My Perfect Weapon

Skylar set in the small room waiting for the detectives to come back. She was tired and wanted to go home. She had been setting there for hours. She stood up and walked around the small room trying to stretch her legs.

The door opened and Detective Jenkins came in alone. "Ms. West I'm afraid I have some bad news. Maybe you should set down." He said gently.
"What is it?" Skylar asked as she set down.
"Ms. west, the body of Lacy Johnson was just dropped outside the police station. This note was attatched to the body." He said as he held the note up.

Skylar couldn't focus on the words. She was in shock. This couldn't be happening. Andy wouldn't hurt Lacy.

"There must be some mistake." She said her voice barely above a whisper.
"I'm sorry, Ms. West, but there's not. She still had her I.D on her." he said.

Tears streamed down her face. Lacy couldn't be gone. It wasn't possible.

"You're free to go Ms. West. I'll have someone take you home." He said as he left the room.

The ride home seemed a blur. She didn't remember walking into the apartment. It was quiet and it reminded her that Lacy was gone. She threw herself onto the couch and sobbed. Her best friend was gone. It couldn't be true.

"Skylar." Andy's voice came from behind the couch. She looked up at him. He had a look of pain on his face. "Andy, tell me it isn't true." She begged through her tears.

He didn't answer. instead he handed her a piece of paper. "She left this for you." He said as he set down next to her.

She took the note from Andy and began to read.

If you're reading this, then my plan worked and you're free. Don't blame Andy. He didn't want to do it this way, but I made him. I know you must be feeling sad right now, but don't grieve for me. This was my choice and I would do it again in a heartbeat. You have always been more like a sister to me. I want you to know I love you. You have always been there for me when I needed someone. This is just my way of returning the favor. Promise me you want let Andy go because of this. He loves you, Skylar, more than you know. He will protect you and keep you safe. There's more to this plan than you know and if it works you'll see me sooner than you think.

"What does she mean, Andy" She asked looking up at him.
"It might not work, Skylar. I don't want you to get your hopes up." He said pulling her close.
"Tell me anyway." She said laying her head on his shoulder.
He sighed. " I'm a vampire, Skylar. Before I did anything else, I gave Lacy some of my blood. There maybe a chance that she can come back, but as a vampire."
"When will we know?" She asked.
"I'll know if it happens, since I'm the one who will have made her.

Hope bloomed in her heart. Maybe Lacy wasn't gone after all. There was still a chance and she would hold on to that with all her being.
