Church Is In Session **COMPLETED**

Safe In A Mans Arms

There was a rush of people all trying to see what had recently happened to my best friend. She was currently sitting on the ground blood still pouring from the rip in her side. I felt someone rub up against me trying to take Esther away.

"NO!" I shouted still trying to make the blood stop.

"Catherine, she needs to be taken to the doctor!" I heard Andy's deep voice next to me.

I saw Jinxx pick up Esther as Andy held my arms while tears streamed down my face. "NO! SHE'S HURT!" I choked.

I had always been the only one who cared if she had been hurt and I was always the one who made her better. It hadn't been put in my head that others cared about her now too. She was being taken to get better.

I felt Andy threw me over his shoulder and I kick and screamed wanting to go with Esther. He put me inside my house and laid me down on my bed. I was still crying our her name.

"She's going to be fine! Jinxx has had injuries like this before! He'll make her better!" Andy yelled trying to make me still holding my arms and legs down.

I finally gave in and just cried into him. He released the grip on my legs and held me as I continued to cry. I tried to ask what happened but all that came out was gasps for air.

"Did you see what happened?" He finally asked.

All I could do was shake my head. He stayed with me for about an hour until I calmed down and my crying had slowed. When He stood to leave I grabbed his vest. "Stay?"

He let out a noise, "I should go see how she is doing..."

"Please?" I whined.

He gave in, sighed, and laid on the bed next to me. God, he smelled good. I rested my head on his shoulder and ran my finger across his markings. His skin got goosebumps and I stopped. He moved a piece of hair from my face then rested his hand on the other side of my back. I began to drift to sleep with the warmth of him next to me.

I woke up in the middle of the night to Andy shaking me. "Catherine! What's wrong?" He asked worried.

I must have been having a nightmare. I looked up at him, a worried look on his face. "Just a dream."

"She''ll be fine," he assured me.

"I'm just worried she won't trust this place anymore then go back into her shell." I said, "who could've done this?" I asked still looking at him.

"I might have an idea." With that he leaned back against the wall. "I'll make sure they pay for what they did okay?"

I didn't respond. What had we done to anyone here? We had barley been here a day and they were already trying to kill us? Was it just because they were afraid of change? Was it that man who had said that there were already too many mouths to feed?

The next time I woke was to the smell of Andy and light shinning threw the little window. I sat up to see that Andy was already awake.

"Hi," he smiled. "I hope you know you snore."

"What! I do not!" I said.

He just laughed, "I have to go check on Esther." He got up and headed toward the door. "I would suggest you stay here. I'll come get you when you can see Esther or when I find the guy who did this."

"Okay," I whispered.

When he left I was alone with memories of seeing my best friend bleeding in front of me, helpless. She stared at me waiting for me to do something. But what could I have done!? I had never helped someone who had been stabbed! What did she expect from me? Comfort? Sympathy? All I could do was hold her hand over the wound and cry that it was all going to be okay. I couldn't get the image of how her eyes looked into mine. The pain she felt. Like she thought she was going to die right then and there. The way Jinxx had just swept her away.

I finally got out of bed and wandered to the kitchen. My feet skimming along the straw floor. Passing the spot where Esther had laid down when we first got here. Was she coming back home? Was her injury to bad to be healed? Questions and "what if" scenarios ran through my head all morning. Andy told me to not leave the room but I couldn't take the silence.

I stood in front of the front door, motionless. Waiting for someone, anyone, to burst through and tell me that she was okay...or dead. I could hear people walking around, going along with their life, unaware of what had just happened.

I put my hand on the cold door and pushed it opened. No immediate harm surrounded me. I stepped out a few feet and was about to shut my door when Ashley came rushing in my house pushing me inside.

"Oh, no, no, no, no Andy said that you need to stay in here until he figures out what happened.

"No one has told me anything! I just wanted to know what is happening to Esther!"I I shouted.

"Jinxx is still taking care of her." Ashely said trying to calm me down. "Do you want some water?"

"No! I want to see Esther!" I flew my hands up almost hitting him.

"Okay fine, well you can't so just sit here and deal with it!" He yelled.

My eyes were starting to water, not because he had yelled at me but because this is exactly why we had left Camp H. And here these problems were following us.

"No don't cry..." he said hugging me. He didn't smell as good as Andy but hey, it was still someone to comfort me.

I wraped my arms around his waist trying hold my tears back. I sighed into his chest, his arms grew tighter. "I'm sorry, I'm not usually such a cry baby." I laughed pulling away slightly to wipe my eyes.

He laughed, "don't worry about it." He took his thumb and wiped away a new tear. "If my friend just got stabbed I would cry too." He smirked.

Jake came threw the door. "Hey love birds, you can go see Esther now." I threw Ashely aside and ran out the door. "Hold on!" Jake grabbed my arm. "Do you know where the doctor room is?" I shook my head, "yeah that's what I thought. Follow me." He laughed.

He was walking way too slow. I just wanted to see her. To see how bad she was hurt. I tried to push behind him to make him go faster but it wasn't working. I looked back to see that Ashley was following us.

"Could you go any slower?" I asked.

Jake laughed, "calm down we're almost there."

He took me threw a door that opened to a hallway. The third door we passed he opened. What I saw brought tears to my eyes. Esther was laying on a bed without sheets. She had the same pants on from yesterday and a bra on and a bandage around her waist. She look drained of all strength.

"Be gentle, she's resting." Jinxx startled me.

I sat at the foot of the bed. She slowly opened her eyes, she smiled when she saw me. "Hi," god she sounded dead.

"How you feeling?" I asked.

"Tired, my side hurts."

"Geez I wander why?" I laughed, when she tried to laugh she stopped and held the spot where she had been stabbed.

She cringed in pain and I mimicked her look not wanting to see her in pain. "Look I know you don't want to, but she needs to sleep so you need to leave." Jinxx told me.

I sat up slowly watching her eyes close. Jake and Ashley took me back out of the room. When we were outside Jake stopped in front of me.

"Um Andy found the guy who did it. He wants him to see you and..." Before He could finished I ran off toward where I thought this bitch was being held.

I was right. I saw Andy standing in the auditorium with a guy chained to a chair. I ran up to the guy not caring about what Andy had to say. I landed the hardest punch I could into the guys pretty little face.
