Land Of F.E.A.R

Ambush

We'll burn away
And free our fallen brothers
From shackles made
Of steel and bones of soldiers.

The tears were streaming down her cheeks and as she sat straight up in bed, Perry could feel her heart thumping against the inside of her chest. What she had seen-who she had encountered-had left her shaking and as she looked around she didn’t even realize that she was screaming. Andy was sitting on the edge of the bed, his hands on her arms and Perry just kept looking back and forth between him and Maggie, who was now sitting on the very end of her bed. What should she tell them? Looking at Maggie, looking into her worried green eyes, Persephone knew that she had no choice. F.E.A.R was coming and they would stop at nothing until the Wild Ones were ended.

“Persephone?! Perry are you okay?” Someone was asking her and as Perry looked around and noticed that the entire room was up and now circled around her bed she knew she had to say something.

“They’re. Coming.” She managed to get out between sobs and Andy’s blue eyes, usually so calm and contained, grew wide and wild as he moved to get off of the bed and speak with someone behind him.

“Perry-what do you mean they’re coming? Who’s coming? Who’s coming Persephone?!” Maggie was screaming at her, her beautiful face twisting in to a look of fear and pain. Perry just sat by and watched as CC grabbed Maggie around the middle and carried her off to a different part of the room.

People were rushing around her, but Persephone could only sit by and watch everyone else move around in panic. F.E.A.R was coming, but that wasn’t the worst of it. No-the plans she had seen…the blueprints for the large container, they were playing over and over in her brain and Perry continued to cry. She had seen the plans for F.E.A.R’s ultimate revenge not only on the Wild Ones, but on the country itself. The large building that had been drawn out in those plans was basically one large room and from the looks of things and from what she could remember, it was solid except for the floor. The floor had the ability to open up, dropping whatever was in the room down in to a pit below, but that wasn’t the worst. Persephone closed her eyes as she thought back to what exactly F.E.A.R was building out in the desert…

A gigantic gas chamber.

It was obvious that F.E.A.R now planned on killing everyone that they had captured and possibly even more people. They would then round them up like cattle and in small groups, take them in to the chamber and kill them. The floor must open up to a burial pit, one that was pretty deep to fit so many people. Persephone shivered as she looked around-everyone had left the room and it looked like a tornado hit it. There were clothes, bed sheets, toys…anything and everything was now strewn across the floor and the beds as people had tried to gather as much as they could in their escape. Where had they gone? Did anyone notice she wasn’t with them? Perry looked around and finally she noticed that Andy had come back in through a door that was usually locked and he was looking around for something.

“Perry! Come on!” He said, almost growling at her, as he grabbed for her wrist and tugged her up. His black hair, still long on one side but shaved short on the other, kept getting in his blue eyes and Persephone could barely breathe. What was going to happen?

“Perry I am so, so sorry you had to see what you saw, but you have to tell me…what’s going on?” Andy asked as they walked down a long hall quickly. She noticed that he kept stopping to close doors behind them, pulling large locks in to place and she suddenly felt trapped.

“They…they aren’t just coming Andy. F.E.A.R has…they’ve built something.” Perry said, her voice breaking at the end and Andy finally stopped walking as he turned to her and looked down. His blue eyes had dark circles around them and his usual smirk was absent from his lips in that moment. She had to tell him…she had to tell him everything.

“What have they built Perry?” Andy asked and Persephone only sighed as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

“I saw plans for a gas chamber. They have built a huge gas chamber to kill all of those people we’re getting ready to rescue. That’s not all Andy…” She was biting down on her lip now and while Andy loved Perry like a sister, he wanted to hit her right now. She needed to spit it out and she needed to do it now.

“Persephone. Tell. Me.” He said through gritted teeth, his patience all but gone. They needed to move and they needed to do it quickly, but he had to know what she had seen.

“They have your mother and father…they have the parents of all of the Wild Ones and…they have Dess’ mother.” She closed her eyes and Persephone could hear Andy’s breathing kick up. She almost got whiplash from him pulling her so roughly and soon she found herself rising up a flight of stairs.

