A Demonic Love

Helpless

Lily folded the shirt in her hands, her teeth biting down on her lower lip as she thought about everything that had happened a week ago. She and Andy had kissed-Andy had kissed her and just thinking that little fact over was making Lily overly giddy. His lips had been surprisingly soft and kissing someone with a lip ring had been hotter than Lily could have ever imagined in her wildest dreams. Things had thankfully not gotten weird between the two, even though they hadn’t kissed since, but Lily knew it was more because Andy was so adorably clueless. Just the night before she had sat and explained to him what exactly sex was-which had been hilariously awkward and he seemed to be intrigued by the entire idea. Lily only smiled to herself as she continued to fold more shirts and set them up on the display in front of her.

“I think you’ve folded that shirt more than three times Lil’.” Sammi laughed from behind her and Lily faced her, blushing a deep crimson as she looked at Sammi and then down at the shirt in her hands.

“Sorry. I was just thinking over some stuff and my mind kind of wandered off…” Lily said as she smiled at Sammi and then moved to grab another shirt. Sammi had become like a sister to her over the past week and it made Lily feel better about things whenever Sammi was around-the older girl seemed to understand what Lily was going through in some small way.

“Would a tall, dark, brooding and handsome guy be bouncing around in that head of yours today?” Sammi asked and Lily said nothing as she just blushed once again and picked up yet another shirt to fold. She had never felt this way about someone-no one had ever felt this way about Lily and she was having a really hard time figuring out how to handle this situation.

“Maybe…”Lily sighed as she faced Sammi again, her fingers fumbling with the fabric and she felt her heart sink. Andy knew nothing of other girls-the only ones he’d really talked to had been Lily and Sammi and what if he got interested in someone else? Someone prettier…or smarter…or someone who wasn’t such a fuck up. What would Lily do then?

“I know you really like Andy and I can tell he likes you, but do you ever get frustrated with him?” Sammi asked, her eyes soft as Lily looked to the older girl, confusion lacing her smokey eyes.

“What do you mean?” Lily asked. She had stopped folding shirts and was leaning one hand against the display table as she turned to face Sammi. Did she get frustrated with Andy? Uh yeah-on a daily basis. Every day it seemed like Lily would have to slowly walk Andy through his new life and she knew that she would always have to explain things to him as they came across new experiences.

“He just seems so unaffectionate towards you sometimes. Like he has no idea how to be your boyfriend. When he holds your hand it’s like he has to think about it and I’ve only ever seen him kiss your cheek or your head. You don’t think he…I mean he likes girls right?” Sammi asked and Lily couldn’t help but smirk at the older girl. Deep down Lily felt like Andy was possibly being distant on purpose, but she couldn’t force the issue. So Lily plastered that fake smile on her lips and reached down towards the box on the floor and pulled out a few more shirts. The store had just gotten in their spring shipment and while Lily had fallen in love with a lot of stuff she absolutely hated folding all of it.

“We’re just really private about certain things…” Lily said and Sammi looked at the girl, almost like she didn’t believe her completely.

“I just don’t want you getting hurt…Andy seems like he could break a girl’s heart and not think twice about it…” Sammi sounded sincere and Lily could only laugh as she thought about the older girl’s statement. Andy probably could break hearts-he had been doing it for thousands of years…literally.

“Well thanks Sam. I know you’re just looking out for me-I’m gonna go on a break. Okay?” Lily said, her voice falsely chipper as Sammi just nodded and Lily sat her folded shirt down and headed towards the back. As she passed some of the displays, Lily tried to hold in her tears-what was wrong with her?

Her mind raced as Lily walked through the store, her boots clapping against the stone flooring as she walked with a quick pace, smiling at a few customers as she pushed through the door to the backroom. It was a mess and Lily groaned as she looked around and thought of the extra time it would take she and Sammi to get everything back here in order before CC came in later tonight. She wiped at her face-Lily felt like crying or worse, but she held things together until she had walked through the backdoor that led out in to the small alley between their building and the next. She moved a little down the alley, her back up against the brick wall and slowly she slid down, the rough stone scratching at her elbows but Lily didn’t care. Lily knew that Andy came off as unaffectionate and sometimes cold towards her, but she also knew that it was because the entire concept of feelings and emotions in general was new to Andy.

Shit-she had been shocked out of her mind when he had kissed her and it surprised her that he had been so freaking good at it. He had kissed her all on his own with no influence from Lily and that had to count for something right? Lily sat there, her knees up against her chest with her elbows resting on them as she stared out in front of her. What was she going to do? What were they going to do? Should they tell everyone the absolute truth-No, they would have Lily and Andy committed and Lily shuddered to think about that happening. Sighing, Lily puffed out a breath of air and she giggled as her blonde bangs flew up and out of her eyes, but in her distraction Lily completely missed seeing the figure that was approaching her from the street.

