A Demonic Love

A Friend's Betrayal

Andy felt like he was going to be sick as he stood there, his blue eyes scanning around the dark and musty room that he was currently standing in. The Guards who had shown up at his door were from the High Council and they had quickly arrested him on the spot-no questions and they gave him no time to prepare. He hadn’t put up a fight, although he probably could have easily beaten the three of them within minutes, but Andy knew that it was futile and would only prove to be worse for both he and Lily if he were ever caught and so he went with them willingly.

Andy just hoped that Lily was okay and safe and it made him feel sicker as he thought back to the terrified and confused look on her pretty face as he shut the door and left her standing there in pitch darkness. The fire light coming from the sconces on the walls was making the red eyes around him seem more intense as they stared him down and Andy felt a cold sweat break out across his forehead as he looked out in front of him.

The four Demons in front of Andy all looked the same, all red skinned and black horned as they sat there in their long black robes and just stared him down. They said nothing as they continued to stare, their snake like eyes glowing almost and while Andy wasn’t scared of much-he was almost terrified of this small group of Demons. They had the power to end a Demon’s life, which meant an eternity roaming around the Death Pits-something that seemed terrifying to Andy at this point. As he stood there, Andy felt like smacking himself in the head.

What had he done?

Why had he been so stupid?

He wanted to just reach up and smack his own forehead for being so stupid and insolent, but Andy knew that he couldn’t do that right now, not in front of these four Demons. To think that he could take Lily and keep it a secret without getting caught was moronic and he knew that he would pay for his mistake dearly. But, Andy couldn’t help but smile as he thought of her in that moment. He thought about holding her close as they slow danced to that one song she seemed to love so much. He thought of the way her skin felt against his, her fingers running over his warm skin as he shivered underneath her gentle touch. Her smile…those eyes.

“Andrus.” Andy felt his head snap up at his formal name, his memories of Lily and their time together broken as he looked towards the four Demons in front of him and he gulped. None of them looked happy-they never did, but right now they all looked even more menacing than usual.

“Andrus-you are being charged with treason and theft. We have been informed of your possession of a black listed item and we also know of your ill-fated plans to send the human girl back to Earth. How do you plead in this case that is being brought up against you?” The Demon on the far left of the table spoke, his voice low and gruff and Andy just felt his eyes grow wide at their accusations. How did they know about the iPod and his plans for Lily? The only one who he had told was Cal…

“Guilty your Excellence.” Andy said, his voice strong and unwavering as he bowed slightly at the waist and looked up. He took each of them in one by one, looking them in the eyes to try and show that he did not fear them as much as they expected him to.

“Fine-you will be hereby stripped of your title and will be sent down to work in the Death Pits for one hundred Demon years…” Andy sighed, hoping that there was no more. He was sadly mistaken.

“Oh and as for that little human whom you had thought to make a pet out of…” Andy felt his gut twist as all four of the Demons that sat in front of him looked down, sick and twisted smirks lining their scaly faces and Andy felt his heart stop beating in his chest.

“The girl will be given her rightful punishment, which you will be present for…no matter how long it takes for her to expire you will be there until the last breath leaves her wretched and vile body.” Andy felt his fists clench, his teeth grinding in his mouth as he looked up at his judges. How could he do what they asked? He would never be able to live with himself if he had to watch as Lily was tortured. He would have to just sit by and watch and do nothing as Lily was harmed. Lily…

His Lily…

“Yes your Excellence…” Andy said as he bowed again and backed up towards the door, the crowd around him staring him down as they talked in hushed tones behind their hands.

As Andy left the room, he was escorted by two Guards and to his distaste Cal was also present. He knew that Cal had ratted him out-it couldn’t be anyone else for no one besides his supposed best friend knew about any of this. The bloodmoon was full as the small group hit the street and Andy felt as if he wanted to run. Lily was probably worried sick about him, not knowing where he had gone or what was going on and Andy knew that he was going to feel just as sick as he sat by and watched as her innocent blood was spilled. The large red Demons that flanked his sides were two of the stupidest ones that they could have assigned and as Andy walked he was running possible plans through his head. Suddenly a hand clapped on his shoulder and Andy shrugged it off as Cal tried to keep pace with him.

“I know what you’re thinking Andy…it wasn’t me.” Cal said, his voice low as the two Demons walked ahead of the Guards and Andy felt his fists clench as he looked to his once best friend and raised an eyebrow. Did Cal think he was stupid?

“If not you…than who would have known? I didn’t tell anyone besides you Cal…” Andy said as they rounded a corner and his quarter building came into the distant view.

“Lattie…I don’t know how she found out, but she did and she went straight to the High Council…”Andy stopped walking, a groan coming to his lips as he looked to his best friend and he knew Cal was being truthful with him. Lattie had always been obsessed and Andy had done nothing to stave off her affections and now it had come back to bite him in the ass.

