HEART OF FIRE

The rest of the week passed in a blur for Sophie what with College and Dance Troup on a Wednesday and Friday, she was often busy. However when she wasn’t she somehow found herself thinking about Andy and ended up texting him. She found it nice to have some to talk to that wasn’t her mom or her sister.

On Saturday morning when Sophie woke, she did something she never normally did… check her phone. Much to her surprise and happiness, she had a message from Andy.

Morning Soph, hope u slept okay do you fancy meeting up at Costa? X

Sophie looked to see that the message had only been sent 15 minutes ago so Andy shouldn’t have made any other plans or changed his mind.

Hi Andy I did thanks I just woke up and I would love to meet up, what time? X

Sophie began rummaging through her closet to find something to wear as last time Andy had seen her she’d been in a black vest and grey joggers as usual for dance and they had only ending up getting coffee all down them. Wait why was she caring what Andy saw her in its not like she was trying to impress him or anything. Her phone bleeped, telling her Andy had answered.

Aw little sleepy head. How about in an hour? X

Sounded reasonable…

Sounds good see u in an hour x

Andy soon replied

See you in a hour x

Sophie looked out of the window. It was a really nice day today so she was definitely not wearing anything that would make her sweat… something cute and cool. Eventually she decided on a pair of denim blue shorts, a plain white tank top and some white pumps. She put her long blonde hair into a high ponytail and applied a little make-up.

“Cute and cool,” Sophie smiled.

“I’ll say… where are you going?”

Sophie turned to see Amber stood in the doorway.

“Out,” Sophie replied.

“Ooo that’s not like you… who are you going to meet?”

“Who says I’m going to meet anyone…”

“The way you’re dressed,” Amber said, “So who is he or she?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Sophie said as she grabbed her phone and keys and pushed past her sister, making her way downstairs. Amber followed, still not giving up.

“Aw come on sis don’t be a spoilt sport!” Amber said as both girls entered the kitchen, “You’ve got to tell me!”

“Tell what?” their mom said.

“Sophie’s going out can you believe it!” Amber announced, “And with the way she’s dressed she’s clearly going out to meet someone but she won’t tell me who!”

“Is it to meet that Andy lad?” Karen asked her daughter.

Sophie glared at her mom.

“Who’s Andy?” asked Amber, “What am I missing?”

“Never you mind!” Sophie said now feeling frustrated, “Mom I’m eating breakfast out so you don’t need to bother with mine!” and without another word she left the house leaving her mom and sister bewildered.

“Why can’t they just mind their own business?” Sophie muttered to herself as she stood at the bus stop. She really wasn’t in the mood to walk right now. “I have no privacy where Amber is concerned which is why I didn’t tell her about Andy but then mom has to go and say something doesn’t she? At least I didn’t tell mom more about Andy because she’s probably telling Amber everything I told her the other night… and if Amber knew she wouldn’t leave me alone she’d stalk me everywhere I go!”

Sophie’s mood didn’t improve when the bus arrived and to be honest it worsened when she got to the mall. When she got to Costa, Andy wasn’t in sight meaning she’d arrived first but she messaged him to let him know.

I’m in Costa, where are you? X

Just got to the mall I’ll see u in a sec x

And sure enough within the next couple of minutes, Andy appeared.

“Hey there,” he grinned as he sat down with her.

“Hi…” Sophie mumbled.

“What’s wrong?” Andy asked sensing the upset tone in her voice.

“Family…” she answered.

“Oh… can I help at all?”

Sophie shook her head, “No I don’t think so…”

“Is there anything I can do to cheer you up?

Sophie shrugged, “I don’t know…”

“Hmmm… do you like Theme Parks?” Andy asked.

“As in like with Rollercoasters and all that?”

“You bet!”

Sophie nodded, “Yes why?”

Andy stood back up, “Come with me!”

Curious, Sophie followed Andy out of Costa and out of the mall to the car park. Andy stopped at a black mustang.

“Wow nice car!” Sophie’s jaw dropped.

Andy smirked, “You coming for a drive?”

Sophie nodded, “Sure where are we going?”

“It’s a surprise…”

“Oh okay… how long will it take?”

“To get there? About 40 minutes…”

Sophie smiled; excited to see where this was going.

“Well then let’s go!”

The pair got in Andy’s mustang and left the mall car park. 40 minutes later they arrived at a place Sophie hadn’t been since High School.

“Six Flags!” Sophie gasped, “Andy what are we doing here?”

“Well you needed cheering up and what says happiness than some good adrenaline rush from a Theme Park?”

“Andy I don’t know what to say…” Sophie looked at him, happiness shining in her eyes once more.

“You don’t need to say anything, let’s just have a good time yeah? You’re smiling again already!”

Sophie blushed and Andy smirked.

“Oh and by the way if I may say… you look really beautiful today.”

“Thanks Andy.”

“No problem sugar.”
