Together Burning Bright

Here Comes The Bride

Odessa moved her fingers quickly to fluff the white veil in front of her face and she couldn’t keep her tears at bay. It was a gorgeous spring day outside where soon enough they would all congregate to celebrate the marriage of two hilariously loving people. Dess knew then, in that moment as she watched her best friend look at herself in the mirror, that Katrina Evans had finally found her prince charming. It had taken years and it had taken a lot of patience and forgiveness, but finally Kit had been able to make things happen for herself. Dess sniffled and Kit only smirked as she turned around and faced her best friend.

“Oh stop…or else I’m going to start crying.” Kit said, holding her fingers underneath her bright green eyes. Dess only smiled as she took her best friend in-her white dress was a simple a-line with crystals and beading up near the bodice. Her red hair was up and out of her face, her long bangs hanging in front of one bright green eye that was smokey and seductive.

“That would be a site-Katrina crying on her wedding day.” Dess smirked as she moved to grab for her bouquet and then handed Kit’s over as well. This day-this April day-was making Dess remember her own wedding and she couldn’t believe it had been almost four years.

“Are we ready for this girls?” Beth asked as she came up, her light yellow dress blowing in the slight breeze that was coming in from an open window.

“What if I fuck this up D? What if this entire thing just bombs?” Kit asked nervously as the three girls, along with Arabella who was playing the role of flower girl, walked down a long hallway until they reached a set of double glass doors.

“You won’t and it won’t. This is what you’ve been waiting for Kit…this is who you’ve been waiting for for your entire life.” Dess said, her tears falling slowly down her cheeks and she smiled as Kit pulled her into a hug and squeezed.

“Thanks for the pep talk coach. Lets do this!” Kit smirked, raising her hands over her head and Dess only smiled as she turned around and faced the doors.

The day was beautiful-a gorgeous spring day in Virginia and they couldn’t have asked for a better one. All of the trees had blooms on them, their soft green leaves swaying in a gentle breeze. The aisle was lined with light yellow and blue petals and at the very end Dess noticed that the groom looked terrified out of his mind. Poor guy-didn’t he know what he was getting into? Dess caught site of Andy, who had a two year old Oliver in his arms and she waved to her husband and son softly. Oliver was dressed cutely in a small dark blue suit, his tie striped with light yellow and blue. He was the ring bearer, while Aria was the flower girl.

Dess looked down at her four year old daughter-dressed in a light yellow dress that made her look cute and angelic with those light blonde curls. Aria was anything but-she was just as Andy had been when he was that age according to Gram Biersack and Dess knew that this child was always going to be a handful. Dess loved her though-her first baby-and as she wiped at her eyes Dess couldn’t believe they were all here. Kit had always said she would never get married-too much pressure and control from one person, but Dess knew that that was just a cover. Kit had wanted a wedding-a husband and a family and now it seemed like she may finally get her wish.

“What are you smirking about over there?” Kit asked, her voice thick from nerves and Dess only smiled as she turned from the window and faced her best friend.

“Just remembering our pact from eighth grade.” Dess said as she came over to her best friend, the skirt of her light yellow dress brushing up against Kit’s large white one. Dess smiled as she placed her hands on Kit’s bare tattooed arms and the two girls smiled softly at one another.

“Which one? We made so many that year…” Kit said, her bright green eyes glassing over with tears. If Odessa Biersack ruined her makeup in this moment-Kit was going to kill her.

“The one where we said if neither of us got married that we would live together, raising hundreds of cats and promised to always rock out to the best music-even if we had canes and dentures.” Dess laughed and Kit grinned. They had been so young then-so naïve to how things in the world really worked.

“I mean we can still rock out, even in our eighties. I’m sure our husbands won’t mind sharing us.” Kit laughed as she looked out the window and noticed that her groom, in his black tux, was shuffling his feet nervously. All of the guys were there-Andy, Jinxx, Jake, and CC. Of course Sleeping was there as well, but they were all sitting down.

“I think your soon husband to be would like that a little too much.” Dess laughed and Kit only rolled her eyes. It was time to get this show on the road.

“Alright ladies!” The wedding planner called out and Dess kissed Kit’s cheek one last time before turning around. Her bouquet with the light yellow roses and blue forget-me-nots was heavy in her hands and she took in a deep breath.

The glass doors opened and Dess watched as Arabella walked slowly down the aisle, dropping yellow rose petals every few steps while the music played softly. The group collected today was huge-not as big as Dess and Andy’s wedding, which was probably a good thing-and Dess could pick out a lot of familiar faces. All of the guys from Sleeping, plus some of the other smaller bands that Kit was managing on the side, were sitting on Kit’s side. Danny and the rest of the guys from Asking Alexandria, Sebastian Bach, and a few other rock legends were sitting on the grooms side and Dess only smiled-hardened rockstars crying at a wedding…nothing could be better.

