Lily felt herself being shuffled off towards the backroom of the store, Andy’s fingers were tight around her arm as he moved her to sit down. She was trembling, why was she shaking so badly? Nothing had happened-Andy had saved her. Wait. A Demon had attacked her-on Earth! Lily felt the tears come to her eyes and she just sat there and her cheeks became wet with her tears. Lily only looked out in front of her, Andy’s eyes staring in to hers. His mouth was moving, but Lily heard nothing as she just sat there, her hands in her lap as she picked at the scars on her wrists. Sammi had come in to the room and the older girl came to Lily, shaking her shoulder but Lily only looked up at her, her lavender eyes empty as she turned them down towards the floor. She continued to shake and Lily could only focus on two things-the fact that there was a dead Demon outside and Andy’s concerned eyes as he crouched in front of her.


“Lily? Lily can you hear me? What’s wrong with her?” Andy asked, his voice gruff as he turned to Sammi, his blue eyes wide and scared as the older girl said nothing and just took his place in front of Lily.

“Lily-breathe. Just breathe for me…” Sammi was worried. Lily was white as a sheet and shaking so hard that they all could hear her teeth chattering in her head. Andy looked on, his gut twisted as he turned his gaze towards Ashley, who only stood in a corner, his arms crossed over his chest as he watched the scene unfold in silence.


Andy said nothing as he moved Sammi out of the way, gently and he was crouching down in front of Lily once again. He leaned forward, his eyes closing as he placed his lips against hers and Andy felt her lips against his-cold and not reacting in the way that he anticipated. Andy thought, his head hurting as his eyes scanned over her face and finally he knew what would get her out of this shocked persona. Clearing his throat, Andy placed his hands on either side of her face, making her stare him straight in the eyes as he licked his lips. She looked so scared in that moment and Andy felt his heart break as he opened his mouth and began to sing. It was soft at first, but as he caught the beat Andy felt his voice growing louder and louder.

The song was meant to be sung quickly, but Andy felt like the words he was singing would mean more if he sang each line slowly. So that Lily would understand him and the meaning of what he was trying to tell her. He couldn’t live without her-she had changed him and he needed her to help him make his way through life. As Andy finished singing, his low voice dying out, Lily blinked a few times and finally seemed to acknowledge him. Andy smiled, puffing out a breath as he leaned in, placing his lips against hers and this time Lily responded. Her lips captured his softly as she smiled against him and then pulled away, placing her hands over his as she brought them down in to her lap.


“Y-you sounded really good singing that…” Her voice was quiet as Lily sat there, her knees knocked together as Andy only chuckled and brought his arms around her shoulders and hugged her tightly.

“I’m so glad you’re okay…” Andy said as he smiled at Sammi, who was standing behind the two of them. The older girl only nodded as she gave Ashley a look, nodding her head towards the front of the store. The other Demon only smirked as he followed the pretty girl out of the room and soon Andy and Lily found themselves alone in a backroom that looked like a hurricane hit it.

“What-who-was that thing that attacked me Andy?” Her voice was serious as Lily looked down at Andy, who was still crouching in front of her and he bit down on his lip. Tell her the truth? Shit-she might never want to see him again if she found out that his being on Earth was causing so much trouble.

“A-another Demon. The guy that’s in front of the store with Sammi…it’s Cal.” Andy’s eyes got wide as Lily just looked at him. She seemed to be thinking about something as she sat there, her light colored eyes searching his face over and over.

“Cal? Your best friend? Why are they here?” She asked finally and Andy only smirked. Cal was here for the chicks-the others were here for Andy’s blood. But how to explain everything.

“Cal came with nine other Demons to search us out. We’re both wanted back in Hell Lily-me more than you. What we did…escaping like that…it’s never happened and the Lord is not happy. He sent them here to find us and Cal volunteered to come so that he could find me first and warn me of their plans.” Andy said this quickly and Lily felt her head spinning as she just looked at him, her eyes curious and slightly confused.

“That’s Cal…is he…staying up here? He looks pretty happy here.” Lily said and Andy only nodded as he held his hands out and helped Lily up as she smiled up at him.

“He does like it here. Do you want to stay and work or head back home?” Andy asked as Lily thought for a moment, a smirk gracing her lips as she pouted out her lower lip and looked up at Andy.

“I have a better idea…teach me how to fight.” She said and Andy laughed so loudly that he snorted and Lily only glared at him as he clutched his stomach, his laughter finally dying down after a few minutes.


