A Savior Will Be There

Chapter 9

"Only one way to find out."

Korey dialed Andy's number and pressed the call button.

"Hello?" Andy sounded like he just woke up.
Well it was a bit late. Already dark outside.

"Hey, Andy. I need your help with something."
Korey slurred.

"Korey? Are you drunk? Dude, its late." Andy yawned.

"Pshh naw... I'm not drunk in the slightest. I need your opinion on something."

"What is it?"

"Should I drink, drug, cut, or jump?" Korey asked bluntly.

"What are you talking about, Korey?" Andy asked confused and still only half awake.

Korey just laughed on the other side of the phone.
"I'm gonna commit suicide, Silly!" She said as if it were obvious.

***

"I'm gonna commit suicide, Silly!"

When Andy heard those words, he forgot all about sleeping and jumped to his feet.

"Korey, where are you?!" He practically yelled through the phone.

"Umm, I'm at the drop off, bridge, thingey. I'm thinking about jumping. Then everything will be solved." He heard her say.

"Korey, don't move a muscle all right. I'm on my way." He said in a panicked tone.

"Okie dokie, Batman." She said, just laughing away.

Andy threw on a random shirt, grabbed the keys from the kitchen and ran to his car, driving to
Korey.

Once he got there, he saw Korey sitting with some stuff in front of her.

***

Korey sat for a while waiting. The bottle was 2/3 gone when the saw Andy.

"Hi there! I didn't know Batman liked KISS." Korey slurred taking notice on the shirt Andy had grabbed.

Andy ran out of his car to Korey and embraced her with a hug.

"Korey! What the ***k were you thinking?! You could've died!" Andy shouted ignoring the smell of whiskey on Korey.

"Andy, we descussed what I was thinking over the phone remember? Now what should I do?"
Korey watched as Andy looked down at the stuff she brought from home. He picked up the bottle and looked at Korey in the eyes.

"Well are you gonna tell me what you think or just stare at me this whole time?" She asked again.

"Why are you so happy about this? It isn't a laughing matter, Korey! Do you know how worried I was? What would make you even think about suicide?" Andy screamed with tears in the corners of his eyes.

Then Korey's smile faded as she looked down and hugged her knees. Tears were now streaming down her face again.

"Be-because I hate myself, Andy. I'm weak, useless, and I am the reason my mom died two years ago today." Korey took a breath then continued.

"I-I wasn't actually thrilled about this as i seemed. I just... I just wanted to laugh everything off as if it didn't matter. My life didn't matter." She hugged her knees tighter.

"I thought that if I ended it all then... then all my problems would be solved. Last year, I was so close to death that I could almost feel it." Korey said while sobbing and Andy hugged her again.

"Andy, I feel so worthless and unwanted, and everything is my fault. I hate being me, Andy." She cried holding on to Andy as tight she could. He was crying now too.

"Korey, you are worth more than people tell you. To me, the guys, Sammi, Hope, even Miss Hill. You're not useless and weak. Nothing was your fault. It was an accident that your mom died. You have no reason to hate yourself. Korey, if you died, your problems wouldn't be solved. Not only that, but you'd risk the chance of life being better than it is now. Korey, you are loved by so many people." Andy said gripping Korey in his arms.

"You need to promise me that you'll never try this again."

"Okay, Andy. I promise."

///

They stayed for a little bit before Andy noticed the dried blood on Korey's forehead. He didn't ask anything though because Korey had already been through too much today.

"Andy, move. I'm about to puke." Korey said quickley.

Not even five seconds after Andy moved, Korey vomited on the pavement.

After Korey was through, she wiped her mouth and Andy dragged her up by the shoulder.

"Come on. Lets get you home." Andy said in her ear.

///***

Andy opened the door for Korey and drove her to her home.

When Andy drove closer to Korey's house, he saw Jason drunk carrying two vodka bottles.

There is no way I am dropping you off here.
Andy said to himself.

He figured Jason was obviously not home when Korey did all of her drinking.

With that being said, Andy decided to bring Korey to his home. He dialled his mom's phone and explained what happened, just the being dunk part. Not the entire story. Amy said it was fine with her. Then they hung up.

After a while, they finally reached Andy's home.

Korey was asleep so Andy carried her into the house bridal style and headed toward his room.
He had laid her on the bed and covered her in the sheets.
Andy was about to leave to sleep in the living room when he heard a sound from Korey's mouth.

"Andy?"

"Hmm."

"Thanks for caring for me. I love you." Korey said. Andy knew she meant in a best friend sort of way.

He bent over her and kissed the side of her head. "I love you too."

///***

Korey woke up with the worst headache she's ever had. When she sat up and looked around the room and recognized that it wasn't her own home.

"Where am I?"

Korey closed her eyes and tried to remember what happened the night before.
She was walking out of the bedroom door and walked downstairs and saw Andy.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Andy asked.

"To be honest, I feel like a sickly blob of junk." Korey grunted.

"So this is your house huh?"

"Yup."

"What happened last night?" Korey asked looking at Andy.

"You got drunk when your uncle wasn't home. You ended up calling me." He shrugged as Korey sat by Andy.

She looked at him suspiciously.

"That isn't all that happened, is it."

Korey remembered what yesterday was.

"I tried to do something didn't I?" Korey sighed looking down.

She felt Andy wrap her in a hug. Korey looked at a clock and saw that she slept so late, there was no point in trying to get to school.

"I tried last year too." Korey said. Andy's grip got tighter.

"Why, Korey?"Andy asked.

Korey took a deep breath and told Andy the story of the crash. She explained everything. She told him how she felt guilty all this time.

"I'm in pain every time I think about the crash."

"Korey, it wasn't your fault. You know that." Andy said.

Korey began to cry into Andy's chest feeling safe in his arms. Light sobs escaped her mouth. Andy was gently rubbing her back.

After a while, Korey's tears were gone, her breathing became even again, and her eyes were closed - but she isn't asleep.

"Andy, I am so glad I called you."

"Me too, Korey. Me too."

"Thanks for saving me." Korey looked into Andy's eyes.

"Anytime." Andy said.

Andy lowered his head towards hers, so their foreheads were touching. They were both smiling
widely.

"Do you feel like watching some Batman?" Korey asked lifting a brow.

"But of course, M'lady." He chuckled.

The two of them ended up watching Batman for the rest of the day, until Korey had to go home that is, of course.
