A Demonic Love

Gone Baby, Gone

Andy looked around the livingroom and he heaved a heavy sigh as his eyes scanned over the damage. There wasn’t too much of it, but one would be able to tell that there had been a fight-especially since some of the tables were missing legs from when one of the guys had broken it off to use as a weapon. Andy looked around-he was alone and everyone else was in the kitchen, all of them sitting around the table nursing their various wounds. They were also pouring one another congratulatory drinks but Andy wasn’t interested in getting wasted right now. He wanted to know why they had retreated. Davanix had Andy on his back and he could of easily killed him, but something stopped the older Demon. Andy had heard a low whistle call out and then it was like they were dogs running after a dinner bell. It was strange and disconcerting.

Andy only hoped that Lily had managed to hide well enough and that she was okay. She hadn’t come down the stairs yet and Andy knew he needed to go get her. She must be terrified-thinking that there were still Demons downstairs waiting to capture her and take her back to Hell. Andy felt bad-he should have run upstairs right as the Demons had disappeared, but he also didn’t want to alert them to her location in case they were lurking around somewhere that they could see his actions. He had also wanted to get everything downstairs cleaned up before she had a chance to see because Andy knew that if Lily saw the state of things it would only upset her more.

As he looked around, Andy decided that everything looked as good as it could get and slowly he began to make his way over towards the kitchen. He turned the corner, sighing as he took in his bandmates sitting around the table. Jinxx and Jake were both sipping beers, although Jinxx had to drink his through a straw due to his split lip. Ashley and CC were downing much stronger libations and Andy cleared his throat as he stood in the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest.

“I’m heading upstairs to check on Lily and then I think we’re gonna head to bed. Night guys…” Andy said and as he looked out over the room he couldn’t help but smile. His bandmates had all turned to look at him, concern for Lily lacing their busted up features.

“Ok-nice fighting by the way man. Just like old times…” Ashley smirked up at him as Andy felt his best friend embrace him. It was strange-Demons never hugged or showed affection, especially to one another, but this felt right. It felt nice knowing that he could rely on Ashley to always be there for him.

“Tell Lily goodnight from us and I hope she’s doing okay…” CC said, giving the singer a pointed look as Andy only nodded and smiled as he turned to exit the kitchen and head down the hall towards the stairs.

As he passed the front door Andy double checked to make sure that both of the bolts were locked. As he passed the door Andy noticed that all seemed quiet outside-almost too quiet and he felt a shiver run up his spine. They were safe for another day, but for how long? How long would he have to look over his shoulder, half expecting a Demon to come running at him? As he moved up the stairs, Andy decided something to himself silently. Tomorrow he and Lily would hit the gym-they were both off-and he would train with her until she begged him to stop. Sword fighting was first on the list, followed by some more difficult defensive maneuvering and lastly cardio-Lily needed to know how to run and run fast. He would work with her for as long as it took and Andy wasn’t taking no for an answer. He hated seeing that terrified look in her eyes tonight and he never wanted to see it again. His bare feet clapped against the wood of the stairs as Andy climbed and he heaved a sigh as finally he reached their floor.

All was silent up there and as he walked down the hall Andy noticed that the door to their room was closed. It wasn’t unusual since Lily obviously liked her privacy and would often both close and lock their room door. Andy placed his hand on the knob, but he didn’t turn it as he sighed again and leaned his head up against the cool wood of the door before him. Andy felt terrible-he had brought this all down upon them and there was no going back now. If he had just left things alone then no one would have gotten hurt. He would still be miserable in Hell-but Lily would be dead. He shivered at the thought and the image of Lily dead and cold made his heart hurt as Andy remained standing with his head against the door. Lily made him so happy and as Andy stood up straight and looked at the door he silently decided something.

Even if Lily was asleep in their bed he was going to go in there and tell her how he felt. He was going to kiss her and hold her until she was okay and he was going to make everything better. He loved her…it felt so good to say that to himself and Andy smiled softly as he imagined saying it to Lily in just a few moments. Maybe she would cry? No-Lily wasn’t much of a crier, but Andy hoped that she would be happy enough to say it back. Fuck-what if she didn’t say it back? She had said she wanted to tell him something earlier before they were interrupted, but what if it was that she wanted to end things. Andy found himself to be a nervous wreck but he knew he had to suck it up. He moved the knob in his hands, turning it until he heard everything click and he took in a deep breath as he moved to enter the room.

“Lily?" Andy spoke in to the room as he pushed the door more open and then entered the space. He flipped the light switch and as the room was illuminated Andy felt his breath catch in his throat.

Nothing. The room was completely empty and Andy felt his heart drop out of his chest and fall in to his stomach.

“Lily? It’s safe baby…you can come out now.” Andy said into the room as he moved around and he noticed something. The bed sheets-they were messed up and while Lily was never a fan of making the bed, something was off about this situation. He also noticed that there seemed to be blood on the floor and his heart fell. Had she? Would she hurt herself that badly?

