Together Burning Bright

We Are Family

The warm summer air was filled with the delicious smell of cooking meat and beer. Dess smiled as she walked out through the sliding glass door, a platter of cut veggies and dip in her arms and the sounds of kids playing in the yard made her smile widen. It was summer time at the Biersack house, which meant that it was also time to record another record. So much had happened since the winter time-Ella had given birth to a little girl that they had named Margaret, Aria had turned three and Oliver was growing like a weed. Christy, CC’s wife, was expecting their first and Dess couldn’t believe that the drummer and her long time friend was going to be a father.

The guys had gotten a lot of practice in with Arabella and Henry and the group was finally figuring out how to do the whole touring with a family thing. It was strange to Dess-this group of guys had been so wild and crazy when she had come into their lives and now they were all settling down. Even Ashley, newly engaged and thrilled with that fact, was ready to settle and start a family of his own. Dess only smirked as she looked out into the yard and then placed the platter onto the glass topped table that sat on their wooden deck.

Arabella and Henry were running through the sprinkler that Andy had set up-both kids had grown so much and Dess couldn’t believe that her baby girl was already three years old. She was running around, her wild blonde hair sticking to her neck and face and her pink and purple bikini was sliding down her tiny hips. Andy was at the grill, a spatula in one hand and a beer in the other while he talked to CC about something to do with the new record. It would be their fifth and all of the guys were excited to be working on another album. The fourth had done well, but it hadn’t done as well as they had wanted-not compared to Wretched and Divine. Dess knew that that record would probably always be the shining beacon in Andy’s career.

“It’s so nice of you to have us here for the summer Dess.” Ella said from her chair, a sleeping three month old Margaret in her tan arms. Dess only smiled down at the new mom and then looked to Christy, who was sitting beside Ella.

“No problem-we love having you guys here and Aria loves having Henry to play with…so do I because it keeps her occupied.” Dess laughed and the other two women joined in. Aria was screaming at the top of her lungs, her blue eyes bright in the sunlight and Dess only laughed. Andy’s child through and through.

“Where’s Oliver?” Christy, who was three months pregnant and showing, asked and Dess only smiled. Oliver was peacefully sleeping up in his crib-having a sinus infection and needing the extra rest.

“Upstairs napping. Poor guy has a sinus infection.” Dess said as she took a seat and pulled her drink closer towards herself. It was so nice being home-being able to relax and enjoy her life instead of constantly being on the run.

“Aww, Henry had one last month-those are not fun.” Ella said as the baby in her arms stirred and Dess peeked over the side of the blanket. Margaret looked just like Jake-deep brown eyes and dark hair while Henry with his dirty blonde hair and light greenish blue eyes looked just like Ella.

“So Christy are you excited for the baby to get here?” Dess asked as she took a sip from her drink and looked over at the girl sitting across from her. The red head smiled, her blue eyes soft as she placed her nicely manicured fingers on her belly and looked off to where CC was now running through the sprinkler with the kids.

“Yeah, yeah I really am. I wasn’t sure at first-I mean CC is like a giant kid anyways, but he’s so good with Arabella and Henry.” She said and Dess only smiled, nodding as she heard the kids scream and she looked over her shoulder. CC and Ashley were both chasing the two kids around and around and Dess could only smirk-that’s right, make them tired enough to get to bed early.

“When are you having another one Dess?” Ella asked and Dess only smirked. If it was up to Andy she would be pregnant already, but Dess wasn’t taking any chances this time around.

Andy wanted another child so badly-Oliver was walking and talking now and her little boy was no longer a baby. Dess loved babies-especially her own, but she also loved not having to get up in the middle of the night every four hours for a feeding. Oliver slept through the night-he kind of always had and Aria was finally sleeping in her very own big girl bed. Andy and Dess had gotten back into the routine of going to bed together, sleeping through the night and getting up around the same time. Now with the recording going on, Andy was up in the middle of the night writing and working on things, but he would still crawl in to bed, curl up beside her and fall asleep.

Of course Dess wanted more kids, but she also wanted to enjoy the two children that she already had. She had never realized how much you missed when you had two kids close in age-she had been busy taking care of Oli that some of Aria’s needs hadn’t been met. The girl was well taken care of, but juggling two kids and essentially two careers had been hard and Dess needed to just let everything be. Aria was starting to learn the piano, something that she seemed to love even at three years old and Dess knew it was only a matter of time before Oliver picked something up.

Dess looked up, her sunglass covered eyes staring off in Andy’s direction and she smirked as he winked at her and then blew her a kiss. Her husband-that wonderful, loving and caring man-was everything to her and Odessa couldn’t even begin to think about where she would be in life without him. He was so giving and he loved their children, making sure to spend time with each one because he knew it was only a matter of time before he had to go on the road and leave them behind. Their marriage wasn’t perfect and they still fought, sometimes to the point where Andy slept out in the studio, but it was theirs and they loved it.

“Not for awhile. I’m happy with the two I have and I want to watch them grow alittle bit before going for round three.” Dess laughed, smiling as Andy looked towards her again. He had finished grilling the chicken and was currently plating everything up.

“How do you guys keep things so fresh? You’ve been married for what-three years almost and it seems like you guys are still in the first stages of dating. Puppy love…” Christy smirked and Dess only smiled softly. Everything with Andy was always new and exciting because that was his personality. He loved to keep her guessing and he loved to see her laugh.

