My Perfect Weapon

Skylar couldn't be happier. Last night Lacy had come home and, although she had been cautious at first, everything seemed to be getting back to normal. She was glad that she still had her best friend. She was a vampire now, but she was still Lacy.

As she drove to school, she thought about what Andy had told her. He was afraid to leave her alone with Lacy until he could train her to control her thirst. Lacy had agreed with him. "I don't want to accidentally hurt you or worse." She had said. Skylar could understand that so she hadn't argued.

When she got to school, she went straight to her locker. It was there she ran into trouble. Megan, one of Amber's best friends came up to her. "Why are you here? Shouldn't you be in jail?" She said as she pushed her into the lockers.
"You really shouldn't do that." Skylar said. She'd had enough of this.
"Why? Are you gonna kill me too? I have a black belt in karate, so good luck." she sneered. "I would watch your back if I were you."Skylar didn't like the way she said that. Megan must be planning something. With one final shove she walked away.

Most of the day went this way. People going out of their way to push her or trip her. Even the teachers seemed to be joining in. They would turn the other way as if they didn't see anything. Her English teacher gave her detention for sneezing and interupting her class.

When she was finally able to leave school, she discovered her tires had been slashed and someone had keyed her car. She had to walk home. This had been one of the worse days ever.

As she was walking, she heard a noise behind her. When she turned, she saw Megan and Erica, Amber's other best friend, coming toward her. She had a terrible feeling in the pit of her stomach. She began to run. She didn't get far. Alex, who was one of Trevor's friends, stepped out of an ally and blocked her path.

Before she knew it, they were three beating the hell out of her. Kicking and punching everything they could reach. She curled into a ball and tried to protect her head as best she could. Her ribs hurt and she could taste blood. Just as she was about to lose conciousness, they drug her into an ally and left her there. Her last thought before she was swallowed by blackness was of Andy.
