A Demonic Love

In Strength Of Self, I've Become

Lily was laughing so hard that she had tears rolling down her cheeks and she was nearly doubled over so much that she was almost on the ground. She was at work with CC and it had been their slowest day yet-not one customer had walked through those doors all afternoon. So, in their boredom and because Lily had been feeling under the weather-CC decided that she needed to feel better.

It had all started when he was doing inventory and found a pair of skinny girl jeans that were bright pink. Lily bet him that he couldn’t get them on and now he was strutting around the store in them, his skinny hips swaying back and forth. To add to the outfit he had put on a purple and lime green crop top and his arms were covered in Hello Kitty bracelets. He had adopted a British accent and kept coming up to her, acting like one of the most obnoxious customers that he could imagine.

It was so like CC to do something like this and as Lily watched him she felt ten times better than she had that morning. Andy and she had gone to the gym to train and they had gotten into a fight when Lily had asked why he hadn’t trained her with swords first. Daggers needed to come first he said-something small and light weight so she could get the feel for handling something so deadly.

CC could see that she was bummed and so he was trying his hardest to make her laugh and it was working. Suddenly there was a soft dinging noise as someone entered the front of the store and Lily laughed even harder as she watched CC’s eyes grow wide. CC let out a high pitched yelp as he struggled to run back towards the backroom to change, almost tripping over his own feet and taking out several displays. Lily only shook her head as she stood behind the counter and looked towards the front of the store.

“Hi! How are you today?!” Lily called out towards the front door where there was a short girl with red hair who was currently smiling at her. The girl smiled even wider as she took Lily in and Lily couldn’t help but notice the bright green eyes that seemed to be looking at her intensely.

“I’m doing good. How are you today-Lily?” The girl’s smile seemed so familiar to Lily as she looked down at her and suddenly Lily felt like she had seen this girl somewhere before. Maybe at a local show she had been at recently?

The guys had finally formed a band and Lily was surprised at how good they sounded right off the bat. Jake had taken the role of lead guitarist, while Jinxx had stayed in his beloved role of rhythm guitar. Lily was shocked to hear that they had picked Ashley-Cal- to play bass and it shocked her even more to see that he was actually really good at playing bass. CC, of course, sat behind his beloved drums every practice and that left one role to fill: singer/frontman.

Andy had been kind awkward at first, not really knowing what to do and it seemed hard for him to find the beat when he started. But by their fifth practice it was clear that Andy was a natural at being a frontman. Where he was usually shy and reserved in private-he was the complete opposite when he hit that stage. He loved to engage with the audience, holding the mic out to them to allow them to sing along to whatever cover they were playing. The guys had only played a few small shows around LA, but Lily could see that they had what it took to make it. Andy had a fire within his eyes every time he put that mic in his hands. It was like he had something to prove-that he could hack it as a human just as much as he could as a Demon.

“I-I’m good. Is there anything I can help you with?” She asked, her smile small as Lily watched the girl closely. The red headed girl seemed to just be browsing, but one could never tell.

“Just browsing. I’ve never been in here before and I saw your window display from the street…” The girl called out to her and Lily felt herself relax a little bit. It had been a month since her terrifying attack and after training with Andy she was finally beginning to feel comfortable with being alone.

Lily and Andy had been training non-stop. What had originally been planned to be a twice a week thing, turned in to four to five times a week for three hours at a time. Lily was proud of her progress as she had moved passed the defensive stage and now Andy was starting to train her on little weapons. She could easily flip him at this point-something that had terrified her a month ago, but now Lily fell in to it with ease. He had relented earlier in the day, handing her a small dagger after their session to keep in her purse just in case. Even though this morning had been her first training session while holding a weapon, Lily felt deadly with it in her hands and even Andy agreed that she was good at wielding a weapon like that.

“Oh, well just let me know if I can help you find anything or if you want to try some stuff on.” Lily smiled as she trained her eyes from the girl’s face and looked down at her phone that was laying on the desk. Andy and she had finally been able to afford phones-very cheap phones but now they could stay in contact. Andy loved to text and he seemed to really like taking pictures of himself and sending them to her. Lily only shook her head and laughed as she opened a new one from him.

“Actually there is something you can help me with…” Lily jumped as the girl spoke from right beside her and as Lily looked over she gasped. The girl was a mere two inches away from her and Lily could see the freckles that were splayed across this girl’s nose. Why was she so close? It was making Lily slightly nervous.

“O-oh? What’s that?” Lily asked, stuttering as the girl only smiled at her. Suddenly a hand was wrapped around Lily’s throat and she watched with wide eyes as the small girl smirked evilly at her and with sheer strength lifted Lily up off of the ground.

Lily gasped as she grabbed for the girl’s hand and in her struggle she noticed the pointed tip of an ear poking out from the red hair on this girl’s head. Fuck-another one? Lily thought quickly and swiftly she kicked her right foot out, aiming for the girl’s knees and she smirked as she made contact and then fell to the floor. Lily rolled as she hit, crouching low to the floor on the opposite side of the counter as she waited with bated breath for the girl to attack.

