Thicker than Water

Survive the Night

We began running away from base, going towards the abandoned Walmart. After arriving in the parking lot we went through the cars, finding one that would suit our needs. Finally we found a truck, and tossed the bags into the back of it before climbing into the cab. Talon hotwired the car, and we peeled out of the parking lot. I loaded my crossbow and shotgun, and Talon pulled her own guns out of her holsters and held onto them tightly as we sped through the deserted streets. I saw a quick moving figure moving through an alley, and cocked my gun.
"Talon we have company!" I yelled, aiming the gun out the window. There was a flash of blonde hair and fangs before I shot, getting the vamp right between the eyes. She fell to the ground, a small stream of blood oozing from the bullet hole. Talon kept speeding, watching the road warily for any more signs of vampyres. I saw a flash of red eyes, and one attached itself to the side of the car. Talon reached her arm out and shot him multiple times in the chest, before he released the side of the truck and fell to the ground. Blood was splattered on her cheek, which she wiped away carelessly and we kept speeding out.
"We need to get to the main rebellion, and warn them about the bloodsuckers." I told her, eying the area around us with a watchful eye. Talon nodded, and we continued down the road, finally out of the city.
"NO!" Talon screamed as the truck screeched to a halt, the car dying since we were now out of gas. I groaned, but hoisted my crossbow over my shoulder and climbed out. Talon did the same, and we each grabbed the duffle bags making sure to ba able to use our weapons. We walked along the dark road, watching for any signs of movement. I heard a loud hiss, and saw a vamp lunging at us. Raising my crossbow I aimed right at him, shooting him in the neck.
"Ah!" He screamed, blood gushing out from the wound on his neck. I stepped closer to him, raising my crossbow to shoot him again, this time in the heart.
"Please..." He moaned, and I froze. I knew that voice...
"Matt? They got you too?" I asked quietly, and his eyes widened.
"No... You froze to death." Matt whispered, his eyes wide in terror. I aimed at him again, only to hear Talon call out for me.
"Outlaw, we need to go!" She waved at me, and I left Matt there on the road bleeding. Another vamp would find him, that I was sure of. Or he would still be there when the sun rose and burned him alive. Either way it wasn't my problem. The Matt I knew would have rather died instead of becoming one of them
