Lauren Cooper was walking home from the library. She had been working on a paper for school and had lost track of time. Now it was dark and she was mentally kicking herself for not paying more attention to the time.

After she had been kidnapped and held captive by that psycho cop being out after dark made her jumpy. She had no idea why because she had been at home when he had kidnapped her. Maybe it was because she now knew how crazy people could be. Even those you were taught to trust all your life.

She turned the corner and noticed the street light up ahead was out. Great. She stopped and took a deep breath trying to calm herself down. She was being silly but she couldn't shake the anxiety that had tightened around her chest.

She crossed her arms and continued walking. Her heartbeat sped up and her senses seemed to become hypersensitive. She knew she was on the verge of a panic attack but there really nothing she could do to stop it.

She stopped again and started taking deep breaths. She leaned herself against the post of the broken street lamp trying to calm herself down. She jumped when a voice spoke from the darkness of the alley behind her.
"Are you alright?"

Her first thought was there was going to be trouble until she turned around. A boy who looked about her age was standing there in the darkness of the alley. She could barely make him out in the darkness, but there was something oddly familiar about him.

He stepped toward her and she tensed.
"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you. I just wanted to make sure you were alright. You look like you're on the verge of a panic attack. Do you need help?" He said with a look of concern.

His voice was deep though not quite as deep as Andy's. And then it hit her, that's why he had seemed familiar. He kind of looked a lot like Andy. This fact calmed her a little.
"I-I'm fine. It's just I'm not good with being out after dark." She finally said speaking for the first time.
"Do you want me to walk you home then?" He asked as he ran a hand through his hair.
"You're not going to tell me I'm being silly for being scared of the dark?"
"No, in fact, more people should probably worry about what comes out after dark." he said smirking.

He really looked like Andy when he smirked.
"You know, you remind me of someone I know." She said looking up at him.
"Really? Who would that be?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"Never mind. It's not important." She said looking down at the ground.
"Well, I hope it's not a bad thing that I remind you of this person."
"No, it's not. He's a really good friend of the family. As a matter of fact, he saved my life once." She said smiling.
"Well, I'm glad he did that. Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten to meet you. I'm Aiden, by the way." He said with a flirty smile.
"I'm Lauren. Do you still want to walk me home? We could maybe hang out a little more?"
"Sure, I'd like that." He said offering her his arm. "Shall we?"
"We shall." She replied looping her arm through his.

As they walked, Lauren realized that somehow he had made her forget about her fear of the dark. He had a comforting presence about him. He kept her laughing and kept asking her about herself. He seemed to be really interested in her and her life. It was nice.
"So, what about you?" She asked.
"I'm really not all that interesting." He said. "This is your house. Good night, Lauren. I hope we meet again soon." He said letting go of her arm.

She looked up and realized it was, indeed, her house. "How did you-?" she started to ask as she turned back to where he was, but he was gone. Where had he gone?

She shrugged it off as she walked into the house. Her uncle Kevin was standing at the window by the front door.
"Uncle Kevin, were you spying on me?" She asked laughing.
"Just seeing who you were talking to. How did you meet Aiden?"
"You know Aiden?" she asked surprised.
"Yes, he's a nice boy." her uncle replied with a smirk.
"How do you know him? He hasn't gotten in trouble has he?" she asked a little worried.
"No, as I said, he's a nice boy. Very polite and well mannered. I like him." Again he had that smirk.
"What aren't you telling me?" she asked suspiciously.
"Does he not remind you of someone?"
"Well, Andy, but...." She trailed off seeing the look on her uncle's face. "He's Andy's son? But how is that possible? He was only born two months ago."
"He's a vampire, Lauren. Apparently they grow faster than us humans." He answered with a chuckle. "Don't worry, I won't tell your mother you're robbing the cradle."
"Shut up." she said blushing. "You don't think he'll hurt me do you?"
"Do you think Andy would raise his son that way?" he asked raising an eyebrow.
"No, but I'm not going to pretend he's not dangerous, uncle Kevin."
"Trust me, I know exactly how dangerous Andy can be. I've seen it, but I also know he's only dangerous if he's provoked in some way. You have nothing to worry about. Aiden is a lot like his father and I know you're safer with him than with most human boys your age."

Notes

Looks like the start of a romance. Told you I had a good reason for making Aiden age so quickly ;). Anyway, tell me what you think. Also I've started working on another story. It's called Hunted so check it out. Don't worry I'll still be working on this and The missing pieces too.
