Fallen Angel

Case of Amnesia

While sleeping, I felt my memory fading into what seemed like a dream, a dream I slowly began to forget as it progressed. I was running from something-a monster perhaps, but I wasn't certain. I only had that eminent since of danger that pushed me to keep moving. I kept running until I was knocked down by--again I can't remember. Something happened after that; it was important. I pressed on the memory trying to retrieve the missing pieces while holding onto what was still there, but it was a struggling tug of war with myself. I pressed harder. There was... A boy, a boy with long jet black wings facing away from me hovering over a body. He was wearing black clothing-- boots, leather pants, leather jacket, and strieks of paint down his arms. The boy had a katana that he raised above his head in his two gloved hands, blade pointed fiercely at the body resting at his feet. There was a strong light after that, red I think, and then
there was darkness. What happened after that? Something dripped from my forehead, and I reached up to touch it. Water maybe? Sweat..? It was so dark I couldn't see anything. A glowing mirror appeared. My entire body was practically coated in blood, clothes torn to threads, and bruises everywhere. What happened!? Right before this, what happened? I tried to remember. It was only seconds ago. The mirror faded into some screen that displayed my room. I watched myself burst through the door. No, don't go in there! I tried to warn myself. Then there was a man. I tried to narrow in on his face. I've seen him before... Focus! I told myself. I need to remember! I searched his face, every millimeter I went over as many times
as I could before the memory dissolved. His jagged hair cut, his strong blue eyes, blood red lips, a Black stitch line from his mouth to the back of his jaw, flaring black lines from his eyes, a perpendicular line under each of his eyes and across his checks from both sides of his face. I had to remember.. It was fading fast...

When I woke up, I instantly grabbed my sketchbook and pencil. I barely remembered anything, but i made sure to remember the black winged boy. I drew and drew everything I could remember about this winged figure. His clothes, his wings, his face, profile, everything. When I finished sketching everything about him that I could recall, I dropped my pencil and flipped back to the pages that I had just marked all over. I stared and re-memorized his face. What's wrong with me? It was just a dream wasn't it? Why am I getting all obsessive about it? I continued scan over them. Flipping the page, I gazed down at the one of his face. Stroking my finger over the image, I smiled. I may not remember why I was eager to remember you but I know it had to be important. I'm never one to get worked up about someone else. Closing my sketchbook, I plopped myself back on my bed and gazed up at the ceiling as a sigh escaped my mouth.

"Man, I haven't drawn like that in forever!"

When I was younger, I would draw all the time, and eventually got really good, My classmates would always ooh-and-aw over the drawings I would bring to school, and eventually I would bring sketchbooks that I would keep just to show to all my friends. I smiled. I used to have a lot of them, but the all drifted off. But what did I expect? I didn't have anything else to offer people, and when it became common knowledge that I can draw, they started to lose interest, almost like an old toy. I eventually became the "weird" girl" who "didn't have a life to get to." The girl who would fade into the background while everyone else mingled and enjoyed themselves. I frowned. I guess that's why I haven't drawn much lately. Why draw when one else was going to see it or care about it? Art was meant to be admired and with no one around to admire it, what's the point?

I groaned as I rolled over on my side and wrapped my arms around end of the big pillow that I was resting my head on. "I wonder where those old sketchbooks are anyway.."

Reaching for my phone on my nightstand, I froze when I realize that it wasn't there. Springing up, I felt all around my bed but it was no wear to be seen. Maybe I left it in my clothes from yesterday. I combed my fingers through my slightly damp hair as I sat up and walked to my bathroom. Weird... I didn't remember taking a shower.. Come to think of it... I don't remember coming home from the store... I brushed it off as me being to tired and just being out of it. When I got to the bathroom, I noticed my clothes on the floor were... Covered in blood... Fear struck me once more. I egged myself to look at the mirror. I was just standing there curly damp black hair draped over a purple robe. Slowly I unraveled my robe, but there was not a mark on me. The only blemish I had was a small birthmark on my lower hip. I sighed in relief, but my attention was redirected to my clothes. My face cringed as I picked up my jeans and searched the pockets until finally, I pulled out my phone and clicked it on.

"Shit!" It was almost noon. I was going to be late for work.

Just as I was about to dart out the bathroom, my hand caught the door edge and I peeked back it. Quickly grabbing the clothes, I threw them in a trash bag and then ran to my closet to throw some clothes on. I was still brushing my hair by the time I was running down stairs and heading out the door. I worked as a waitress in a theatrical restaurant where we dress up mostly as maids and butler's but will occasionally have themed days similar to cosplaying. Tonight's theme was horror movies. The pay was really good not to mention the fact that I always loved being able to dress up. The restaurant also has live entertainment from comedy to bands which will sometimes dress up as well to match the themes but not always. Today I think we were supposed to have a live band, Black Veil Brides I think they were called. They sounded interesting and couldn't wait to see what they bring to the table. From what I've heard they
were into theatricality at well.

When I got to the restaurant, My manager quickly created me with ha half-hearted and panicked 'Hello' then threw a Black bag containing my costume for the night, and then she disappeared into the dimmed lights. I walked/jogged into the locker room and slid into a pin-up Freddy Kruger outfit. It had a red and black long sleeved mini dress with slits cut diagonally down the mid section. The outfit was complete with some fishnets, black knee high combat boots, Brown gloves, and a hat. Once I was finished, I took a quick look in the mirror and headed out. I worked for a total of 5 hours waitressing tables before the live band finally started setting up. I was bringing a party of six their drinks when I heard a startling low and strangely familiar voice come on the intercom. My head turned toward the stage.

"Good evening everybody." there was a pause for applause. "We are Black Veil Brides."
