Worlds Collide

We all hopped out of the pool and Ashley wrapped a towel around my shoulders "thanks." I said quietly, he wrapped a towel around his own waist and grabbed his beer. I followed closely behind him as we all walked inside and sat in a circle on Andy's living room floor. Andy turned on some music and sat down. "Sooooooo... how was everyones day." CC asked the group, "I did literally nothing... all day." Andy said
"I slept all day" Jake added
"What did you do all day without me JJ." Jinxx asked, well shit should I say anything, "Well since you were a no show I went over to keep her company." Ashley said answering for me "Excuse me?" Jinxx said as if Ashley had just told him he crashed his car "Don't do this Jay." I said just loud enough for him to hear "What do you mean 'don't do this'."
"You're such a helicopter mum, chill out." I said
"Don't tell me to chill out!" he said in a stern voice
"Hey!" Ashley butted in "cool it you two, JJ and I hung out, nothing more nothing less, okay?" All the guys look really awkward now and they all started to make excuses to go to other parts of the house, Jake went outside and got all my clothes, its almost as if he knows I'll be leaving soon. "He took you home last night as well, didn't he." Jinxx said, obviously he was in a bad mood and was trying to find an excuse to start a fight, " yeah, whats your point." I said
"My point is I don't want you to date him." Jinxx said pointing at Ash "I'm 27 years old Jay I can date whoever I want."
"Not as long as I'm around, because when he breaks your heart I wont be the one picking up the pieces."
"Jinxx she's an adult now and you need to accept that, JJ isn't a baby anymore and she can take care of herself." Ashley said, god I wish he had've walked away with the others "She's my baby sister and you won't lay a finger on her."
"Jinxx stop acting like Ash is a big bad monster, he just another guy and if JJ wants to date him then so be it." Jake said walking into the room "Stay out of this Pitts."
"WE ARENT EVEN DATING JEREMY, NOTHING IS GOING ON BETWEEN US AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHO I WANT TO DATE! IM 27 FOR GODS SAKE I'LL FUCK WHOEVER I WANT!" I screamed at Jay this isn't about Ashley anymore, he's always hovering over me and I feel like I'm in prison. "Preach." CC said also walking into the room with a beer in his hand. "You don't understand." Jay said defeated "I think I understand well enough."
"NO! you don't understand Jordyn, you don't know what its like to be an older brother, its my job to protect you Mum and Dad aren't here to protect you anymore. This isn't about Ashley this is about me wanting you to be happy!"
"I have to go."
"JJ," Jay said, I grabbed my clothes, shed the towel on my shoulders and quickly headed for the door, "you can't run away from everything." Jay called
"watch me." I called back

I walked down the street and put my clothes and shoes back on in the process, I really don't want Jay to come after me. I walked slowly along the foot path admiring the moon. I eventually found a park bench and sat down so I could cool off, I just sat and watched the moon get higher and higher into the sky. "JJ!" I heard a familiar voice call
"Ashley?" I answered,
"There you are, are you okay?" He said sitting down next to me, "Yeah, I'm fine."
"Are you sure, Jinxx was kinda brutal" he asked wrapping an arm around me "Yeah, he's just in a bad mood."
"Thats not him in a bad mood thats just him being a dick, what he said was awful."
"He's said worse, it's fine, really Ash don't stress, that's just what siblings do." I said looking over at him
"JJ he literally said he wouldn't be there for you if you needed him, that's rough."
"Jake is always there for me he's all I really need, Jinxx just isn't like that."
"He's you brother he should always be there for you, no matter what." he said
"It's okay ashley, really." I re- assured him "If you say so, just know I'm here for you if you ever need to talk."
"Really?"
"Really." I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes "Can we play a little game?"
"Sure." He said
"Okay so I'm going to tell you something personal and then you tell me something."
"Okay, you go first." He said
"Um well I'm really self conscious... okay now tell me something about you." I said looking at him
"Um... Im - scared to fall in love." he said hesitantly, I took his hand and lead him over to a soft patch of grass he sat down first and spread his legs out in front of him, I sat down between his legs and put my feet beside his hips and rested my hands on his knees. "Tell me what your self conscious about." He said "I don't like my thighs."
