Ashley sighed as he looked around the room and then glanced back down at the table. The card game he had been involved in had been forgotten and the bottle of Jack that sat in front of him had been all but drained. Because he was a Demon he didn’t feel the effects of the human drink as quickly as Jake or Jinxx, but he was still feeling pretty good about everything right now. Andy was looking at him, knowing that Ashley would be able to help find Lily, but did he want to?

Not really. He liked the human girl well enough-sometimes she even made him laugh, but he could see that slowly Andy was becoming more and more human-he loved her. Ashley cringed as he thought about that vile word and what it meant and suddenly his eyes clouded over.

A warehouse-it’s brick walls dark in the night but the large glass windows were allowing some light to shine through and Ashley could see that the light was falling on a still figure sitting in a chair. Her white blonde hair almost glowed in the moonlight, her head hanging down and Ash could see that her hands were tied behind her back. The girl was whimpering quietly to herself, but she refused to look up even when a smaller girl approached her, moving behind the bound girl and Ash watched as the red head yanked the girl’s head back by her hair.

Lattie. God his twin had been born of pure evil-she often became obsessed with things-Andy being the main thing and when Lattie became attached she took things to a whole other level. Ashley shook his head, ridding his mind of the vision and suddenly he wished he wasn’t telepathically connected to his sister.


“Ashley?” A deep voice called out and Ash snapped his head up and came face to face with Andy. His best friend looked worried-his pale complexion even whiter and his blue eyes held tears in them. Pathetic.

“Yeah?” The Demon asked as he ran his finger around the rim of the shot glass before him and smiled softly.

“Ash-do-do you know where she is? Can you tell from Lattie’s mind where they have Lily?” Andy asked, pulling up a chair and sitting in it backwards so that the Demons were facing one another. Ashley took in his best friend-he should be helpful, but Demons were unfeeling…something that Andy seemed to have forgotten.

“No-no I don’t know where she is…” Ashley lied and Andy huffed out a breath, his blue eyes taking Ashley in and the older Demon wanted to shrink back under that intense blue eyed stare.

“Ash. Come on…I’ve known you my whole life…” Andy pleaded and he knew that Ashley could at least sort of tell where they were keeping Lily.


Andy took in his best friend and he wondered how Ash could be so heartless. Demons didn’t feel-true, but Andy was Ashley’s best friend. They had always been there for one another and even though Ashley couldn’t understand the concept of love didn’t mean he had to keep Andy from his. He huffed out a breath, the anger within him rising and as Ashley sat there, running his fingertip around the rim of the glass in front of him-Andy wanted to kill him. He only wanted to get Lily back, but he also wanted to kill Lattie-he would be doing that personally this time instead of leaving it to some who was biased. He got up from the chair, his bare feet cold against the floor as Andy approached his best friend and Ashley looked up.


“Ashley please…” Andy said, his voice low as he bent down slightly, his hands coming to rest on Ash’s shoulders but the other Demon shrugged him off. Why was he being so fucking hard headed right now? It was not the time for this.

“I don’t know where she is Andy…” Ashley said and Andy growled lowly at him as he pushed against Ash’s shoulders roughly and then turned to walk away from him. This was for his own good-at least that’s what Ashley kept telling himself.

“…even if I did know I still wouldn’t tell you…” His voice was low and Ashley was sure that no one had heard him. He jumped as Andy growled-it was almost a scream-as the taller Demon reached for the shot glass that remained on the table and chucked it at a far wall. It shattered and the room got deathly quiet as everyone watched as Andy stood there, glaring at Ashley with his chest heaving up and down.

“Fuck you! Why can you not just allow me to be happy Ashley?!” Andy screamed as he ran at the other Demon and Ashley scooted his chair away from the table and moved to get up. Jinxx and Jake were able to grab Andy around the waist, but even with the two of them the young Demon was putting up a pretty good fight.

“You will be happier this way! All that girl is is trouble! If you had never fallen for her we wouldn’t be here…we would be home…” Ashley said, his voice growing sad towards the end and Andy stopped struggling and just looked at his best friend. Ashley loved it up here-girls threw themselves at him and finally Ashley had been getting the attention that he craved his entire life.

“I didn’t realize you disliked her so much man…I didn’t realize you hated it up here so much…” Andy said, his voice sad as he collapsed into a chair and rested his head on his hands.


Ashley watched as the young Demon cried into his hands, his shoulders shaking and the room remained silent except for Andy’s soft crying. Something in him began to warm as Ashley watched the scene unfold. Jinxx had gone to Andy and was sitting next to him, his face close to Andy’s as he spoke softly to him. CC was behind Andy, he had laid a hand on his back and was patting softly-Jake was on Andy’s right and wasn’t saying anything, but he was looking from Andy to Ashley, a soft glare in his eyes every time he looked over at the bassist.

Fuck-Andy really did love Lily. Ash had just thought it was an infatuation-something that would fade over time once Andy realized that love was for weak minded people.