Silence.

It was deafening and just as Lily thought the girl had given up there was a screech from the other side of the counter and something as quick as lightening came running at her. The two girls crashed in to a nearby display, causing everything to fall to the floor including Lily as she laid on her back, the small red head straddling her hips.

“Looks like someone has been learning some new tricks…” The girl snarled at Lily as the slight blonde only grunted and pressed her hands against the girl’s chest. She pushed with all of her might, lifting her hips into the air as she swiveled and soon Lily had the upper hand.

“Yeah well I needed to learn how to defend myself against creeps like you…” Lily said, her voice low as her eyes grew wide. The tiny girl only smirked at her as she pulled something from inside her jacket and the cold metal seemed to shine in the light as Lily looked on. Fuck-she wasn’t ready for a dagger fight yet. Couldn’t they just bite and pull one another’s hair like normal girls?

The Demon charged her and Lily jumped out of the way, tumbling to the floor and rolling until she was half hidden behind another display. She could feel her heart beating in her throat as Lily crouched low, her lavender eyes scanning over the floor of the store as she tried to watch for a pair of feet to come running at her. Where the fuck was CC?

She knew he had to have heard the noise they were making, but knowing him he had probably stuffed his ear buds in his ears as he finished up inventory. Suddenly there was a crashing noise and the display she was currently hidden behind was no more as the Demon came rushing at her, jumping over things and knocking them down. The two girls rolled around on the floor, the dagger flying across the concrete and Lily felt slightly relieved.

“You won’t get away this time little Lily. No brave savior here now to help you.” Lily had made it out of the girl’s reach, crawling backwards with her knees bent as the Demon came at her.

“I’m my own savior now bitch!” Lily yelled as she kicked out a foot, placing all of her weight on her hands. She smirked as her foot made contact with the fleshy part of the face before her and the small girl cried out as she flew backwards and landed hard on her back.

Lily scrambled to her feet, never taking her eyes off of the cowering Demon as finally CC rushed out of the backroom. He only looked around, his eyes wide as CC took in the state of the store. There were clothes strewn everywhere-displays had been knocked over, mirrors lay in the middle of the floor, the glass in them shattered and there was a tiny red headed girl laying on the floor, her hands to her face as blood gushed down her front. Where the fuck was Lily?

CC’s first instinct was that someone had come in and attacked the two girls and had run off with Lily. Andy had told the guys about Lily’s attack and while they knew she was learning to defend herself, how much could she defend herself against a grown man? CC quickly walked around the store and finally sighed in relief as he came upon Lily, sitting with her back against the desk, a metal knife clutched in her hands. She looked up at him, her eyes wild at first, but as she took him in she seemed to calm down.

“Fucking took you long enough C.” Lily grunted as she held out her hand and CC moved to help her up. Lily looked a site-her lip was busted and bleeding, she had a cut on her forehead that looked pretty deep and her clothes were dirty and torn. What. The. Fuck?

“I-I…what happened?” He could hardly speak as CC watched as Lily walked over to the other girl and he cringed as her tiny foot made contact with the cowering girl’s stomach. Lily looked up at him before she crouched low and held the knife to the girl’s throat.

“Call Andy.” Was all she said and Lily didn’t even look at him. What the fuck was going on? Why was Lily acting so weird and why was she holding this poor girl hostage?

“Lily. Tell me what happened.” CC said, his voice calm and he jumped back as Lily’s head snapped to face him-her eyes were angry and scared.

“Call Andy, CC. Just fucking call him. Now.” Her voice was calm, but as CC reached for his phone and scrolled through to find the right number he could tell that Lily was anything but calm.

CC placed the phone to his hear and after three rings Andy’s voice picked up on the other end. He was at work, CC could tell because he could hear music blasting in the background and then all he heard was Andy growling into the phone as CC explained everything that had happened-at least as much as he knew. There were questions. Was Lily okay? Yes. Was the other girl alive? Uh-yes. Did anyone else see? He didn’t think so.

After that last question Andy said he would be right over and then hung up. As he stood there, looking down at Lily and this unknown girl, CC almost felt a sense of pride well up in his chest. He remembered Lily as this little shy girl who walked around with bent shoulders, always looking down at her feet when she walked. Something had changed her though.

Her hair was that same light blonde color, with the same pink stripe that CC remembered Brianne talking her in to getting and he smiled. He missed his little sister, but having Lily around was like having Brianne back in a strange way. He was confused though-his mother had recently sent him something in the mail after he had talked to her on the phone about everything, mentioning Lily and how she was back in town. Two days later he had gotten a letter in the mail from his mom and attached was a clipping from their local newspaper. CC remembered feeling shocked as he read over everything and finally figured out why his mom seemed so confused. It wasn’t just any newspaper clipping she had sent him.

It was Lily’s obituary.

Notes

Uh-so Lily is kind of a badass.
Uh-oh...Lily's obituary? That means CC knows and Lily had a lot of explaining to do.

Please read and review, because I love you and you guys all love super awkward and cute Andy *hehe*
