Together Burning Bright

More Milestones

Andy smiled as he looked around the hall that they had rented for Oliver’s first birthday and he couldn’t believe this day had come. His son-his first son-was turning a year old and Andy couldn’t believe how fast everything had gone. Aria had only been a little over a year old when Dess had come to him and told him that she was pregnant again. They had hoped for a boy and then at her five and half month sonogram, which Andy was present for this time, the technician had smiled and told them that she was sure it was going to be a boy. A few months later and Oliver Reid came in to his life and Andy was still in awe.

Oliver was so much like Dess that it was almost scary-although Andy shouldn’t be too shocked since Arabella was his little mini-me. But Oli-he had that cool pensive way about him, not to mention his mother’s eyes, her smile with that one dimple and her tinkling laughter. Aria was pure Andy and as he looked down and noticed that she was running in circles while laughing loudly, Andy couldn’t believe his luck. He had a wife that he loved more than anything and she was currently getting Oli’s cake set up on a nearby table. Plus he had two children who he loved and who seemed to both adore him and love him just as much.

The hall was festively decorated in lime green and light blue polka dots and Andy smiled as he looked around at everyone who had come. Jake and Ella-who was almost ready to pop with their second child-were over by the food table talking to Jinxx and Melissa. Little Henry was playing with Aria and Andy wondered if the two would grow up to be best friend’s just as he and Jake were best friends. CC and Christy were talking to Ashley, who had a beer in his hand and a smile on his face. It had finally come out who this mystery woman was and Dess and Andy couldn’t be happier to hear about her.

As Andy looked up and noticed that Oli was out of his seat and was currently using the ledge of a table as something to balance on, he couldn’t keep the smile from his face. They were growing up so fast-Oliver had been talking for a few months now and Aria was going to be three in less than two months…where had the time gone? Andy laughed, running a hand through his dark brown hair as he walked over to Dess and kissed her on the cheek. She smiled as she looked at him from over her shoulder and Andy just gave her an impish grin.

“Everything, as usual, looks amazing baby.” He said in her ear, his hands wrapping around her waist as Dess only smiled and leaned back against his chest.

“Thanks-I’m just happy we could make this happen while on tour, but it made every one being here a lot easier.” She said and Andy only smiled as he looked around. They were in Nevada and it was one of their off days, but soon enough the guys would be back on stage.

“We’ll be going home soon enough…I know you miss it.” Andy said and Dess only sighed as she pulled out plates and napkins and began to get everything set. She did miss home-she missed their little routines that they had gotten in to and she missed being free to do whatever she wanted.

“I do, but I’m happy to be on the road with you.” She said, her voice sad and Andy knew that Dess was growing tired of the constant movement. It had been hard for her this time around-with Aria wanting to constantly be doing things and Oliver being under a year old…Dess had a lot on her plate.

“Well we’ll be recording again at the house this summer…maybe we can work on that other baby we’ve been talking about…” He said, his strong voice low in her ear as he trailed his hands over her stomach and Dess only smirked and swatted at him with a set of napkins.

“Oh stop! Oliver just turned one and I’m having a hard enough time keeping your daughter preoccupied!” She laughed and Andy only nodded, kissing her neck as he walked away from his wife and looked around.

Arabella was sitting on the floor beside Henry and the two of them were playing with one another quietly. It had been nice this time around having Ella and Henry on tour because it gave Dess some company and the two moms could take breaks while their kids played, but the two kids were a handful. Aria hated being on the bus and she would cry whenever they had to travel between states, but there was no helping it. The small girl was going through a major Disney phase-not shocking since Dess was a fanatic-and all the group watched was either Frozen, Little Mermaid or Lion King.

Sadly Aria didn’t have the love for Batman that Andy and Dess did, but Oliver seemed to be obsessed with the caped crusader. Andy knew that Oli was going to grow up and be just like his mother. He was calm and collected almost 90% of the time and when he did get angry he got very angry-just like Dess. He also seemed to be mesmerized by art-he loved to watch Dess sketch and sometimes Andy would find the tot sleeping in his mother’s arms as she sat in the back lounge and worked. At home Oliver was always in Dess’ art studio and it seemed like he found a peace when he was in there.

Now Arabella-God that girl had some energy built inside of her. She loved to run and play and she couldn’t sit still for more than a minute. The only time she was calm was when she was standing on the side of that stage, her little pink noise cancelling headphones over her ears, and she watched her daddy run around on stage. Dess would always put her into little Black Veil Brides t-shirts when they came to the shows and it made Andy happy to see her there. She was his biggest fan and as he looked down at his precious daughter in her light blue tutu and sweater he wondered if that would always be the case.

“So I heard you saying you want another kid…” Someone said from behind him and Andy only smirked as he turned around and faced his best friend. Ashley was standing there, beer in hand and his sunglasses on top of his head and just smirking at the singer.

“Yeah, well it’s not going to happen any time soon.” Andy laughed as he clapped Ash on the shoulder and the two guys looked around the room. Everyone seemed to be having such a good time and Andy knew that this was one of the only times they had all been together on this tour.