“What do we do?” Andy asked as Cal smirked at him and picked up his pace. Andy sped up as well, the dumb Demons behind them oblivious as they walked along slowly.

“I figured out a way but there’s a catch…” Cal said, biting down on his lower lip as they reached the doors of the building and entered, one right after the other.

“What? It doesn’t matter what it is…” Andy said as the two Demons climbed the stairs, trying to keep their voices low in case there were ears listening around some corner.

“We would have to get her down to the Death Pits and give Charon a golden coin, which I have, but the thing is…” Cal stopped walking as he turned and looked at Andy-his best friend since they were Demonlings.

“What is it Cal? Spit it out!” Andy said as Cal looked at him sadly, his green hands coming to rest on Andy’s shoulders as the two Guard Demons huffed and puffed their way up the stairs.

“…you would have to go with her…” He said finally and Andy just cocked his head to one side as he processed what Cal had just told him.

“But I could come back…right?” Andy asked, his voice wavering as they continued to walk on and Cal felt his heart grow heavy.

“No. No Andy-once you leave Hell you’re gone…especially with you being half human…” Andy felt a lump form in his throat as he looked at his best friend, both of them stopping as they had reached Andy’s front door.

Andy moved to unlock the door, his thoughts bouncing around in his head as he pushed open the door and looked around. Lily was nowhere to be found and Andy figured she was probably still hiding in his Weapon closet. Cal and the two Guards waited by the door as Andy ventured into the apartment, the dark shadows playing on the walls as he moved down towards the end of the hall. He reached the wooden door and as his ears perked up, Andy could faintly hear Lily’s heart beating from behind the solid wood.

“Lily?” Andy asked and suddenly the door popped open and he was met by her red rimmed lavender eyes. She said nothing as her bottom lip quivered and she jumped at him, throwing her skinny arms around his neck as her cheek came to rest against his before she slid down his body slowly.

“I-I didn’t know what was going on or where you went so I just stayed where you told me to…” She said, her voice low as Andy just looked down at her, his own eyes growing moist as his thoughts haunted him. What should he do? Should he do the selfish thing and turn her over to be tortured? Or should he follow his now beating heart and follow her to Earth-where he knew no one or nothing about being human?

“Good…I’m glad you’re safe. W-we have to go though…” He said as Andy reached down and grabbed for one of her small hands. He pulled her a long after him, her feet shuffling slowly and Andy knew that she had to be terrified.

As Andy turned the corner, he noticed that Cal had moved behind one of the Demons, his hands raised above his head, his red eyes trained on Andy and Lily. Suddenly the heavy metal vase that Cal held came crashing down against the horned head of the Demon in front of him and Andy pushed Lily off towards the couch as he pulled out his sword. It all happened so fast and Lily felt herself shrink back as she watched Andy.

He was lightning fast and deadly as he fought off the other Demon and she felt amazed at how good he was with that sword. He ducked and dove out of the way and Lily felt her hands come up to her face as the metal of the other sword sliced against his cheek and she saw his blood trickling down his pale face. Finally Andy got the upper hand, his sword coming down against the other Demon, slicing him nearly in half as Andy heaved a breath and moved over towards Lily.

“It-its okay Lily…we’re taking you home…” He held out a hand to her, but Lily couldn’t move as she just sat there, her eyes wide and frightened as she took in the Demon before her. He didn’t seem human in that moment-his eyes were wild and his lips were marked in a sneer as he looked down at her, his hand still reaching for her.

“You-your hurt…” She said softly as she placed her tiny hand in his and Andy pulled her up until she was almost against his still heaving chest. She reached down, grabbing for a small cloth that was laying on the table and very gently she dabbed at his wound. Andy closed his eyes at her touch, finally popping them open as Cal cleared his throat from behind them.

“I-uh-hate to interrupt whatever this is…but we only have so much time before they come looking for the two of you Andy…” He was right and as Andy looked down at Lily he knew exactly what he was going to do.

“Where are we going?” Lily asked as Andy pulled at her hand, leading her out into the hallway as they both followed quickly behind Cal.

“I’m taking you home…to Earth.” Andy said, his voice low as he looked over his shoulder at her.

“What about you? They-they’ll kill you!” Her voice was frantic as she stopped walking and Andy turned to face her, his hands taking both of hers in as he looked down at her, his eyes soft.

“No they won’t…because I’m coming with you…” He looked down at her, seeing his destiny in her eyes and Andy only hoped that Earth was everything that this beautiful girl had made it out to be.

Notes

So ironically I was listening to the Used's song 'Not Kissing You Goodbye' as I finished getting this all situated. If you haven't heard it-check it out.

So uh, yeah...I'm pretty sure Andy has fallen hard for Lily, but does he even know what that means?
