My Perfect Weapon

Chapter 4: Now You See Me.

Lacy sat in her last class of the day watching the clock. She was suppose to be working on a new design project, but she had gotten a message from Skylar on her cell. She had been highly upset. First her new outfit had been ruined by that bitch Amber. Then she couldn't find her journal.

Lacy frowned. It seemed she had been more upset over losing the journal than the outfit she had spent hours working on for her birthday. She couldn't understand why that damn journal was so important. I mean sure, she had been writing in it for years, but she could just buy a new one, right.

When Lacy had suggested that though, Skylar had become even more upset. "You don't understand." She had texted. "All the stuff I've written about Andy is in there. All our memories together."

She was worried about Skylar. She acted as if Andy were real, not some made boyfriend she had created at 13. She had read the journal before, with Skylar's permission of course. She had to admit that the sketches that she'd seen of Andy were sexy as hell, but he wasn't real.

She didn't think it was healthy for a 19 year old to have a fantasy life with a fantasy boyfriend. Sometimes she wondered if Skylar new that he wasn't real. She sometimes talked about the dreams she had about him as if it was something that had really happened.

She had never gone on a date since Lacy had known her. That worried Lacy too. That definitly wasn't healthy. As far as she knew Skylar had never even kissed a guy. At least in real life, she apparently kissed Andy all the time in her dreams.

Finally the time came for the class to end. Lacy packed up her supplies and put them away in her bag. She would work on her dress later at home, but first she would have to calm Skylar down. She knew that she'd had a bad day. They could go out and do something to get her mind off things.

She walked out of the building and began the short walk home to their small apartment. It was warm today and the sun would occasionally disappear behind a cloud. Lacy was thinking maybe she and Skylar could go to the pool that was offered for the use of the tenants of the apartment complex.

When she got to the front of the building and was about to head to the door that led to the lobby, she saw something impossible. Standing across the parking lot, leaning against a tree was someone who couldn't possibly be there. She had stopped and stood staring at the face of the guy she had seen many times, but only in the pages of Skylar's journal. He wasn't real. He didn't exist, but there he was looking right back at her. She saw him smirk at her before he turned and in a flash was gone. Moving too fast for her to even see where he had went.