“Date nights. Brady comes over when she’s not in class and watches the kids. Andy and I just treat our marriage like a new relationship and everything else falls in to place.” Dess smirked, thinking back to their last date night. They had gone out to dinner and then come home, but instead of going inside and collapsing on the couch-they stayed in her car and made out for over an hour…in their own driveway.

“I remember when the two of you got together-it was so adorable watching you tease Andy relentlessly.” Ella said and Dess only smiled at the thought. She hadn’t meant to be cruel to Andy, but she had also wanted to be cautious with her heart and her feelings. She had been burned before and Dess knew that playing with fire often led to second or third degree burns of the worst kind.

“I didn’t tease him! I just didn’t want to give in…he always seemed like things came to him a little too easily and I wanted to give him a challenge.” Dess said, laughing as Andy looked over at her and gave her that lop sided grin of his. Suddenly there was a tug on her arm and Dess looked down into a pair of crystal blue eyes.

“Mommy?” Arabella was standing beside her, her blonde hair curling from drying in the sun and Dess noticed a spray of freckles had begun to form across her tiny button nose.

“Yes baby?” Dess asked as she turned to her daughter and smiled. Watching Aria grow into such a vivacious and funny girl had been the best part of being a mother and Dess could only imagine what this little girl had in store for she and Andy.

“I got a booboo.” Aria said, her voice sad as she held up a finger and Dess looked down. There was a tiny cut on the child’s finger-probably from a piece of thick grass. Dess only smiled at her daughter softly and then picked the girl up, placing her in her lap and immediately her shorts got soaked from Aria’s wet bottom.

“Want me to kiss it better?” Dess asked and the small girl only nodded her head. Dess smiled, pressing her lips to the finger infront of her face and soon enough Aria was smiling, her thumb in her mouth as she curled up against her mother’s chest.

The small girl was getting tired and Dess knew what was coming-a meltdown. Arabella, in all of her adorable blonde curls and blue eyes, was scarily like her father in more ways than one. It was funny to watch Andy and his daughter sit beside one another because their mannerisms were so similar and it always made Dess laugh. Aria was passionate-just like Andy had been at her age, except she wasn’t passionate about being a rockstar, much to Andy’s dismay.

Aria loved animals and wanted to be a vet when she ‘got older’ and Dess only laughed. It was never a question of ‘can I be a vet?’ it was a statement and she knew that one day her daughter would achieve her goals. The only bad thing about Aria being just like Andy is that she got grumpy…just like Andy.

She would pout those perfect little lips, crossing her arms over her chest and stare you down until she got what she wanted. She also had a bit of a control problem and Dess knew that was going to get her daughter in to trouble one of these days. But she was funny and she loved to perform-being cooped up on a bus when you’re two and a half…kids tend to get really good at making things up. Aria would run around the bus, singing at the top of her lungs silly songs that she had made up or she would even sing BVB songs. No matter what Dess loved Aria, more than life itself and she knew the little girl would always be her first baby.

“You hungry Bells?” Dess asked the girl, who only nodded her head since her thumb was still in her mouth. Thankfully Andy had heard Dess and soon enough a plate of very tiny chicken slices, some chips and a cut up hot dog was sitting on the table in front of the mother and daughter.

“Thanks babe…” Dess smiled as Andy placed the plate down and then kissed her on top of her head before making another plate for his wife. Watching Dess feed bits of food to Aria and seeing the small girl smile and giggle as Ashley teased her from across the table, made Andy smile.

“Is the wild Arabella content for now?” CC asked as he walked over to where Andy was standing, his own plate in one hand and beer in the other. Andy only smiled as he watched his wife and daughter eat and he realized that there wasn’t much else in the world that made him happier.

“For now. You ready for your own little one to show up?” Andy asked and the drummer only smiled. Andy hadn’t seen CC this happy in a long time and while everyone thought that he and Christy were crazy for getting married so quickly, it turned out to be a pretty good thing.

“Dude I am so stoked. Chris said she’s pretty sure it’s a boy, something about how the baby is sitting in her stomach or whatever, but honestly I don’t really care. Boy-girl…I’m just happy to have a family finally.” CC said as he bit into his burger and Andy only smiled as he looked at his own little family once again. Dess was feeding Aria bits of chicken in between her own bites and the little girl was smiling and making faces at Jake.

“I know what you mean man… I know exactly what you mean.” Andy said as he took a swig of his beer and then sighed.

He had never known that a family is what was missing from his life, but as Andy looked at his wife and daughter-he knew now that his life was perfect. No amount of high record sales or sold out shows was going to give him the type of peace in his life like watching the mother of his children take care of everything that was important to him.

Andy was happy…blissfully happy.

Notes

Another fluffy one for you guys-are you seeing a pattern? I didn't want any more drama, so most of these chapters are just going to be about Andy and his family, the guys and their families. Which their families are obviously growing. Jake and Ella now have two kids, CC and Christy are getting ready to have one, Jinxx and Melissa are together and Ashley is ENGAGED. Do you know what happens when you get engaged? You get married. Guess who gets married in the next chapter? Guess who you guys get to meet in the next chapter...