“Dearest Lily…” She looked up at the sound of her own name and Lily only smiled as the stranger continued to approach her slowly. Did she know this person? Sometimes other kids from the building would come say hi to her and Sammi at the shop, but Lily didn’t recognize the blonde haired blue eyed guy that stood in front of her.

“Uh-do I know you?” Lily asked, her voice unsure as she took in the person in front of her once more. He looked normal enough, he was smiling so that was good. Suddenly there was a gust of wind from a passing car and as both her hair and his flew up around their faces, Lily looked towards him and she felt her heart stop.

His ears were pointed at the tips.

“No, but I do know you…” The guy said, his white teeth blinding in the sunlight as he only smiled and walked towards Lily slowly. She noticed the sword at his side and Lily was up on her feet and trembling.

Should she scream? Lily didn’t know what to do or if screaming would help because what if no one heard her? She slowly began to walk backwards towards the door, never taking her eyes off of the approaching male and she kept her palms against the brick of the building as she desperately searched for the handle to the door. Without warning he lunged at her, making it to her in mere seconds with his Demon speed and as he grabbed her arm Lily screamed out, her voice bouncing off of the stone walls and in that moment all she could think of was Andy. His smile. That lopsided smirk he gave her when he was amused. Those eyes-those haunting blue eyes that always looked so sad…unless they were trained on her.

Lily kept her eyes shut as she felt his fingers wrap around her throat and suddenly she couldn’t breathe. This was it-this was how she would die…alone like she had the first time. Would she go to Heaven this time? Or would she be dragged back down to Hell once again? Only this time there wouldn’t be an adorable Half-Demon there to save her. She stood there, feeling light headed and Lily only waited for the final blow to come and take her from this world. Away from Andy. It never came and instead Lily felt the fingers leave her throat and she gasped for air as she fell to the ground, her back leaning against the wall and she stood still as she felt the fingers return, this time touching her face. She felt a pair of thumbs wiping at her cheeks and now she was confused.

“Lily? Lily are you okay?” A deep voice asked and slowly Lily opened her eyes and she cried out as she collapsed into the body in front of her. She shook as she stood there, safe once again in those lanky arms that held her every night.

Andy.

“I-I’m okay.” She said, her heart racing as Lily looked up and gazed in to Andy’s terrified baby blues. He looked so scared and lost, like he was missing something and Lily was confused. Andy wasn’t scared of anything-ever. So why did he looked so terrified now?

“Good…” Andy said as his fingers left her cheeks, but Lily noticed that he refused to take his eyes off of her face. He looked her over, concern lacing his features and Andy could see that Lily was very confused and scared in that moment. Andy knew that he would have to explain a lot-everything-to her, but that would have to wait.

Andy left Lily’s side and moved down towards the mouth of alley where Cal-Ashley-stood, his arms wrapped around the struggling Demon. The disguise was a good one, but unfortunately this Demon had preferred to blend in with a different crowd and looked odd walking around the shops in this area. Andy and Ashley had been walking down the sidewalk-Andy was coming to pick Lily up from work to get some lunch when they had heard a scream. Andy had rushed down the alley and he felt his blood boiling in his veins as he watched the Demon pick Lily up by the throat and smack her against the stone. Ashley had helped him get the Demon under control, but all Andy cared about was what had happened to Lily and if she was okay or not.

“I see your loyalties have faltered once again Calvanis…” The Demon sneered and Andy only smirked as he pulled out his dagger, holding it up as he watched the light glint off of the smooth metal surface.

“Best friends are worth more than your lot Doreian…I’m staying on Earth anyways…” Ashley said through gritted teeth as he only looked to Andy and nodded. Andy smiled a sick smiled as he pulled the dagger back and then pushed it forward so that it plunged into the Demon’s gut and he cried out.

“You will not survive in this Realm Andrus…once you stay here long enough you will become human and then you will regret your actions…” The Demon spoke and while Andy had heard him he didn’t care. Slowly he sliced across the fleshy throat before him and watched as Ashley let the Demon drop-his blood spilling out all over the pavement and his boots but Andy couldn’t have cared less. All he cared about was the girl shivering in front of him, her eyes scared and helpless as she looked at him from a few feet away.

Lily.

Andy ran towards her, pulling her against his chest as his fingers laced themselves through her soft hair and she cried against his broad chest as he held in her place. Andy had been scared-terrified-that Lily had been hurt or worse and seeing that she wasn’t he felt something break with in him. As he stood there, holding the girl who had changed him so much in such a short time-Andy knew that he was falling for her, but what did that mean? Love? Andy didn’t know how to love. Shit he didn’t even know how to wash his own clothes or take care of himself, how could he love another person? As they stood there, Andy placed his lips against the top of her head and smiled as Lily looked up at him, her lavender eyes shining with tears.

“Thanks for saving me…” She said, her voice quiet and Andy only smiled as he bent down and placed his lips against hers. She pressed against him and in that moment Andy knew that he couldn’t live on this world if Lily wasn’t in it-keeping him company every step of the way.
