We're Setting Worlds On Fire

LA Dreaming

After two days in the car, four fights over where they were going to stop and eat and twelve games of truth or dare, Lily had never been so happy to see the LA skyline come into view. They were only going to be home for two weeks and then it was back out on the road for the Leather Wings Tour. All of the guys seemed to be happy to be home, but Lily could tell that Andy had become distracted.

After their argument that first night where she had told him that love wasn’t fair-he seemed to do nothing but write in that old green spiral notebook. Sometimes she would hear him and Jake in the back of the van, talking about chorus lines, bridges and riffs. Lily just left them alone though-this was something that they needed to do.

“Are you happy to be home?” Someone asked Lily and as she turned around she noticed that Jinxx was looking at her.The two of them had kind of drifted back into their old friendship over the past two days on the road, something that Lily found comforting.

“I suppose. Where am I staying?” Lily asked as she looked away from the guitarist and scanned her eyes out the window. Everything looked the same as it had always been-crowded, dirty and too expensive…LA had been and always would be her home. But right now Lily was more concerned with actually having a place to stay.

“Oh Andy lives with Sammi and I now-so you can crash with us. It’ll be just like old times!” He laughed and Lily only remained silent as she thought back to those old times.

The first place she and Andy had ever lived was the huge building that Jinxx had for runaways and it had been perfect. As Lily sat there she could remember that very first night with Andy-how awkward she had felt sleeping in the same bed as him, but it had been nice waking up to someone. T

hey had fallen in to a routine after that where Andy would walk her to work, then pick her up and they would get takeout on the way home where they would eat and watch Batman until 4 am. He would usually carry her up to bed and Lily sighed as she remembered how safe she had always felt in his arms.

From the very first time she had ever gazed into those blue eyes, Lily knew that Andy had been the one for her. He loved her, without even saying anything she knew that he loved her and when he had finally said it out loud Lily had felt complete. All her human life she had drifted around, barely having any friends and the one close friend she did have had taken her own life.

Lily had hoped that Brianne would be brought to Heaven, but sadly Lily watched as her friends soul was taken from the Pits and the young girl was turned into a Hybrid. Lily knew she needed to tell CC about what happened to his younger sister, but she knew that she would be unable to do it without getting emotional.

One by one they dropped the guys off-Ashley and CC were sharing a studio apartment and Jake was living with his girlfriend Ella. Finally the van stopped, pulling into a covered garage and Lily knew that they were home. Thoughts ran through her head as they stopped and both Jinxx and Andy, who had been driving since Jake got out of the car, began to gather their things.

Lily thought about a lot in that short time-where was she going to meditate? Where could she practice her powers? What was Sammi going to say when the young girl saw Lily standing in her livingroom? How weird was it going to be when Andy tried to get her to sleep with him in his room, because Lily knew that that offer was coming. Suddenly she realized that she was the only one still sitting in the van and both guys were staring at her strangely.

“You coming Lil’?” Andy asked, smirking at her with that lopsided grin and Lily felt her knees grow weak. Her nickname-that cute little nickname that he had given her-plus the smirk…she needed to breathe deep and reevaluate things for a bit.

“Yeah…yeah I’ll be right there.” She said softly as she pulled down her shirt and moved to get out of the van. The warm air of LA met her skin and Lily closed her eyes as she turned her face towards the sun. In Heaven she had felt nothing-the sun on her skin, the coolness of water as it flowed over her…nothing. She had been a shell, a vessel…a warrior. Now here she was with the sun beating down on her and she felt completely human for a moment.

“Come on…you can sunbathe later.” Andy laughed as he reached down and grabbed for her hand. Lily gasped and Andy suddenly was flying backward, landing with a loud ‘ohf’ as he looked up at her from the bushes that had broken his fall. He had caught her by surprise and as a defense mechanism, Lily had shocked him with her force field and he went flying.

“You okay man?” Jinxx asked as he walked by, setting down the box of merch that he had been taking inside as he held out his hand for Andy to take. The singer only nodded as he stood up, dusting off his thighs and butt while his eyes were trained on Lily’s face. She looked shocked, like she hadn’t expected that to happen and silently Andy wondered why Lily constantly kept putting up a field around herself.

“Come on-we have a lot of shit to take inside. Lily-feel free to grab a few boxes and bring them in with you.” Jinxx called over his shoulder as he picked up his forgotten box and headed up the outside stairs. Lily watched as the guitarist stopped in front of a door on the second floor, and pushed his key in to a lock. There was a loud screech coming from within and then laughter-Sammi was home.

Lily watched as Andy just gave her a ‘I’ll keep my distance look’ and then moved towards the very back of the trailer. Ashley, Jake and CC had all taken their instruments with them, but according to Jinxx he and Andy agreed to keep all of the other equipment at their apartment. This included all of the merch and by the looks of things these guys were in need of some serious organization.

Lily cringed as she walked to the back of the trailer and noticed that shirts, hats, stickers, bandanas and patches were all just laying on the floor and the boxes that they had everything stored in were broken or falling apart. Lily had been a very organized person when she had been human and she knew that this was going to be her first task: getting these guys to get their things together so that they were easier to find and wouldn’t get damaged on the road.

Lily picked up a box and then noticed that it was really light, so she added another and then another. She smiled as Lily realized that she had three boxes in her arms and yet it still didn’t feel too heavy-being an Angel did have its perks and strength was one of them. She turned around, almost knocking head first in to Andy, who was just looking at her with one eyebrow raised. Lily only narrowed her eyes at him, dodging around him as he tried to take one of the boxes from her.

