Results of c& s come in about 2-3 days after culture is taken. So 2-3 days after they knew he was septic. They would have had him on ideal antibiotics.

Let me help you out- keep Andy on antibiotics, and he's got a chance. ;). He needs a blood culture and sensitivity to see which antibiotics will be most effective. These are inexpensive, and any hospital would have already started running them as soon as they found he had sepsis. Compared to life support, cost of intravenous antibiotics is negligible.
