We're Setting Worlds On Fire

Feelings

Lily was one with the Earth-she was one with the sky. She was one with water-she was one with fire. This mantra-a calming technique that Gabriel had taught her-was all Lily kept running over in her mind as she laid in her bunk. The show that night had been great, all of the guys had done an awesome job and Andy had preformed his ass off. But as quickly as she could blink, Andy was off the stage and out the side door.

Lily had wanted to follow him, but things were going to be awkward because of their kiss and there was no denying that fact. She had spent time with Ashley, helping him out and talking to him softly when Andy had walked back in, scowling at them both and then he had disappeared again.

As she laid there, her soft black and purple pajama pants keeping her warm, Lily felt herself being lifted up. Great-who was bringing her home this time? Usually it was Michael, calling her home because he missed her and he needed to speak with her, but for some reason this time Lily didn’t think it was him. As she floated upward, Lily looked back down over her shoulder and sighed-their bus was still parked in that dark alley and Andy had yet to return. Down the street was a huge church and Lily smiled softly as she listened to the gentle jingling of the bells.

Lily blinked as the light in front of her eyes had grown brighter and as the light washed over her, she shut her eyes and let the feeling of being at peace wash over her body. She missed home-she missed floating around, feeling the wind ruffling the feathers of her wings and she missed walking around with Michael and Metatron. The two brothers always made her laugh, although Metatron-who she had nicknamed Mets because it was shorter-didn’t talk much. Being the voice of God was hard-it would be hard for any Angel, but Metatron had taken on the task without complaint.

Finally she felt her feet land on solid ground and as she landed, Lily looked around her and smiled. She was in the Viewing Chamber and there were fellow Angels walking around, their long white dresses or robes sweeping across the floor gracefully. Lily walked over to one of the columns, her fingers reaching out to softly touch the delicate petals of the roses that were climbing up the marble. So many of her hours and days had been spent in this room, especially at first. Lily had found great comfort in watching over Andy and the guys-it helped her days and her years go by faster.

Sadly her watching over them had become a distraction to her training and Gabe had almost put a complete stop to it. The first few hundred years Lily would sneak in here when Gabe was busy and usually she was accompanied by Michael-he loved to watch over Andy and Lily thought it was probably because he had a major crush on the singer. As she stood there, Lily was shocked to see that a lot of the Angels were vacating the area, but there was one lone figure who was looking over one edge of the balcony, his back to her as he remained silent.

Lily walked forward, smiling because she now knew who this was-his fire red hair and stooped shoulders gave him away and she was shocked to see him here. Metatron. He rarely left his small room-only at the insistence of Lily or Michael and even then he would walk around with them for a bit, but shortly after he would disappear again. As she walked towards him, Lily smiled as he turned around, his freckled cheeks and nose up into a wide smile as he held his arms out for her. Lily fell against him, her eyes closing as he wrapped his arms around her tightly and held her there.

She had missed this…she had missed being home with her friends.

“Mets-you brought me up here?” Lily asked as she pulled out of their hug and looked up at her near silent friend. He was smiling at her, his lavender eyes shining and there was something behind his eyes-a glow that Lily had rarely seen.

“He did not bring you here-I did.” The voice that came out of Met’s mouth was not his own and very quickly Lily bent down to one knee and looked up at her friend with reverence. This was not her friend speaking-it was God.

My Lord-I’m happy to hear from you.” Lily said, her voice low as she felt a hand rest under her chin and slowly she rose. Mets was standing before her, his hands clasped in front of him as he looked down at her with a gentle smile.

“I know it has been some time since we last spoke my dear. But I am here because I need to speak with you…” Mets had placed an arm around her shoulders and Lily could feel herself shaking. God loved his Angels, but he would strike them down with little notice. He was a great figure, but he had a tendency to have a quick temper.

“O-oh?” Was all Lily said and Mets only smiled at her more as he led her over to the other side of the Viewing Chamber and motioned for her to sit against the balcony.