Andy rushed over towards the closet in that moment and as he threw the door open he held his breath, hoping to see her standing there, a small smile on her lips as she looked up at him with those eyes of hers. Nothing-dresses and shoes were all that hid from him in the tiny space and Andy growled as he shut the door and turned back to the room. The bed. Andy ran towards the messy bed-the bed that they shared every night-and he flopped to his stomach as he looked underneath and was met with nothing but dust bunnies. Fuck. Suddenly his mind drifted to a memory. He laid there on his stomach as Andy remembered Lily’s little ritual whenever she got scared or stressed out and soon he was on his feet.

He rushed down the hall towards the bathroom and Andy found that once again he was holding his breath. What if he was too late? What would he find when he opened that door? Would she be hidden behind the shower curtain? Or would she be laying lifeless in a pool of her own blood-her lavender eyes staring blankly up at him? He reached the door and found that it was locked. He raised a fist and let it fall against the wood, but there was no reply. Andy looked down towards the floor and noticed that there was a light on inside so someone had to be in there. Was that someone still alive?

“Lily?! Lily open up!” He pounded his fists against the door once more and Andy felt himself begin to panic. He couldn’t breathe and the longer he stood there the more and more panicked Andy felt.

“Lily it’s okay doll! It’s just me…Andy…” He shouted towards the wood and Andy raised his fist up once again, ready to pound down but suddenly the door popped open, but the person on the other side was not the one he was expecting.

“What’s with all the shouting?” CC asked, his toothbrush in his hand and he had white foam around his lips. Andy groaned-where else could she be?

“Lily isn’t in our room and my next logical place for her was in here…” Andy said as he moved to peek his head around the corner and CC only laughed as he opened the door fully and Andy felt disappointment fall into his stomach.

“She isn’t in here either. You sure she isn’t hiding in one of the other rooms?” CC suggested as he moved from the door and headed over to the sink to finish his business.

“I mean I haven’t checked but Jinxx told me once that when these rooms are vacated that he keeps the door locked.” Andy said as he glanced down the hall and hoped to see an open door somewhere. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

“She has to be somewhere dude…people don’t just disappear.” CC said as he turned from the sink and faced the slightly taller male. Andy looked genuinely freaked out and CC felt his heart go out to the younger guy-he was obviously very in love with Lily and silently CC wondered if the two had ever expressed their feelings for one another.

Andy left CC standing in the doorway of the bathroom as he rushed down the hall, his eyes searching every door that he passed to see if any of them were open. None. The moon was making haunting shadows across the floor and they danced underneath his feet as Andy jogged down the long hallway. Andy played the night over in his mind as he walked and he remembered Lily standing on the stairs-that terrified look in her eyes as she stared at him, unable to move. He told her run, almost begged her and she did run-the opposite way of where she should have gone. Instead of going out the open door and running down the street-Lily turned and ran right back up the stairs.

The last thing he remembered seeing before getting punched in the face and he began to fight was Lily running up the stairs and then a red blur moved past him and Andy felt his heart stop. Lattie. His quick pace turned in to a full on run as he skidded on the floor and spun around to run back down towards the stairs and the bathroom. CC was still in there washing his face and Andy slammed to a stop as he looked in to the bathroom at the drummer. His face was covered by green gooey looking soap and he was humming to himself quietly as he applied it. Andy felt like laughing, but held it in as it didn’t seem like the right thing to do. Instead he moved into the bathroom slightly and CC jumped as he noticed Andy staring at him from the corner of the mirror.

“Dude! Wear a fucking bell next time!” CC said as he jumped and grabbed his chest and Andy smirked slightly as he entered the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror and he cringed-he looked so tired and beat up he was almost glad that Lily wasn’t around to see him because she would probably be worried sick.

“I know where she is! Well-I know who has her!” Andy shouted as he reached out a hand and grabbed CC by the collar of his shirt. Soon Andy was dragging the protesting drummer down the hallway and when they got to the stairs he felt CC tug back but Andy just kept going.

“Dude! Slow. Down!” CC yelled but Andy ignored him as he just kept dragging the struggling drummer down the stairs until finally they reached the bottom. Andy noticed that the front door was still locked and he felt his heart race as he walked towards the kitchen and entered the small space.

“Where’s Lily?” Jinxx asked from his seat at the table where he, Jake and Ashley were all sitting around playing a short game of cards. Their eyes were on him and Andy felt his heart speed up. How would he tell them? How could he explain things to them? Jinxx must’ve noticed the scared look in his eyes as soon Andy felt himself being pulled in to a hug and he held back his tears.

“Lily-sh-she’s gone…” Andy said sadly, his head hanging and Jinxx pulled back and gave the singer an uncertain look.

“Wha-what do you mean she’s gone?” Jinxx asked, his tone high and slightly panicked which made Jake and Ashley take notice as they had stopped their game and were now taking in the scene before them.

“She’s gone…and I know exactly who took her.” His voice was low as Andy scanned his eyes around the room until they finally landed on the only person in the room who knew exactly what he was talking about. Those brown almond shaped eyes avoided his for a few moments but finally their sights locked on one another and Andy felt some small comfort.

His best friend knew where to find Lily and he only hoped that this time Ashley Purdy would come to the rescue and be the hero for once.
