An Angels Last Fall

Black Shirt, Black Jeans, Black Boots

Juliet kept glancing at me during the car ride. When I questioned why she was acting weird she pushed on my shoulder making me press against the car door. “You know!” She squealed lifting up her shoulders so they were almost touching her chin.

I looked at her then to the front of the car. “I don’t think I do?”

She make a smacking sound with her lips. “You like my ex!”

“What do you mean?” Everyone was supposed to love their neighbor why was she so excited about this?

“I mean like you find him attractive and all that good stuff.” She smiled looking at the road in front of her picking up her shoulders every now and then.

My jaw dropped. “No, I do not like anyone that way. I…” I almost let her know of my past self. “I do not associate myself with people in such a nature.”

She gave me a small laugh and looked at me while she was at a stop light. “I can introduce you two if you like? I mean, that man…” She sighed looking at the road again. “You have to meet him.” She smiled looking back at me again.

“No, Juliet. But thank you.” I rested my hands in my lap and resisted the urge to see if she was still looking at me.

“Suit yourself.” She said.

As soon as she parked in her drive way I got out fast taking as many bags as I could and rushing to the spare room. I closed the door and looked in the mirror to see that my face was very red. I touched it. I felt a tingling feeling in my chest. I shook my head and straightened myself.

“You’re an Angel.” I said to my reflection. “Angel’s do not like humans.” After that I seemed fine.

My face went back to its normal hue. I began to put the clothes I had bought in the closet. But every minute my mind tried to keep wandering back to the man in black. What was so intriguing about him? I shrugged it off again. Eventually as the day led on I did not remember thinking about him again. I had to keep it that way.
