An Unexpected Love

Brittany’s POV

I woke up with a killer headache. I didn’t open my eyes again, because the light had blinded me that bad. I could tell the bus was moving, and it almost rocked me to sleep again when I realized I felt something wrapped around my waist. I slowly opened my eyes so I didn’t blind myself again, and found an arm wrapped around my waist. The question was; whose arm? I tried to turn to see whose arm it was, but it tightened around me, and I couldn’t catch the face. So…new plan of action. Last night was really blurry for me, but I could semi remember some things.

I…I remembered Ashley and I playing a drinking game. I lost. Great. Ok, what else…it seems drunk Brittany got a little flirty with Purdy. Grrrrrreeeeeeeeaaaaaaat. Then…we kissed. Man. I felt like face palming right now. I knew about Ashley’s history with women. I mean, sure, people could change, but I didn’t just want to be another woman under his belt, you know? I felt him stir, so I closed my eyes and acted like I was still asleep. I felt him kiss right under my ear, then groan.

“What about you makes me want you near me at all times?” He whispered against my skin. Wait. What? Did he just say what I think he said? Suddenly, my leg went numb. Wonderful. Good thing I was acting asleep or else I wouldn’t be able to pull this off. I sighed, and then started to turn over. That’s when I realized the way I was facing put my face directly into his chest. Not that I’m complaining. That man has a nice chest. I sighed again, and I felt him shiver.

“Ashley.” Uh oh. His name left my mouth before I could stop it. He started to play with my hair.

“Jigs up. I know you’re awake.” I sighed and looked up.

“How long have you known?” He smirked.

“When you said my name just now. How you feeling?” He had concern written all over his face. I looked at him suspiciously.

“Fine. Why?” He looked down.

“Well…um…cause you got really drunk last night so…”

“Oh yeah…speaking of last night…” He looked at me. “What the hell happened?”

“Umm…nothing really…”

“Yeah right. I know we kissed. But after Andy…interrupted…us…I really don’t remember. I mean, hell why am I in your bunk? We didn’t…”

“No. And which kiss do you remember?”

“Whoa whoa whoa. Which kiss? I only remember one kiss, not more than that.”

“Just testing your memory.” He looked away again, but kept playing with my hair. I squinted my eyes at him.

“Look at me, Purdy.” He looked at me, but he was more staring at my lips then my eyes. I ignored that. “How many times did we kiss? Truth and nothing but the truth.”

“Twice.” He said it so quietly I had to listen close. I took a deep breath, not sure if I wanted to ask the next question.

“Who kissed who the second time? Again, I want the truth, Ashley.” He looked into my eyes so intently; I had the urge to look away. But I didn’t.

“You kissed me. After I was done telling Andy off, you giggled and said ‘I don’t mind. In fact…’ then kissed me. I mean, yeah, I kissed you back, but you were drunk. It’s not like you knew what you were doing.”
“Trust me; I knew what I was doing. And so help me God, I would do it again.” He looked at me, and I looked right back at him. I could feel the gap between us get smaller and smaller, until I groaned and closed it completely, smashing my lips onto his.
