An Angels Last Fall

Skin Tight Jeans

Last night was restless. I had never slept a day in my life before. I had no reason to nor did my job allow such a pleasure. But this morning I was tired. I had tossed and turned all night. Drifting in and out of sleep I knew this human form needed. I looked in the mirror in Juliet’s spare bedroom to finally see me. I knew I was not given a new form because I had fallen straight from Heaven. Most Fallen Angels are birthed to a human family. I gently grazed my cheek with my fingertips. My eyes were glowing green. But I looked tired. I continued to feel my face as I looked at the woman in the mirror.

A knock on the door made me jump. I opened the spare bedroom door to see Juliet holding up a small shirt and shorts that would barely cover anything. “Come on, were going shopping!” She said with a smile on her face thrusting the clothes into my arms.

“You expect me to wear this?” I asked holding the clothes in my hands awkwardly.

“Yes!” She squealed turning back around to face me. “What’s wrong with them?”

“Do you have anything a little more…modest?” I asked handing the clothes back to her timidly.

Juliet snatched the clothes out of my hands and gave me an obvious fake smile. “Let me go check.” She sure was a piece of work. Never had I watched anyone like her. And no one I watched dared go near women like this. “Here.”

She threw a shirt and jeans at me. I smiled and thanked her, closing the door. I put the shirt on to see that it was huge on me. It had three words on it with five…what looked like men…in a line. http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=137801416

“Black Veil Brides?” I said out loud.

I shrugged and pulled the jeans on. They fit better than the shirt did. They were skin tight though all the way down to my ankles. How could anyone wear something like this?

I walked out of the spare bed room and into the kitchen area. I saw Juliet flipping through a small book that had plastic paper. She was sipping on a cup with a handle on it. She looked up at me then back down at her book.

“That’s my ex’s shirt so fuck it up any way you want.”

I looked down at the shirt again and ran a hand over my stomach. “I’m hungry.” I announced.

“Cool, we can get food at the mall.” She continued to sip out of her cup and reading her book. I looked over to her to see that it was mostly pictures of half-naked women and shirtless men.

“So…” I was afraid to ask. “When are we leaving?”

“Now,” she said still flipping through her book.

“When is now?” I asked again.

“Go get shoes and I’ll tell you.” She took another drink from her cup.

I cleared my throat and walked back to the spare room. I grabbed the shoes I took from the park. Juliet seemed like she hopped from one emotion to another in the blink of an eye. I walked back into the kitchen and cleared my throat again.

“Is now…now?” I asked.

“Yup,” she closed her book and smiled at me. “Let’s go!”

“Juliet? I’m not sure if I like the ‘skinny’ jeans.” I said through the dressing room curtain.

“Then what do you want?” She asked crossing her arms and popping her hip out when I stepped out of the room.

“Something like this.” I smiled.

I had seen ‘Bootcut’ pants and grabbed a few pairs. I liked the look of them better anyway. http://www.polyvore.com/jean_id_buy/set?id=137769016 They were a little long on me but the look on Juliet’s face told me that maybe I was right. “Yes!” She shouted clapping her hands together. “Now we just need to find you some shirts and shoes and of course jewelry!”

It was already noon and we still had to shop for three more items? I already had 5 pairs of jeans did I really need more? I sighed and followed her to the next store. Everyone in the mall was busy. Either shopping or talking. Some were couples and others were families. I smiled at a mother holding her child. Even from down here the world was beautiful.

We stepped into a store that had a black logo and looked like it was a war zone. “What’s in here?” I asked.

“Well seeing how good you look in that shirt I thought you might want to buy some more like it?” She smiled pulling me in.

I hesitated seeing everyone in the store in front of me was in either all black or very bright colors. Most of them had hair covering their face and tattoos everywhere. I had never ever seen anything like this. I sighed seeing that Juliet was still pulling on my arm. Of course seeing knew things was what I loved best. I smiled and walked in to where she was pulling me.

“Welcome to HotTopic!” A woman with bright green hair said smiling.

I smiled back at her. And wanted to talk to her but Juliet pulled me to the back of the store. “This is the only store I’ll let you chose anything in so make it good.” Juliet said motioning toward a wall of shirts.

“What do I do?” I asked looking to her.

“Pick.” She smiled.

I looked at the wall not seeing anything I wanted. I looked around the store some more and found a shirt that caught my eye. I walked away from Juliet and picked it up. It was a black shirt with small sleeves and a humming bird on the front. It looked like the humming bird was coated with different bright colors and then it started to fly. It looked a little lose fitting.

I took it off of the hanger and brought it to my chest. I smiled at Juliet who smiled in turn. The next 3 hours were those filled with leg aching walking around and trying on shirts. Towards the end of the day I just said yes to anything Juliet picked out. I still hadn’t eaten and we now had over 20 bags filled with stuff.

Juliet finally agreed to get food from the food court. She allowed me to sit with the clothes while she went to a little stand called Subway. She said I had to try it. I sat and watched my surroundings. As the day went on I was actually thanking Raphael for this gift. To be closer to the people. To finally see the whole world for what it was. I was playing with a watch Juliet had bought me. Messing with the knobs on the side. Seeing which way it moved when I did something. I looked up when I heard Juliet take a breath and saw her turn back around. A tall man with pitch black hair and tattoos covering his arms stopped her with a wave.

He had a black jacket on with a white tank top. He was wearing skin tight black jeans with boots. I was intrigued. I continued to stare as their conversation furthered. When Juliet nodded toward me I quickly lowered my gaze seeing that the man looked where she did. I felt my face getting hot and my hands get sweaty. When I felt like they were looking away now I glanced back up to see that he was still looking at me with a smile while Juliet was talking to him. I gave a small smile back.

Juliet gave him an awkward hug and started to walk to the table I was sitting at. The man gave me a wave and I smiled. “Talk about weird.” Juliet said placing our food on the table then sitting in the chair.

I cocked my head and narrowed my eye brows. “It didn’t seem awkward?” I questioned.

“That was my ex.” She said wrapping her lips around the straw sticking out of the cup.

“He doesn’t look like you?” I questioned.

“Why would he? We aren’t related?” She said again shrugging her shoulders.

“In my experience couples usually look alike. The way the dress and compose themselves. He looks sweet and cautious.” I said looking down at the wrapped up rectangle in front of me.

“And what am I?” She asked unwrapping her rectangle and revealing a sandwich.

“You’re impulsive. You like to take chances even if it will hurt you. You take care of yourself before anyone else.” I shrugged unwrapping my sandwich gently.

I could hear Juliet stop chewing and I looked up to see that she had anger in her eyes. Then they turned sweet again. “I guess.” She took another bite before finishing her first then wrapped it back up and threw it away.

“Why did you do that?” I questioned. “There are children starving and you take two bites and realize you’re done?” I knew that there was pain. That the Fathers land was not perfect, and now I knew why.

“I paid for it, I can throw it away if I want.” She picked up her purse and half of the bags. “Let’s go.”

I looked up at her confused. “I just started eating.”

She took it out of my hands and threw it away as well. “Not anymore.” I sighed and left with her. I looked back to our table to see that another couple had taken our spot.

He kissed her on the check and pulled out a chair for her. I smiled. Juliet acted like this for a reason. She just needed someone to come along and show her the beautiful things in life. There was good in everyone. Even the bad ones.