“Not to worry, not to worry. How have things been going down on Earth? I’ve been keeping an eye out, but I have so many children to watch over…” His voice was soft, understanding and Lily felt herself calm down some.

“Things are well, however bumpy as I’m sure you can imagine. The boys were not as receptive to me at first-believing me to still be their friend. They have finally realized that that is not the case.” Lily explained. She was sitting with her back as straight as a pin and her lavender eyes were focused as she looked to her friend.

“You are still their friend dear Lily-surely you must know that.” His voice was strong and deep, so much different from Mets’ normal shrill tone.

“No-no I can’t be their friend and their leader…” She was slightly frustrated by his tone. Did God actually expect her to remain friends with three humans and two Demons?

When Lily had fallen to Earth, she knew things were going to be hard for her with the guys. They would still see her as Lily, the human girl who was sweet and kind and shy. But soon enough they had found that no, she was not that same girl and in fact she wasn’t a human girl at all. She was an Angel, sent down from the Heavens to kick their asses in to shape and make sure they stopped slacking off. After a few weeks of being on their asses all day every day-Lily had finally begun to see them respecting her. So why was God acting like what she had done was wrong?

“You listen to Gabriel too much.” He was smirking at her and Lily couldn’t help but smile back. Even God knew his eldest son was a little overzealous at times.

“I just don’t know what to do-I feel like I’m making things worse by being hard on them and yet they won’t listen to me otherwise.” Lily said sadly and Mets only smiled at her.

“They don’t respect you or your ideas because they feel like you don’t love them anymore Lily. Love is power…not strength or the ability to make fire with your hands…” God explained to her and Lily held in her sigh. If love was power-then why had it been taken away from her?

“Love makes you weak…that’s why Gabriel took it from me. I was weak and unable to do what needed to be done.” Lily said, her tone guarded and Mets-God-only laughed at her softly.

“I love my eldest son, but he wouldn’t know love if it hit him in the face. You love Andy…still to this very day, I know it.” Lily blushed-she had been feeling something for Andy lately. Was it love?

They had been close the past few days-he had been going through things with finding out about Lattie and Lily had wanted to be there for him. She needed him to move on-remain focused on their goal and by being there for him, Lily was hoping she was accomplishing that in some way. They had grown in to a comfortable routine-Andy would wake up, get Lily out of her bunk and then they would go train. Sometimes they ran for a few miles, just to keep his stamina up and then they would find an empty building and began to go over things that needed to be worked on.

He still looked at her like she was the most precious thing in the world and Lily knew that he still loved her very deeply. When he had kissed her earlier that day-Lily hadn’t been mad or angry. She had been shocked and then she was shocked even further when she reacted to his touch and leaned in to him. It felt nice, being with someone like that again.

Lily didn’t remember much about her time before being an Angel, but what she did remember always made her feel warm inside. Cuddling together at night, sitting across from one another as they bounced song ideas off of eachother in the back of that crappy van. Having someone protect her and love her…those were things that Lily remembered and they were the things that she missed terribly.

“Gabriel took your love from you and your memories, but I’m going to give it back to you…” Lily opened her mouth, shock lacing her angelic features as her friend just smiled at her and began to rub his hands together. There was a soft pink glow coming from his palms and Lily quickly stood up, her hands held out in front of her defensively.

“M-my Lord-I’m begging you…I’m much better off without that little flaw. Please…let me just stay unfeeling and numb…” She felt scared and Lily watched as Mets stood, a soft smile playing on his lips as he approached her.

“Lily-my sweet child-you need this…Andy needs you and he needs to know that you still love him. He won’t win this War without that knowledge…” He had reached her and Lily shut her eyes as Mets grabbed her arms and held her in place.

His hands were warm against her skin and Lily felt like she was on fire. Every inch of her body screamed out as he touched her and she shut her eyes, silently begging for it to be over. As he touched her, holding her in place, Lily saw every single memory that she had forgotten flash before her eyes. Her dying when she was human, going to Hell, seeing Andy for the first time and so much more.

