A War Worth Fighting For

Raynes POV

Jinxx flew out of bed to my side. "Rayne, what do we do?"
I froze, staring at Ash, and My friends behind him. We have no warriors with us. If I brought them out there it would be murder. And the girls wouldn't be far behind.
"I need more details, surrounded how? Are they in the tree line? Are they in the building, Ash you need to give me more."
"They are in the tree line, just watching the building."
"How many?"
"Easily 100 plus."
"Is there any one of them that stands out most, like a leader."
"Not that I could see. I can't see the other side of the building though."
"Let's get to the roof. We need to be able to see exactly what we're up against. Grab the girls and bring them up there. I don't want anyone left alone. Andy, link to Michael, let him know and see if there are any warriors close to our location. We might need help."
The guys run off as Jinxx and I head up the stairs, hoping that there is a roof access door. We find it and wait for the rest of them to get there.
"My love, we can't face them. We aren't strong enough to handle all of them ourselves."
"I know babe, I don't plan on meeting them head on."
"Well then what is the plan?"
"That's the thing Jinxx, I don't know yet."

"We are completely surrounded, and the closest help is easily an hour away."
"Are Michael and Wes safe at the house?"
"No, but the mist warned them in time, Michael took off with Wes to a safe place with the Mist guiding them."
"Thanks Andy."
i walk the roofs perimeter searching for something. What it was, I didn't know for sure. Anything to give away a leader, or a break in strength. Maybe a weakness for an easy way out. I spotted a demon, standing in the parking lot, leaning against a car. rhey all look so human. But heir eyes. They aren't right.
"Andy, guys, look."
I point to the one leaning on the car. He looks up at me and smiles, like I'm his prey, sending a chill of nausea through me.
"My love, I do not like the way he looked at you."
"I don't either baby." I look over at him and his eyes are dark, almost black.
Andys eyes widen at him. "Easy my friend, we can't afford you chasing him down and getting yourself killed."
"I'm not going anywhere Andy, I will not leave Raynes side."
Andy just nods.
"I see you up there Angels. I can smell you as well."
we all look down to the man...demon...leaning against the car.
"We won't hurt you, well, at least not tonight. I have a message for you."
He paused, pushed himself up from the car, and leaped into the air. My sword appears in my hand, and I back up, the guys following my lead. The demon lands on the roof in front of me.
"And what would that message be?"
"Let it happen, Rayne. Let's us take over. Or every song this band plays will mean the death of another pure blood demon, Or Angel, and the possession and death of another human. We will win this either way. It'll just be so much easier if you let us do what we were fashioned for."
He steps closer and eases his hand to my face, I raise my sword and Jinxx lunges in front of me.
"Ah ah, I wouldn't do that if I were you. If you kill me, the army in that treeline will attack."
He steps past Jinxx and runs his thumb along my cheek. I cringe back at the smell and the fetal sound of Jinxxs growl. "Don't touch my mate."
"Oh Jinxx, you are a lucky soul. She is beautiful, and so powerful. Maybe I should take her for myself."
Jinxx pushes him hard, and goes to attack, Andy steps in front of him and I hold him back. "Jinxx baby, don't, it'll mean all of our deaths."
"She's smart too."
With that he jumps from the roof, running into the woods. All of the demons retreat til there are none.
Jinxx is shaking in anger, he tilts his head back and screams. A sound I've never heard from him. A sound full of pain and anger.
