A War Worth Fighting For

Raynes POV

Jinxx's scream made everyone jump back. I run to him, wrapping my arms around him tight. "It's Ok Jinxx, it's Ok."
He collapses, crying. "It's not ok, I can't do this."
He struggles from my grip and takes off into the sky. I go to chase after him but Andy grabs me. "Just let him cool off Rayne. He's very protective of you, and because he couldn't kill the demon for touching you, he needs to just let off some steam."
My wings go limp, and I sigh. I close my eyes and try and connect with him, but again he shut me out, of his feelings. He's only letting enough through to let me know he's alive.
Jules walks up to me with tears in her eyes. "I didn't realize it was this bad Ray, I'm sorry."
"I thought we were ok after today. After we talked. I guess I was wrong." I sigh again, "Well right now there is no time, let him cool down. We need to come up with a plan. Guys, see if you can link your minds to him. So at least he'll know the plan for when he returns. Let's get inside."

"Maybe we shouldn't play."
"No, we have to Ash, it's the only way to bring them out. While you are on stage, i will gather the warriors, and the instant something happens, we will be ready."
"I don't think we can hide ourselves from the human race any longer."
"You guys can, Jake, as well as the girls. The warriors and I cannot. And neither can the hellion warriors. Earth will finally know that Heaven, Hell, Angels and Demons exist."
"This will not go over well." CC practically sang that.
"I know this, we all do. Riots will break out."
"Maybe this is what they want. More chaos, so we can't tell who is possessed, who is a demon and who is just a scared human."
Ugh, why didn't I think of that, "Andy, this is why your my second. You always over think things, but this time your right. And if thats the case, then so be it. They won't come out of hiding otherwise, and we will always be one step behind."
We all look at eachother and as one we say, "We can't fail."

Once everyone is asleep, I head back up to the roof. I search the sky for Jinxx, but through our link I can tell he isn't close by. I only know he is Alive. I shut him out, and close my eyes, mentally I search for the one being I know I can't trust, but I need to talk to.
"Troian?"
Minutes race by, "I guess he isn't home."
I turn to walk to the door and see the Demon of Night leaning against it. "You summoned me, Rayne?"
"Yes."
"What do you want Head Warrior? Things becomming a little to difficult for you to handle alone?"
"I am not alone, you know this."
"Ah yes. But... your mate, it seems, has run off."
"Can we get on with this?"
"As you wish."
I explained what had happened earlier, and what our plan is. "I assume, you are now head of the Hellion Army."
"I am. Lucifer saw it most fit, especially after he saw the blood lust I have for Balan."
"You know, I took his hand."
"Oh did you now? Why didn't you call for me, his head is mine."
"Because before we could stop him, smoke rose from a small fissure in a ground and it was like he dissipated within it."
"So he does use the fault lines. He pulls his power from them."
"And from the crystals that bind the human souls. The new demons bring them to him."
"Damn Halfbreeds. Our armies must converge."
"Tomorrow, we play an outdoor arena. Angel warriors will be masked and present. We are going to keep our secret as long as we can but we will not hesitate to show ourselves if needed. The band and their mates will not. They are to stay 'human' until this is over."
"We will meet you on the front lines."
"Understand this, Troian, I will not hesitate to kill of one of the 'pure blood' demons if they mess with the Angels. We may be enemies, but we need to work together."
"I know this Rayne. I'm not a fool."
"Yeah, well, that's still up for discussion."
He growls deep within his chest, his fangs lengthening, and leather wings sprout from his back. "Til tomorrow, Angel." He takes off, with a woosh of his wings.
"Til tomorrow."

I curl up on the matress, wrapping myself in my wings, to drained to remove my armor. I stare at the clock on the wall, its 2am. The guys play at 8pm. I watch as the second hand moves around and around, ticking slowly. I reach out for Jinxx again. He is closer, but not by much. I focus on him, needing to feel him near me, even though he wasn't. I shiver as I close my eyes, feeling cold without him.
I wake with a start, pain ripping through my back, and my head. I look around the room and see Jinxx sleeping on the chair. looking at the clock, its 4.
"Relax Rayne."
"Lucifer?"
"Yes Child, it is I."
"What is it?"
"We've chased the halfbreeds out of hell, and gotten control back, for now. Troian as told me your plan. Widow will be there with her children. I suggest you let your guardian help as well."
"Oh shit, Cherry." How could I have forgotten about her. Now I know what the pain was. I havent let her out, and she's been stuck under my clothing and armor, unable to protect me when danger was present.
"Good luck tonight, Rayne, I fear you and our warriors might need it."
As soon as he was out of my head, I slipped off my armor and let Cherry out. "I'm so sorry my friend, it's been so hectic, can you forgive me."
"Of course Rayne, just remember to let me out before you plan on making the moves you did last night."
"I will."
"I'm going hunting, for Cherries."
"I'm sure you can find some in the Kitchen. Use the vents Cherry, and don't get yourself caught."
"I never do."
She gave me a quick spidery smile before heading to the vent in the ceiling. I look over at Jinxx, and he is awake, watching me. I lay back down on the bed and spread my wings and arms open. He crawls to me, "It wasn't you, my love. Please understand that."
"I know baby. You were angry and frustrated. I get it."
"You're not angry with me?"
"No, I know how protective you get of me. I'd probably do the same thing if someone threatened you, and touched you like that."
He smiles. "You're mine, my love."