"why not?"
"Because of this really ugly deposit of fat right here." I said pointing to the upper part of my inner thigh "I have the same thing." he said rolling up his shorts "Yeah but yours isn't as gross as mine."
"Excuse me, did you just call my thighs gross?" he said fake offended "Not as gross as mine!"
"Your legs are so nice, I like them." he said sweetly smiling at me, "umm... wow this is really embarrassing."
"Don't be embarrassed, tell me what else you don't like." "Okay I don't like my muffin top that will never go away no matter how many crunches I do."
"Awww but I think you have a cute tummy." he said tickling my stomach "Stop!" I said laughing, I'm very ticklish, I swatted his hands away and held them so that he couldn't tickle me. "Okay tell me one more thing"
"Umm... do I have to say?"
"yep, nothing too weird for me hunty." I let go of his hands and put mine on either side of my face "ughhhh, I don't want to." I whined "Come on, the suspense is killing me." he said laughing as I dropped my hands "mmm... I- I don't like.. my boobs." I said quickly and hid my face in my hands "Ugh." He moaned and laid down on the grass and pulled me on top of him "I'm gonna cry this is so awkward now." I said burying my face into his chest. "Look at me." I put my knees either side of his hips and looked down at him "Your boobs are FINE." "What boobs, I don't have any." I laughed, he let out a breathy laugh too. "JJ, Ive seen plenty of boobs in my time and from what Ive seen yours are fine, trust me guys don't care what your boobs look like, their boobs, thats good enough."
"so tell me, Ashley, why are you so scared to fall in love." I said changing the subject, he sat up again so I was now sitting on his lap, I think this is just his attempt to make me get closer to him, I'm okay with it though. "Well," he started "I've never really been good with girlfriends, I have like no standards so I always accept whatever I can get and I'm scared that one day I'll fall in love with a girl and she'll just be looking for a re-bound."
"Falling in love is amazing."
"Tell what it's like."
"It's like the earth is only spinning because they are on it and you suddenly care about this other person more than you care about yourself, you'd take a bullet for them, do anything to make them happy, even if that means breaking up with them, and yeah it hurts but there are more fish in the sea."
"But if they are the one you can't let them go, right? you have to fight for their love"
"If they don't love you then they aren't the one."
"mmm." He said "Can I kiss you?"
"woah, what." I said shocked "It doesn't have to mean anything, I just need to know what it's like to kiss you." I put my hands on his cheeks and looked into his eyes. "What about a lengthy embrace?"
"I know this sounds really dumb and maybe I had too many beers, but I want to know what it's like to kiss someone I love." "Wait, you love me?"
"I'm not in love with you, I just love you like I love garlic bread, know what I mean?"
"fine, only cause I pity you," I laughed "Not a word to anyone, okay?"
"Okay." He put his arms around my waist and rested his forehead on mine. "God I can't believe I'm doing this." I said closing my eyes "you're right this is weird we shouldn't." He said kinda defeated "no no it's fine let's just do it." I am not passing up this opportunity. He closed his eyes as I lightly brushed my lips against his, he took advantage of this and pressed his lips against mine. My heart is racing 100 miles an hour, he slowly started to move his lips against mine, and I kissed him back. I ran my fingers through his partially wet hair, he quietly moaned into the kiss, fuck he's a really good kisser, I pulled away for air. I lightly bit his lip and pulled back then released his lip from between my teeth and quickly went back to kissing him. There was everything they promise in the movies, fireworks and butterflies in my stomach, he ran his tongue along my bottom lip and I quickly pulled away. "Alright that's enough excitement for tonight." I said out of breath "Okay," he said tucking a lock of my hair behind my ear. "You want me to walk you home?"
"I don't want to go home." I whined placing my hands on his shoulders. "You wanna come back to mine? avoid the wrath of Jinxx."
"I dunno if that's a good idea Ash."
"Don't worry I'll sleep on the couch." he said in a condescending tone "Okay, sounds like fun."
" Okay, I'll order an Uber."
