Suffocate Me

4

I took a breath of relief and smiled.

He agreed.

Poor Andy had the short end of the stick in this situation, but I wasn’t about to put up with a human rival. At the same time I felt terrible. I was breaking up a relationship and Juliet had been so nice. Surely she would blame me. Not to mention Andy didn’t know exactly who I was.

“Thank you.” I muttered, my smile fading.

“No, just… yeah….” Andy tried to talk, but I could tell he was thinking too hard.

I heard talking outside the bus and heard my name being tossed around. The voices were male and getting closer so I could only guess that they belonged to the rest of the band. Black veil brides must have finished their performance.

“Hey, um, Andy?” I asked.

The man looked up at me, his blue eyes alive with affection and need. His hopes were up, even if the stakes were high.

“You don’t have anything against… lone wolves? ...Do you?” I felt a bubble rising in my throat.

Most werewolves kept to communities and groups of their own, especially since werewolves were becoming targets of rumor more than legend these days. These modern-day packs often lived within blocks of each other and held isolated meetings were werewolves could be werewolves. Each pack had an alpha, one that made sure the pack was safely located and that no one was exposed. The alpha protected and named the pack.

Those who weren’t in groups were scorned for a long time for no specified reason. Then suddenly a big-money Alpha announced that lone wolves were traitors to tradition and self-righteous beasts that can’t trust their instincts. After that, lone wolves were so badly hated that many created packs of their own. Those that didn’t were alienated and soon just became a part of human society with occasional ‘vacations’ out in the woods.

Things calmed down a few years later and 2015 all about equality so the rage leveled out. Still, there exists a biased against lone wolves. Against me.

“Lone… wolf...?” Andy trailed off, his eyes dimming a little.

Oh no, I thought, not this please, I don’t want to be yelled at.

I felt my throat swell and I looked away from Andy’s dying excitement. I couldn’t bare it. It was then that I realized how much I wanted a mate, I wanted to not be alone. To have that sweet scent around would have been nice.

“It’s alright, no one wants a loner around, to much gloom.” I said, laughing to brush him off.

I looked up to see Andy slowing inching towards me. His hands eased onto the couch on either side of me so he had me pinned. The blue in his eyes was storming and his pupils were thinning to slits. His mouth hung upon just a little, revealing two canines slowly growing longer and sharper. His nose pressed against mine and could feel his breath across my face.

Suddenly, his expression changed to one of affection and love.

“I see no gloom, I see only you and I will have you as long as you will have me.” Andy whispered, his voice low.

I heard a shuffle. Then a “ahem.”

I squeaked, realizing that I had just been within kissing distance of one of my clients in front of my clients. This wasn’t a normal thing with humans, feelings couldn’t communicate that well.

“Um…” I started, beginning to juggle my camera in my hands.

What happened next I would remember for the rest of my life.

“Andy, thought werewolves were strictly one person types?” the shortest guy asked, not a hint of negativity in his voice.

The four men standing by the driver’s seat were dressed scantily and I’m surprised I hadn’t smelt them coming in. They reeked of sweat. Other than that, they all had bright, colorful tattoos covering their bodies. Two of them was shirtless, and the other two were wearing band tank tops.

“We are,” Andy growled, having not moved more than two inches from my face.

“Hey everybody’s here! Olivia, got your stuff from your truck. Hope I’m not being cree- Andy?”

As Andy looked up to make eye contact with Juliet her face began to twist. The four guys back up and one slipped outside. All I could think of is how much I just wanted to disappear.

(a) Super-congratulations on your history exam!

(b) Oh shit! Andy has like, what, 8 or so hours once he wakes up to 'claim' Olivia, and, and Juliet might have just fried his brain, because Olivia was being a reluctant little prude? Well, at least now she has the choice to abandon him to a mental hospital, or get mated to a nut job! Hahaha, the irony! Nice, Olivia! How do you feel about having waited now?