Finally Aria made it to the end, standing where she was told to stand and Dess couldn’t help but feel proud of her daughter. Aria was like her father-hard headed and stubborn and of course the little girl had her own ideas of how she should get down the aisle. Cartwheels, drums, fireworks-the whole nine yards and that was just as Arabella walked down…Andy’s daughter for sure when it came to theatrics. Dess only smiled as Beth moved down the aisle, her husband and boys watching her and Dess saw the look on their faces. They loved their mother, more than anything and Dess hoped that her own children had those looks on their faces when they got older. It was her turn and before Dess moved down the aisle, she turned and wrapped her arms around Kit’s neck.

“I love you Kit Kat.” She whispered in her best friend’s ear and before Kit could respond, Dess had let her go and was walking slowly towards Andy.

His breath had caught in his throat and as Andy watched his wife walk towards him, he couldn’t help but be reminded of their own wedding. That day had been so special and magical that Andy knew he would never forget it-ever. Now here they were, watching two people marry and it was nothing short of a miracle that this was happening right now. As he stood there and watched Dess walk towards him, Andy could feel the change in the air. Everything was changing-the band was changing…their lives were changing. Jinxx and Melissa had gotten married over the summer, CC and Christy had welcomed a baby boy named Anthony in winter and Melissa was now pregnant with a child. Everyone was settling down and having families.

Dess made it down the aisle, smiling at Andy as he held Oliver and the two of them shared in a moment. It had been a shock to them all when Kit had announced that she was getting married-not just because the wild child vowed to never do such a thing, but also because of who the groom was. Dess turned and smirked at the nervous groom, receiving a small smile in return and a hush fell over the crowd as Kit began to walk down the aisle towards them. Dess watched Kit, but she also kept an eye on the groom and smiled as the tears ran down his cheeks.

It was like he was looking at an Angel walking towards him and Dess knew, much as she had known all those years ago, that these two had been meant for one another. They had hit some bumps in the road along the way-but that made a marriage and a relationship stronger and more meaningful. Dess had always hoped that she would be around to see this day and she was eternally grateful that these two stubborn asses hadn't made any of them wait too long. As Kit finally reached them all, smiling as tears trailed down from her bright green eyes, Dess watched as bride and groom held hands and smiled softly at one another.

Katrina Evans and Ashley Purdy had been made for one another…it just took them forever to see that.

Dess listened as the justice of the peace spoke to the group softly and she caught Andy’s blue eyes. He looked dashing in his black tux, his dark brown hair cropped close to his head and his blue eyes were filled with so much happiness. They were both remembering the same thing-their own wedding day and how they had felt then compared to now. That day had been filled with so much happiness, but a fear had loomed over them like a great storm. Would Dess live to see their marriage through? She had been so sick then and they hadn’t know why, but as Odessa looked away from her husband and down at her daughter…her sickness had been a blessing.

“Ashley, I know we have been through so much in our lives-we even hated one another at a point in time. But I’m here before you today, giving you myself and everything I have in my life. I never thought I could find that perfect love-I didn’t want to for the longest time-but you are that love and I know together we can make the world burn.” Kit said, her voice filled with tears and Dess felt her heart stop. Ashley was crying, like a freaking baby, as he reached for Kit’s hand and took them in his own.

“With this ring-this band of eternal love-I give you my promise of today, tomorrow and forever.” Kit said as she placed the silver band on Ashley’s left ring finger and the two smiled at one another. Nothing would ever beat Andy and Dess’ vows, but that was okay.

“Katrina-I never thought I would ever find someone in life who understood me. I was an ass and I deserved everything you ever gave me in life, but as I stand before you now, I know that waiting out the storm was worth it. You’re my everything-my hopes, my dreams…my life. I wanted a perfect love, I told you three years ago that I would wait for that love forever and I just want to thank you for not making me wait too long…” The bassist was crying, his voice thick with tears and he smiled as he turned to Andy and got the small ring from Oliver’s hands. The black and silver band, with tiny black diamonds ringing the side, shined in the sun and Dess couldn’t keep her tears at bay.

“This ring is my promise of forever…it’s my promise to love you and to be faithful to that love forever. I love you Katrina Evans…I’m pretty sure I always did.” He said softly and the couple laughed as he slipped the ring on her finger and everyone grew silent.

“As long as there are no objections-I now pronounce you man and wife…you may kiss your bride!” The justice said and Kit and Ashley both laughed as they looked over their shoulders at Andy and Dess before going in for their first kiss as man and wife.

Dess clapped her hands together, smiling so much that it was making her cheeks hurt and she couldn’t keep her eyes off of Andy’s. This had been them a few years ago and then it had been Jake and Ella. CC and Christy had eloped, but they had all watched as Jinxx and Melissa married one another under a full moon this past fall. All of the guys were married now-all of them had found their perfect someone’s and as Ash and Kit kissed under the same tree that Andy and Dess had-everyone knew that things were changing.

Notes

Surprise! Meant for one another all along haha. Now all of the guys are married, having kids and settling down. There's another baby coming up-but who's is it?
