Cleaning up was a lot easier than Kevin thought it would be. It really helped to have a vampire as a partner in crime. Andy had ripped the body into pieces with his bare hands. They stuffed the pieces into garbage bags and Andy flew off with them into the night.

The plan was for Andy to dump the body while Kevin got rid of any physical evidence. This was easy for Kevin who knew what the forensics team would be looking for. As he was closing the front door, Andy came back. He landed soundlessly on the ground as Kevin was walking back to the car.
"What did you do with the bastard?" Kevin asked walking up to him.
"There's a pig farm 30 miles from here. Those things will eat anything."
"Well at least he'll be among family."
"What about Lauren? How are you going to explain her sudden reappearance?" Andy asked pulling out a cigarette and lighting it.
"We're going back to my house right now to talk to her."

Andy climbed in the car as Kevin got in the driver's side. The ride back was silent. Erica met them at the front door as they came onto the porch. Karen, Kevin's sister, ran onto the porch and tackled Kevin in a hug.
"You got her back, Kevin. Thank you!" She said with tears of happiness streaming down her face.
"You two are all I have. I wasn't going to set by and do nothing. Besides, I couldn't have done it without Andy."

The small woman turned to Andy and pulled him into a hug. Her head barely came to his waist. "Thank you! You'll never know how grateful I am." Andy looked down at her awkwardly and patted her on the head. Kevin laughed. He couldn't help it. Andy frowned at him.
"What's so funny?" He asked as Karen pulled away from him.
"A good question." She said giving her brother a weird look.
"Nothing." He said shaking his head as he walked into the house.

He had just watched Andy literally rip a man to pieces an hour ago, but, when Karen had hugged him, he looked as if he were afraid he might break her. It seemed the big bad vampire had a soft side.

Lauren was sitting on the couch when he walked in. She had showered and changed into her own clothes. She stood up when Andy and Karen came in. She slowly walked up to Andy and handed him his shirt and jacket. She looked down at the floor and then, after a moment, back up at him.
"You're a vampire, aren't you?" She asked quietly.
"She's been going on about this vampire thing since she got back. I think she might be a little confused about what really happened." Karen said as she gave Andy an apologetic look.
"She's not confused. I am a vampire." Andy said looking over at her and then back at Lauren.

Karen was looking at Andy as if he had two heads. She looked over at Kevin and gave him a look that said she was worried about Andy's sanity. This should be entertaining. His sister was one of the biggest skeptics he had ever known.

"Thank you for saving me. I-I'm sorry for being afraid of you earlier." Lauren said shyly.
"You're still not sure about me." Andy said looking down at her.
She looked startled for a moment. "How do you know that."
"I can hear your heartbeat."

Karen walked over to them. "Lauren, honey, why don't you go upstairs to bed. You need to get some rest. I'll be up in a little while." Lauren looked as if she didn't want to be alone, but she nodded and headed up the stairs.

When she was gone, Karen turned to Andy and frowned up at him. "You shouldn't encourage her with this nonsense."
"Sorry, little sister, but it's not nonsense. Andy really is a vampire." Kevin said looking rather amused. "How do you think we found her so quickly?"
She looked back at Kevin. "Really, you're a cop. You shouldn't believe in such fairytales."
"Just show her, Andy, before she has us all hauled off to the looney bin."

Karen looked back at Andy who was looking at Kevin with a frown on his face. He nodded at him. Andy shrugged and then looked back at her. He opened his mouth and let his fangs slide down. Karen looked startled for a moment before she shot backwards. She almost tripped over the coffee table, but Andy flashed forward and caught her before she could fall.
"Are you alright?" He asked her as he set her back on her feet.
"I-I-I'm fine. I-I-I just......" she trailed off

Kevin was laughing again. His sister was actually speechless. She looked over at him and frowned.
"I'm glad you find this so entertaining." She said as she walked over and smacked him on the arm.
This only made him laugh harder. "The look on your face was priceless."
Karen looked back over at Andy. "If you're hungry, you're welcome to eat him." she said.
"No, I'm good, thanks." He answered with an amused smirk.
"Sorry for my reaction. I was just startled."
"It's alright. I'm used to it."
"I really am grateful. I don't want you to think otherwise."
"Don't worry about it."
"Ok, enough fun. We have to come up with a story to explain why Lauren is back." Kevin said turning serious.
"I have an idea." Erica said speaking for the first time.

They all looked over at her. She had been so quiet, Kevin had almost forgotten she was there.
"What is it?"
"You can say she escaped. She never got a look at her attacker because wore a mask. She came here to her uncle's house because he's a cop." She said.
"What is she supposed to say when they ask her where she was?"
It was Andy who answered. "There's an abandoned house in the woods not far from here. Maybe 20 miles or so. We can make it look like she was being held there."

It could work. They would still have some work to do to make it look as if Lauren had been there, but it wouldn't be too difficult. They could pull this off.
