Happy Little Pill

Memory

The air in my mother's office smelled of cinnamon and mint, and it was gross. I had to keep myself from gagging as I sat there. My mother had called me in to talk to her, but she wasn't here. A sigh escaped my lips as I sat there. I crossed my legs and the knees and straightened my shirt. Seriously? I could be doing something so much more interesting, like writing songs. The door opened and I heard my mother's voice. Finally.

"Come on in Tyler," she said and as she walked in, a man followed her. She was smiling at me and I looked at the person, or two other people that walked in. The guys looked almost identical to my dad.

"Sit down you two, we all have a lot to talk about," my mom said and sat down at her desk. Tyler and the other girl sat down. It took me a second but I finally realized that the girl was that fan from the party.

"Mom, what is going on?" I asked her.

"Well Sadee, your sister told me how mad you were about not knowing about a brother, and well, here he is," she said and pointed to Tyler.

"Hi," he said. His voice was deep like my dads and was almost like silk, it was really weird.

"Hi," I said shyly and my mom chuckled.

"Dad, that's Sadee Christian," the girl said and Tyler chuckled.

"It is," he said.

"She's the one who sings The Day You Left," she whispered to him and he looked at me.

"Really?" He asked. I nodded and shifted in my seat.

"Mom, why did you really call me here today?" I asked.

"Fine, I have a favor to ask of you," she said.

"What?" I asked.

"Would you be willing to take Rayna here, around the studio and show her some things while I talk with Tyler?" She asked.

"You want me to be a chaperon?" I asked.

"Sadee, please," my mom was giving me a look and I sighed.

"Fine, but, I am going to play her Andy's album," I said.

"Sadee, you can't do that," she said.

"Then I'm not being a chaperon," I said.

"It's fine, I want to wait until it's released anyways," Rayna said and I rolled my eyes.

"Fine, come on kid," I said and got off my chair and walked out of the room.

"Oh my god, this is so awesome!" Rayna exclaimed as we walked into a recording booth.

"I did not know you were Tyler's kid," I said.

"I didn't know you were my aunt," she smiled and sat down.

"So why are you and Tyler really here today?" I asked.

"Because Lori is handing the label over to my dad," she said. What? My mom is quitting?

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah, something about the kind of music that happens here isn't what she likes and she can't stand it anymore, blah blah blah. All I know is that I am moving here to LA," she said.

"Are you sure she's just handing it over? Cause the Lori I know would never do that," I said.

"I'm just in the know with what my dad tells me," she said.

"Well, um, alrighty then. What do you want to see next?" I asked.

"I know what recording places look like, my dad worked for Warner Bro's for a long time," she said.

"Ah, I don't know what to do then," I muttered and looked at the board, then I got an idea.

"Wanna sing a song with me?" I asked. She gave me this extremely excited look and nodded.

"Alright, let's write a song and then sing it," I said and pulled out a notebook from under the boards. I keep random notebooks everywhere here.

"What is it gonna be about?" She asked.

"I don't know, what do you want it to be about?" I asked.

"Oh um, I don't know. I don't really have any big life events to write about," she said.

"Fine then, we are going to write about, um, something personal to me. Alright?" I asked. She nodded and I began writing and humming.

"My heart once belonged to a man.
A man with a passion.
A passion for everything he did.
The passion drove him,
Drove him to be a man.

Everywhere on myself,
I can only feel those hands.
Tightening and hurting me,
" I sang out loud and she was watching me intently.

"Can I write the chorus?" She asked.

"Go for it," I handed her the paper and she began writing. When she finished and handed me the paper, I was surprised. It was pretty good.

"I’m in a place I am happy with.
I don’t want to see his face.
Once upon a time he was,
My knight in shining armor.
Now he’s just a memory,
" I sang and she was smiling.

"That is amazing Rayna, it really captures what I want to say," I smiled and began writing more. I am amazing at writing songs and can get them done in one sitting. But, I have been thinking about this song for a while now.

"At night I wake up,
To the soft snore of you.
A smile plays on my face,
And I listen.

You sound so happy when you sleep.
But I crumble completely when you cry.
My entire being calls out for you.

I’m in a place I am happy with.
I don’t want to see his face.
Once upon a time he was,
My knight in shining armor.
Now he’s just a memory.

The hurt,
The pain,
The torture!

My mind can’t handle it anymore.
My body is tired from him.
My heart is shattered because of him.

You wrapped your arms around me,
And I felt safe.
You let your heart reach for mine,
And I did the same.

I am in a place,
I never want to leave.
His face isn’t here.
Once upon a time he was,
My knight in shining armor.
But now, that armor is on you.
He’s a memory,
And you are my present.

He is a memory,
Memory,
You are my everything," I finished singing and she had this expression on her face. It wasn't mad, but it wasn't happy. I am confused.

"Is it bad?" I asked.

"No, no, that was amazing," she said and wrapped her arms around me tightly out of the blue. I was shocked at first, but then I wrapped my own arms around her.

"Are you going to record it?" She asked after she let go.

"I don't know, should I?" I asked.

"Yeah, you should make your own album and become a performer," she said.

"Oh no, I'm not a performer, I write songs, that's it," I said.

"Come on, it would be awesome!" She exclaimed and I shook my head.

"I don't mean to disappoint, but I don't want to be a performer," I told her and she looked down.

"It's alright, I understand," she said and began playing with the buttons on the board.

"I'll record a couple songs and put them out, but I'm not gonna perform them live, unless I am forced to," I told her and she shrugged.

"Whatever," she said and then looked up.

"What have you two been doing?" I heard my mom ask.

"We wrote a song," I smiled and looked at her.

"You did? Are you going to record it?" She asked.

"Maybe," I said and my mom sighed.

"Well, I guess I can't exactly tell you that you have to anymore, but Tyler can," she said.

"Did you seriously give up the label?" I asked. She nodded and crossed her arms. Damn, she has never given up anything that easily. I looked down at the paper and then at Rayna. She was looking at me with a smile.

"I'm gonna head home now," I told my mom and she nodded. I got out of my seat and left.

My hands were hiding in my sleeves as I curled myself on the chair. Andy was sitting, or laying, on the couch, watching The Dark Knight.

"Did you have fun at the label today?" He asked suddenly.

"Yeah, I met my brother, I found out that one fan I met at the party thing is my niece, and I wrote a song," I smiled and he looked at me.

"Really? Sing it," he said.

"Andy, I am not in the mood to sing," I whined and he laughed.

"I will tickle the shit out of you, sing it," he exclaimed and I gave him the death glare before starting to sing. As I got to the end, he was giving me a look. When I finished he was looking off to the side, confused.

"You hated it didn't you?" I asked.

"Who is it about?" He asked as he sat up and leaned over the couch near me.

"Starts with Colton, then turns into you," I said.

"Okay, then I love it," he said.

"You know what Biersack? My niece wrote the fucking chorus," I said.

"I'm not hating on the song Sadee," he laughed.

"In other news, my mom is not longer the label head," I said and Andy gave me a look.

"Really? Who is?" He asked.

"My brother," I said.

"Oh shit, I'm gonna die," he said.

"No you're not, if I were still with Colton, he would have died, but I'm not so you are safe," I said and leaned over to kiss him.

"We have the weirdest relationship," he said.

"We do," I said. We may be weird, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Notes

New song has been written. It might suck, I don't know. You tell me. But then we got to see more dorky Sadee and Andy. I love writing dorky Sadee and Andy. And when I said her hand were hiding in her sleeves, I meant Sweater Paws. Hope you liked it!!!!
