I didn't want you to think that I was trying to move in or anything." He stated and finally turned around. Luxe was resting her head against the cool counter, her knees on the couch behind the bar and Andy couldn't help but notice how very tired she looked.

"I mean I wouldn't mind you moving in..." She said, her head coming up slowly and Andy only smiled at her. He had kind of just invaded her space, even though nothing was official between them yet and it made him feel good to hear that she didn't mind.

"Your dream come true..." He teased and Luxe tried to hide her disappointment.
Maybe she had been wrong about this entire engagement thing after all.

"You know it." She said, keeping her tone level and Andy only sighed. He knew that this is what she wanted and he couldn't deny that he wanted it too.

Their food was ready and so without another word, Andy began plating everything up and carried each plate over to the small kitchen table in the corner. Luxe had a lovely dining room, but it was just the two of them and it would seem much more cozy if they ate at the small wooden table that she had bought at a yard sale. Andy had made them one of the only things he was good at making-spaghetti.

Luxe took a seat in the hard backed chair, sighing as Andy placed a delicious looking plate of pasta in front of her and she tried not to laugh. The last time she had eaten pasta like this with Andy it had ended up on top of his head with a chunk of tomato dripping down his nose. God that had been so many years ago...and yet it seemed like yesterday to her in that moment.

"What's so funny? You haven't even tried it yet." Andy stated as he placed a glass of water next to her plate and then took his seat. Luxe looked beautiful sitting across from him, her long blonde hair pulled back behind her ears as her small frame was sheathed in an over sized sweater.

"The last time I ate pasta around you I dumped it all on your head..." She said as she twirled her fork and put a bite of her food in to her mouth. Andy only smiled at her, the memory springing to his mind like it had just happened.

"I used to make you so mad." He said before taking his own bite of food.

"That tour was a nightmare...atleast the first part of it was." Luxe said and Andy only smiled as he chewed slowly. It was amazing to think that they were getting ready to tour together once again, only this time things would be so much different between them.

"You love me..." Andy said and suddenly the air between them grew thick. There was something hanging off of the tip of his tongue-something exciting and Andy was just waiting for the right time to bring it in to their conversation. This could change everything...it would be the start of something great.

"I do...very much." Luxe said as she put down her fork and reached out towards Andy's free hand. Was this it? Was this the lead in to his proposal?

Luxe needed to remain calm and while on the outside she seemed calm, inside she was freaking out. Was he going to get down on one knee? Did he have a ring for her? What did it look like? She was probably going to cry and that's when Luxe noticed that Andy had given her an extra napkin-yep, he knew that she was going to cry. Luxe inhaled deeply as her grey eyes met his crystal blue ones-they were locked on to one another.

"And I love you. God this tour is going to be so amazing doll...there's so much coming up that I'm really excited about." Andy said, his blue eyes shining like a child's on Christmas morning.

"O-oh really? Like what?" She asked, trying not to sound too forceful. This needed to be natural-this was something that she would always remember.

"I'm glad you asked..." Andy said as he began to root around in one of the pockets of his jeans. Luxe held her breath as he kept smiling at her.

"Oh?" She said, her excitement evident, but then it fell flat as Andy finally stopped rooting and placed on the small table the item he had been searching for. It wasn't a black box, or even a ring box...fuck it wasn't a box at all.

It was a flat sheet of paper.

"W-what is it?" Luxe asked as she picked it up, but before she could even read it, Andy answered for her.

"We're shooting a live show for a DVD! That's what I wanted to tell you tonight...this is going to be so great doll...it's going to change everything for the band." He said and stupidly Andy thought that the tears in Luxe's eyes were from happiness.

Andrew Biersack was dead wrong...again.

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

I'm pretty sure I've done nothing but cry while reading these last few chapters. You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