The nights spent together, laughing and teasing one another-the first time she had ever watched him perform and the sense of pride that filled her soul. Before she opened her eyes, Lily saw one more vision and she felt like crying-the first time they ever made love. Slowly the pain ceased and as she opened her eyes, Lily found herself laying back in her bunk, the soft strains of a guitar filling the quiet air.

How had she gotten back here? All she could remember was Mets walking over to her, touching her arms and then feeling an immense amount of pain go across her body. Lily looked down at her arms, her legs and her t-shirt covered torso-she looked okay and she even felt okay. What had happened then? Suddenly Lily felt a wave of emotion flow over her, tears springing to her eyes as she sat up and looked around. No, no this couldn’t be happening…this wasn’t supposed to be happening to her anymore.

Suddenly she was crying, the tears falling down her cheeks and Lily was too scared to wipe them away. She was feeling again…she could feel every emotion washing over her body in a matter of seconds and it was terrifying. She wasn’t supposed to be feeling…anything ever again, but here she was, crying her eyes out at the fact that she felt a complete sadness wash over her.

She had died and she had left Andy behind. The memory of dying, of looking up into those crystal blue eyes of his was haunting her in that moment and it only made Lily cry harder. Where was that music coming from? Suddenly Lily realized that someone was awake besides herself and she quickly swung her legs over the side of her bunk.

As her feet hit the carpeted floor, Lily couldn’t keep the smirk from her lips as she heard CC snoring in his bunk above her own. She still had yet to tell him about Brianne, but Lily knew she would have to let him know before he found out himself. Quietly the Angel walked down the hall, her eyes scanning the bunks to see if anyone else was awake. Andy’s bunk, which was right behind hers and closest to the back lounge, was empty and Lily now knew where the music was coming from. Silently she placed her hand against the wooden door to the back lounge and slid it open as quietly as possible.

Andy was sitting there, a guitar in his lap and his green notebook spread out in front of him. He looked exhausted, but Lily knew that when Andy had something on his mind, sleep was impossible for the tall singer. As she stood there watching him, Lily held her breath as Andy flicked his hair out of his eyes, picked the guitar up and began to strum the strings. The words coming out of his mouth in that hushed tone he always got were enough to bring tears to her eyes as Lily stood there and watched him silently.

I never meant to be the one
Who kept you from the dark
But now I know my wounds are sewn
Because of who you are
I will take this burden on
And become the holy one
But remember I am human
And I'm bound to sing this song

So hear my voice remind you not to bleed
I am here,
Saviour will be there
When you are feeling alone, oh
A saviour for all that you do
So you live freely without their harm

As he sang and Lily watched, she felt a warmth grow in her heart. She looked at him, sitting there in his ripped skinny jeans and Rancid t-shirt-his arms and neck still covered in traces of black paint…she was reminded of the old days. The days when they laughed hard and loved even harder and that’s when Lily knew.

She loved Andy, she always had, but now she could feel that love within her and she was scared to death…

Notes

Before any one asks-Lily is NOT human. She is still an Angel and will always be an Angel. She died, went to Heaven and still has a job to do. Andy and Lily also are not together-they kissed and they love one another, but they aren't not a couple.

If you would like for me to update this on thursday instead of friday then please feel free to...

@FallenAngel26

Aww I'm so glad you liked it! This series was really fun for me to write because I was able to put so much imagery in to it.

Just finished this series and oh my gosh! I can honestly say that a fan fiction had not made me cry until now. This story hit me right in the feels, expecially the 'just tonight' chapter. It just makes me so sad that they love each other so much but they can't be together. Anyways I love your stories, they are some of my favorites on this site :).

I just have to say that after reading this I now look at God Bless You as a way of telling Satan off

@Truly A Teenage Runaway

Aww well thanks! Start with A Love By Mistake as that is actually where this story is supposed to go. I warn you-I have A LOT of work haha so it may take some time.