Lily sat back down, her arms crossed over her chest as she watched Andy laugh quietly to himself. Why was it so funny that she wanted to learn how to defend herself? If ten Demons had been sent to Earth-Cal being one of them and the other being dead-that meant there were eight more wandering around LA. Andy was good at fighting and protecting her, but Lily wasn’t stupid and she knew that he couldn’t be with her all the time. She could throw a punch-she had gotten in to enough fights in high school to know that much, but Lily needed to know more than just how to hit someone. She needed to learn how to handle a sword-she needed to learn how to kill if she needed to. Lily said nothing as she stood back up and walked over to Andy, her chest against his as she put a serious look on her face.

“Why is that so funny?” She asked and Andy stopped laughing as he only looked down at her, his blue eyes serious as he took in her face. Was she serious right now?

“Girls don’t fight-they never have. I can protect you much better than you can yourself Lily…” Andy said and then his eyes grew wide as her fist connected with his stomach and he felt all of the air puff out of his lungs. Did she just sucker punch him in the gut?

“Yeah well if I can punch like a dude-I can sure as fuck learn how to fight with a sword like one.” She said, her tone menacing as Andy tried to fill his lungs with air.

“I’m not going to teach you how to fight! You’ll only end up getting hurt even worse!” Andy said, his fingers rubbing at his stomach. Lily could look sweet and innocent, but fuck she could pack a wallop when she wanted to.

“Fine. I’ll learn from someone else…” She turned on her heel and began to head towards the door that led to the front where Sammi and Cal were. Suddenly Andy’s hand reached out and grabbed for Lily’s wrist and she only smirked as she spun around to face him.

“There is no one else…” His voice was gruff as he looked down at her, his blue eyes shining with anger and frustration.

“…Cal would teach me I’m sure.” As she said this, Lily only raised an eyebrow as she moved to head back out into the store. Andy pulled at her and Lily felt herself spin until she finally stopped, smacking into his chest and she smiled. Jealous much?

“I will teach you, but not today Lily. It’s been a long day and we’re both exhausted…besides we need to get Ashley to the house before he says or does anything stupid.” Andy laughed as he wrapped an arm around her waist, his fingers massaging the skin of her hip and Lily felt herself shiver.


Andy was pretty clueless about a lot of things, but one thing he seemed comfortable with was grabbing a hold of her for dear life. Ever since her incident with her cutting, Lily noticed that Andy didn’t really like to leave her side. She and Sammi would sit around the kitchen table, gossiping and giggling while the guys would be in another room playing their guitars or video games, but Andy would be right there next to her, his hand clutching on to hers like she was going to disappear any moment. It made Lily giggle just thinking about it as the two of them left the backroom and entered the front of the store. Sammi was behind the counter with Cal leaning his elbows on it, trying and failing to flirt with her. As Andy and Lily approached, Sammi gave her a look as if to say, ‘please get this guy away from me before I blind him with the pointy end of the pins we have on sale’ and Lily could only laugh and turn to Andy.


“You know Andy, I’m pretty much done here. Why don’t we head back home and show, uh-“ Shit. Lily figured Cal wasn’t going by his Demon name, but Andy hadn’t told her what to call him. She just shuffled her feet around, smiling up at Andy as he looked at her strangely. Something clicked as the taller guy turned to Ashley and smirked.

“Yeah! Come on Ashley…Jinxx probably has a couch you can crash on.” Andy said quickly as he clapped his best friend on the back and nodded towards the front door.

“Bye Sam! I’ll see you later!” Lily said as she waved at the older girl and Andy only smiled as he ushered Lily towards the door. The three of them looked strange and Sammi couldn’t help but feel like they were hiding something. None of them had actually said what had happened to Lily in the alleyway.

“Bye!” Sammi called after them and Lily only smiled up at Andy as they turned right on to the sidewalk and she noticed that he still hadn’t taken his arm away from her waist.


The small group headed down towards their building, Andy and Ashley joking about the Demon that they had disposed of and Lily kept her head low as they walked. People were staring and while Lily normally wouldn’t care, she found herself feeling really self conscious in that moment. One thing she would have to remind Andy of when they got home was things that he could and couldn’t say in public. Now with Cal-er-Ashley tagging along, Lily found herself groaning. It was one thing having to teach Andy about things-now she would have two people in her life that had no idea what was going on. Finally they reached the steps of their building and Andy stopped walking as Lily turned to him and smiled. His black hair was sticking up in the back, his lip ring shining in the sun as Lily blushed under his stare.


“We going inside?” She asked as Lily smiled up at Andy and then looked over his shoulder at Ashley. The other guy was just standing there, staring at the building in front of him with a slight scowl on his face.

“Yeah, but I have a question…” Andy said, his voice low and slightly embarrassed sounding.

“O-okay, what?” Lily asked, almost afraid of what his question would be.

“What’s a ‘dude’?” Andy asked and Lily only burst out laughing as she moved away from him, taking his hand as she led him into the building. She knew that this is how it would always be-Lily leading Andy by the hand through life and she found that she wouldn’t want it any other way.