Suddenly Ashley felt terrible and he cleared his throat, his eyes growing wide as Andy looked up at him. The singer's eyes were red rimmed and his cheeks were tear stained with makeup that he had yet to wash off. Ashley felt something in him break as he looked at his best friend and he groaned as he realized what it was.

Ashley Purdy was feeling sympathy.


“Fuck-fine. Fine! I think I know where we can find them…” Ashley said finally and suddenly Andy was up out of his seat, his skinny tattooed arms around Ash’s neck. The older Demon only patted him on the back as Andy pulled away and trained those blue eyes on him.

“Thank you Ash-I-I know how hard this is for you…” Andy said as Ashley only rolled his eyes and moved to stand up. Andy went from happy to serious in a matter of minutes. Ashley and the rest of the guys watched as the tall skinny Demon rushed up the stairs and they were left in silence.


Ashley moved around the room, gathering things to throw away and try to get the place in order. He still had his makeup on, his eyes lined darkly and he still had his streaks running down his neck and over his chest. Ashley liked being in what Andy called a ‘band’-he liked the attention he got and he absolutely loved having girls throw themselves all over him after every show. The guys all stood around the room silently as they waited for Andy and as Ashley moved to the trash can to throw some things away he felt his mind cloud over once again and then Lily filled his eye line.

Lattie was still hovering over the poor girl, a shining blade in her tiny fingers as she held Lily by her hair and Ashley felt his gut tighten as he watched his twin inflict pain upon this poor girl. She sliced at Lily’s cheek, laughing as the blood ran down her face and Lily whimpered softly. Ashley felt his fists clench as he watched and soon Lattie stopped her assault and suddenly Ashley felt her in his own mind.

They had always been telepathically connected but Ash had honed his skill more. He could see, hear, smell and feel what Lattie was feeling-along with knowing exactly what she was thinking. Right now she was wanting to kill Lily and leave her lifeless body on their doorstep for Andy to find, but she couldn’t. Davanix had told her to leave Lily alive…the Lord was coming to Earth in a few days time. Lattie could only hear his thoughts, but Ashley had gotten really good at keeping his mind clear.


“You’ve seen something…” Andy said out loud and Ashley snapped his head up. Andy was before him, his long sword attached to his hip and he had two more swords clasped in one hand and three daggers were clenched in his other.

“She’s torturing her…the Lord is coming soon to get Lily and take her back to Hell.” Ashley said, shaking his head as he held out a hand and caught the sword that Andy had thrown his way. Andy grunted as he tossed the daggers towards Jake, Jinxx and CC-all of whom looked at the weapons with wary expressions.

“We need to go…” Andy said and Ashley only nodded at his friend as he walked past them all, leading the way towards the front door.

“Who’s the other sword for?” CC asked as he bent down, slipping the dagger in his boot and Andy stopped and turned to face them.

“It’s Lily’s sword, but I’ll be using it until we can free her.” Andy explained as the group all exited the house and Jinxx hung back to lock everything up. They should probably move after this-runaways hardly ever came to him anymore and it would be nice to have a house that was a little cheaper to take care of.

“So you’ll have two swords…” Jake said and Ashley smiled back at his friends as he turned left and began to head down the sidewalk. Andy could fight with two swords-he had been trained by the best, but the best was also on Earth and could predict his every move.

“Yes. Hopefully we can get Lily freed and she can fight right along with us. I plan to end this tonight.” Andy said, his eyes dark as he looked back at them all quickly and then sped up to keep up with Ashley.

“When did you become such a fucking bad ass?” CC asked as he jogged to catch up to Andy. The Demon only smirked at the drummer, his lip ring shining in the light that was coming down from the street lights and the moon.

“I’m a two thousand year old Demon C-I was kind of born a badass…” Andy explained and Ashley only laughed as he continued to walk. He remembered playing with Andrus as a Demonling-the boy had always had a flare for violence and anger. He had been top of his class in Torture School…Lattie had been near the bottom and Calvanis-Ashley-hadn’t even qualified.

“Who are you going after first?” Ashley asked as they entered the warehouse district and suddenly Ashley could hear the faint voice of his twin. She was mocking Lily-cruelly and harshly and suddenly Andy sped up from beside him.

“Lily. My main reason for being here is her. Take out who you want-none of them escape tonight.” Andy said, his voice low as he stopped at a large building and then looked up.


There were no lights on inside, but Andy could hear people speaking from within and he could hear Lily whimpering quietly. His blood boiled as Andy turned to face the group and a sick smirk graced his lips. Jake looked ready-his upper torso clad in his beat up leather jacket which was good since the leather would protect his arms. Jinxx looked ready, but slightly scared and Andy could tell he was holding on to that dagger for dear life. CC was smiling, his brown eyes were serious though and he looked like he was ready to sprint into battle. Ashley was last and as Andy looked at his best friend, standing before him with a sword in his hand, he felt his heart sore.


“Gentlemen-I’m ready if you are…lets go kill some shit.” Andy smirked at them all, his eyes devious and evil looking as he turned and flung his foot out.


The door exploded at the impact and the five best friends soon found themselves face to face with nine very shocked Demons and one incredibly injured human girl who didn’t look like she was breathing.