“Yeah, I feel like maybe you guys should let Oli get to the age of two before you try again…see how bad he is with his terrible twos.” Ashley smirked as he nodded his head over towards the floor and Andy followed his gaze. Aria was sitting on the floor, her arms crossed over her chest and she was now scowling at Henry.

“Aria-be nice.” Andy said, a warning tone to his voice and the little girl just looked up at her father and pouted. Andy, at first, had given in to that pout almost every single time she did it, but now he knew all her little tricks and he was all but immune.

“No!” The little girl said as she looked up at her father with the most identical defying look that she could muster. Ashley just laughed as father and daughter squared off and Andy finally sighed as bent down and got on the child’s level.

“Yes or no ice cream. You be nice to your cousin Henry.” Andy said forcefully and the small girl only huffed and began to play quietly with the tiny brown haired boy.

“Nice man…” Ashley said and Andy only laughed as he looked around once again. Everyone had plates in their hands and Andy noticed that Dess was getting ready to get the cake going. Oliver was in his high chair, his own tiny cake waiting for him and the two men walked over.

There was a chorus of Happy Birthday and soon enough Oliver was demolishing his cake, the green and blue icing staining his face and tiny hands. Andy had a piece of cake in his hands and Dess only smirked as she walked over to him and kissed his neck before slipping her own bite into her mouth. This was what he had always wanted-a big family that could laugh together and enjoyed being around one another. He loved his parents, but Andy had had a very lonely childhood, but that was mostly because he wanted it to be that way.

Dess moved around, leaving Andy to watch over Oliver and the singer could only laugh as his son, with his reddish hair and green eyes, played in the cake for a few moments and then looked up at Andy. This kid was going to be a great guitarist someday-Andy could feel it in his bones and even though Dess kept telling him that he couldn’t push the kids one way or the other, Andy had a feeling for these kinds of things. Aria had already started some small piano lessons and Andy only hoped that she would be a great musician one of these days. Knowing her and knowing how much she took after him-Arabella Biersack was going to do something great in her life-no matter what.

“Come on buddy-lets get you cleaned up and out of that chair.” Andy said as he moved over towards the diaper bag, the black and yellow bats flashing across his eyes as he reached in and took out some wipes.

“You’re one today buddy-can you say one?” Andy asked, smiling as Oliver clapped his hands together and moved his face up so that Andy could get the frosting off of his cheeks and neck.

“One!” Oliver giggled and Andy only chuckled as he nodded his head and placed a kiss to the top of Oliver’s red hair.

“Good job bud. Come on…get going.” He said as he picked up the small child and set him on the floor. Oliver quickly got up on his feet using Andy’s leg as leverage and pretty soon he was wobbling in place.

Arabella had done the same thing for weeks before she walked for the first time and Andy knew it was only a matter of when before Oliver was moving around. He loved seeing his children learn and grow and he couldn’t wait to see them learn instruments and begin to find out who they were in life. He had known from a very early age-four according to his mother- what he wanted to do and that was to be a rockstar. Andy was hopeful for his own children, but he knew it was always up to them. As long as they were happy he didn’t care, but he still was going to try and give them a small nudge here and there.

Andy looked down, his jaw dropping open as Oliver began to take a step, his tiny fingers still clutching to the fabric of Andy’s jeans. Everyone grew very quiet and Andy smiled as he noticed Ella had tapped Dess on the shoulder and soon his wife was moving towards the two of them. Oli still had his fingers wrapped around Andy’s leg, but he was getting closer and closer to being too far away and Dess moved to rest her head against Andy’s shoulder as they all watched.

“Is he gonna…” Dess said and then she squeaked as Oliver finally took that final step and let go of Andy’s pant leg. The baby was wobbling at first, but as he went slowly he seemed to gain more balance and made it a few feet before tiring out and sitting down.

“Buddy!” Andy laughed as he went over to where Oliver was sitting and he picked the small boy up. Dess walked over, Aria in her own arms and the little family just smiled at one another.

“My brother is walking!” Arabella laughed as she got all wide eyed and placed her hands on her cheeks. Dess only laughed as Andy just smiled at her-this was his daughter after all.

“Yes, Oliver is walking and talking now…isn’t that great Bells?” Dess asked and the tiny girl only laughed and moved her head to face Dess. She kissed her mother’s cheek and Dess felt her heart grow warm. Arabella was Andy’s daughter, but she shared the same love for Dess that Andy did.

“Super great! Daddy?” Now the tiny girl, her blue tutu and sweater all crumpled, turned to face her father and Andy only smiled as he pressed a kiss to the top of her light blonde head.

“Yes my Angel…” Andy said and Dess only smiled. It made her happy to hear the two of them talk to one another. Andy would get this dreamy look in his eyes whenever Aria looked at him and Dess knew that he was wrapped around her finger for the rest of his life.

“Can I have another baby?” She asked and Andy and Dess only looked at one another, their blue and green eyes wide with fear. But they knew…this family was meant to be bigger and greater than it was now.
