I Swear These Words are True
We wake up almost at the same time and say “I love you” in unison. We start laughing our asses off after that.
“I guess we’ve become the same person” Jinxx jokes.
“Apparently so”
“So, what do ya wanna do today?”
“I dunno, but I don’t like decisions, so you choose”
“Well it’s 2 p.m. so we could play music, then go to the movies and then have dinner”
“In a super fancy restaurant or like Olive Garden fancy restaurant?” I ask
“Super fancy. You’re my girl and I’m gonna spoil you so much.”
I smile and we go into his mini music studio. He doesn’t know what instruments I play besides drums, so when I pick up his violin he looks at me strange.
“What?” I ask
“I thought you played drums?”
“And pretty much anything with strings”
“Really?”
“Yea, when I found BVB I instantly wanted to play as many instruments as you did to one day impress you. Of course, then I didn’t think I’d ever get to meet you to show you the instruments I play”
“Well what songs do you know on violin?”
“I can play your Overture”
“I wanna hear that” He teases. He doesn’t think I can do it. Well I’ll show him.
I start playing and he’s instantly mesmerized. I play the overture perfectly and he stands there in awe. I finish the song.
“I think that’s better than I play it” he says
“I started practicing as soon as Wretched and Divine was released.”
“Well it certainly paid off, that was amazing”
“Really? I didn’t think I was that great at it.”
“Yes, really, I’d never lie to you”
I bite my lip and look down.
“You don’t believe me?” He asks, obviously hurt.
“Everybody lies, everybody leaves, life is just a game and in the end we’re all losers” I say kinda in monotone.
He just looks at me strangely.
“It’s what my mom told me before she left” I say quietly
“That’s the last thing she said to you?”
I nod “That’s why I believe that they didn’t want me, just the kids in school tell me”
“What about your dad? He has to have said something nice”
“I don’t even remember his last words to me. I think it was along the lines of ‘You’ll always be in the shadows because of our decision to leave’ but I’m not sure”
“Really? That’s kinda harsh… How old were you when they left?”
“Like 8 or 9”
“So they left about 10 years ago”
“Yea…They also left on my birthday and I’ve never celebrated it since”
“Well that was a stupid day to leave”
“I know… Can we go to that movie now?”
“Yea, I guess since it’s 3:00”
We head for his car and get in and drive to the closest theater.
“So, what movie you wanna see?” He asks me
“Despicable Me 2” I reply quickly. He laughs.
We go in and watch the movie. We didn’t buy anything from the snack bar because I brought candy. 5 dollars for a chocolate bar? Ain’t happening.
2 hours later we walk out of the theatre, tale a few moments for I eyes to adjust and then he asks where we should eat.
“So where should we eat at?”
“I don’t really know any restaurants in L.A…”
“I’ve heard that Bashan Restaurant’s good.”
“Well then let’s go there”
We rive to the place and find a parking space. They must be good since there’s no where to park. Probably 20 minutes later we finally find a parking space. The wait isn’t long in the restaurant, which is good.
“How many?” The server asks
“2” Jinxx replies
“Right this way, Sir and Madame”
We sit down.
“I’ve never been called Madame before. It feels so nice.” I say causing Jinxx to giggle.
We eat our meal and then head back out to the car. We drive home and walk into Jinxx’s bedroom. It’s only 7:30, but I’m super tired for some reason.
“I think I’m gonna go ahead and go to bed” I say
“Something wrong? It’s kinda early”
“Just not feeling that great”
“Well go get changed and I’ll find the thermometer”
“It’s fine, Jinxx, I just need sleep”
“You’ve been sleeping a lot. Are you sure nothing’s wrong?”
“I’m sure”
I go into the bathroom and get changed. I pull the razor blade out from behind my phone’s battery and make a quick cut. Sorry, Jinxx, for not quitting… I crawl in bed and Jinxx slips under the covers with me. He feels my forehead.
“You’re burning up” he says
“I’m fine, I just need sleep” I say dozing off.
“Fine, but if you still have a fever tomorrow, you’re going to doctor.”
“Fair enough”
I snuggle into his chest and he wraps his arms around me. It just feels so right to be in Jinxx’s arms. I fall asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