Where were they going? Perry opened her eyes and she noticed that the stairs had a thick layer of dust on them-no one had been up them in years-but the dust had been disturbed. There were footprints and some of the dust had been kicked up into the air and was now tickling her nose. Andy shoved himself against a solid looking door and finally it popped open to reveal something that took Perry’s breath away. They were in a church, the huge stained glass windows giving off a red glow as they watched over everyone behind the pulpit. Not everyone from camp was there, but Mark and the other boys from Wickenburg were over in the corner, pulling armor over their heads and painting their arms and faces black.

Jinxx was in one area, getting weapons ready, while Jake and Ashley were together trying to help some of the older girls get ready as well. CC and Maggie were sitting on the steps of the pulpit, his tattooed arm around her as she cried against his chest. Persephone looked around-Odessa was ripping black cloth into long strips and she looked sullen as her moss green eyes concentrated on her work. Andy led Perry towards the center of the room, the gleaming wooden pulpit stand in front of them as he cleared his throat. CC and Maggie stood up, moving so that they could look at Andy and Perry noticed that Odessa had jumped up and was now at his side.

”Legion! I need all of you to listen to me!” Andy shouted out towards the back of the room and as Perry looked around she noticed that there were more people here than she thought. All of the older teens and adults were here-everyone but a few and the children of course.

“Something terrible has happened! F.E.A.R has figured out where we sleep at night-not only that, but they have a sinister plan for us all…and our families.” There was a collective gasp and Perry noticed that fat tears were rolling down Odessa’s cheeks. She had lost her sister and Perry knew that if they didn’t move fast that she was going to lose everything…they all would.

“They have our families! Our parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters-they plan to murder them in cold blood and we have to stop it!” Andy yelled out and Persephone could hear people breathing it was so deathly silent. Everyone was captivated by Andy and Perry could see why.

“I have brought you all here because our plans have changed-they have forced our hand and there is no way we can sit by and allow them to just take everything from us! I know some of you are worried about the little ones, but they are being kept safe in rooms that are hidden and near impenetrable. We will all now ready for battle-we must hurry to HQ so that we may possibly beat F.E.A.R at their own game. We have Persephone and her gift to thank for the warning, as without her I do believe we would have been caught off guard.” Andy was looking down at her now and Persephone could feel her cheeks flame.

“Ready yourselves! We leave at sunrise and we do not come back until we have rescued as many as we can!” Andy finished and there was a collective cheering from the group before they all dispersed. Andy turned towards Perry then and smiled before nodding her off towards the armory.

Jinxx was there to help her get a padded vest over her head and she was given a black mask with a long nose to help hide her face. F.E.A.R had installed cameras in all of the dungeons and while they knew the identity of most of the rebels of the Legion of the Black, they had to still be careful. Odessa, with her red and tear filled eyes, walked over to Persephone and began to cover her arms, legs, hands and feet with black tar paint-this would allow them all to blend in to the dark halls of the F.E.A.R HQ and allow them to hopefully go undetected. As she was covering her arms with paint, Persephone noticed that Odessa looked like she wanted to say something.

“My mother Perry…did you see her? Is she…is she still alive?” Dess asked, her voice broken and sad. Perry bit down on her lip as she looked towards the girl and nodded.

“She is, but they have found her and plan to place her in the gas chambers with the first group. I-I’m so sorry Odessa.” Persephone said and Dess only smiled as she began to cover her own arms with the black paint. Persephone noticed that Andy had stopped what he was doing-he had been helping Mark and some others with weapons-and now he was rushing over towards them.

“Odessa…what are you doing?” He asked as he placed a hand on her shoulder and Perry watched as the older girl just shrugged him off and they looked at one another. There was something unspoken going on between the two and Perry suddenly felt uncomfortable.

“I’m going.”

“No. No you’re not.” Andy’s voice was strong and he now had both hands on his fiancé’s shoulders. Their eyes were locked on one another and there was a sadness that passed between them.

“They have my mother Andy…I can’t lose her too.” The blonde said sadly and Perry felt her heart stop as Andy’s eyes filled with tears and he only nodded.

They were all going and Persephone knew as she looked around the room…some of them would not make it back alive.

@SummerTimeDreamer

Good thought, but it won't happen. Andy lost his true love and Perry lost her's-they're just friends.