She could handle this-he needed to realize that Lily wasn’t the same weak girl that he had known a year ago. She was different, she had a purpose now and when Lily focused her mind on something she did it with as much vigor as she could muster. Lily only chuckled to herself as she climbed the steps and soon she was standing in front of Jinxx and Andy’s apartment door. She couldn’t turn the handle and so Lily reached out a foot and kicked the door loudly.

“Do you need some help?” A voice asked from behind her pile of boxes and Lily only smiled softly as she realized who was standing on the other side of her: Sammi. The girl couldn’t see Lily because of the boxes and Lily knew that her reaction was probably going to be a loud one.

“No-no I’ve got it thanks.” Lily said as she walked past Sammi and entered the apartment. Things were neat and clean, the old couches looked comfortable and inviting and Lily knew that that was probably where she was going to be meditating for however long she had to be down here. Lily sat the boxes in one corner that was already filled with boxes, amps and guitars and then she turned to face Sammi.

“L-Lily?!” Sammi screamed, her mouth dropping open, her eyes were wide and the poor girl looked like she was looking at a ghost. Lily moved forward, when all of a sudden Sammi’s eyes rolled back in her head and she fell to the floor.

Great-fucking fantastic.

“What’s going on?!” Jinxx asked, rushing out from the back where he had been unpacking. The scene before him was a strange one-Lily was standing there with her hands on hips, looking sad and slightly scared and Sammi was laying on the floor, obviously having passed out once she saw her dead best friend standing in her living room.

Jinxx blamed himself-he should have sat Sammi down as soon as he had entered the apartment and told her what had happened. She probably wouldn’t have believed him until she saw Lily for herself, but at least she would have been more prepared. Jinxx walked over to the love of his life, kneeling down and placing a hand against her cheek as she began to come to.

He knew that Sammi had gone through a lot when Lily had died-the poor girl blamed herself for not forcing Lily to come with she and Ella when the two girls left the city. When Lily had died-when the paramedics had taken her body away, Jinxx had to make the hardest call of his life. He remembered how Sammi had sounded on the other line-like a wounded animal, she shrieked and cried until finally Ella got on the phone and told Jinxx that they were coming home.

He had helped her through the funeral and the burial, but even now-seven months after losing Lily, Jinxx knew that Sammi thought about her every day. They had grown close, working together every day in the shop and being together when the guys went out of town on gigs and so losing her had nearly ended Sammi’s existence.

Thankfully she seemed to have accepted things and Jinxx knew that everything would be okay-until now. He leaned in close, his lips touching hers softly as Sammi just looked at him and then her eyes grew wide as she sat up and pushed herself against the wall nearest the front door.

“Wh-who are you?” Sammi asked, as she looked up towards Lily. Her eyes were filled with fear and Lily felt her heart break slightly. If she had been looking forward to anything when she was falling to Earth-it had been the fact that she would see Sammi again.

“It’s me…Lily. I know there are a lot of things that need to be explained and I’ll tell you all about it later. But please just know that I won’t hurt you…I promise I’m not here to hurt you.” Lily said gently as she moved slightly closer towards the blonde before her. Sammi seemed to be thinking things over and Jinxx only smiled softly as he kissed the top of her head and moved to go finish unpacking his things.

The two girls needed to be alone so that they could work things out.

“It’s really you…” Sammi said as she stood up and Lily only nodded. Suddenly she was being enveloped in the tightest hug ever and Lily could only smile as she dug her head into Sammi’s shoulder and held the girl while she cried. Lily wished that she could cry-but not having deep emotions kept her from expressing even the little things.

“It is. I’m back and better than ever!” Lily laughed as she pulled away from Sammi and looked at the girl. Her face was red and tear stained, but there was a level of trust behind her light colored eyes that made Lily feel more calm. Maybe with Sammi’s help Lily could whip the guys in to shape before they left for their next tour.

The two girls stood there and Lily felt finally at peace. She couldn’t relax around Andy-she had to constantly be on guard with him because she didn’t trust him. Actually she didn’t trust herself, but she knew that she had to just stay as far away from him as possible. She had been warned that if she ever made a connection with Andy again that she would be punished and God was not as forgiving as Christians made him out to be.

Suddenly the front door popped open and Lily turned her head to face the door. Andy was standing there, boxes at his feet and his blue eyes were curious as he took in the two girls standing before him. Sammi was crying and Lily was just staring at him, her light lavender eyes filled with anger and fear.

“Did I miss something?” He asked and Lily only rolled her eyes as she moved away from Sammi and walked back to the bathroom. The door slammed and Andy only sighed sadly.

This was going to be harder than he thought…he only wanted Lily back to her old self…he missed his Lily and it broke his heart to see her like this. It broke him to see that she had grown to hate him so much.

Love wasn’t just unfair…it sucked.

@FallenAngel26

Aww I'm so glad you liked it! This series was really fun for me to write because I was able to put so much imagery in to it.

Just finished this series and oh my gosh! I can honestly say that a fan fiction had not made me cry until now. This story hit me right in the feels, expecially the 'just tonight' chapter. It just makes me so sad that they love each other so much but they can't be together. Anyways I love your stories, they are some of my favorites on this site :).

I just have to say that after reading this I now look at God Bless You as a way of telling Satan off

@Truly A Teenage Runaway

Aww well thanks! Start with A Love By Mistake as that is actually where this story is supposed to go. I warn you-I have A LOT of work haha so it may take some time.
