Cursed by love

It has passed three years since car crash. Her parents moved to the USA and every day they bring her three white roses. Her mother takes white porcelain vase and changes water to flowers don´t wilt. Then she lies next to her in bed and sings a song that Laurie has written for her. That forces her to cry. After an hour spent with Laurie, she comes out to talk with Katie. Katie comes with one black rose here every day and reads her fairytales with the hope she will wake up. Juliet is here, too. She talks with her a lot hoping she listens to her. Only a Jake of boys visits her sometimes. And I´m sitting next to her like for the first time. I add a red rose to the vase and for few minutes, I stare on a bouquet of her favorite colors, we´ve created together. Maybe It has been three years yet, but she looks the same. Same long dark brown hair, maybe a little bit longer. Same pale skin. But I miss her light blue eyes that smile. I miss her laugh. I remember the first time when I saw her lying in this bed.

*flashback – second week that Laurie is in coma*
“Sorry Mr. Biersack, but Laurie isn´t here anymore!” Tragic sceneries are racing through my mind. I think on the possibility of her death.
“What do you mean? Anything happened?” worries attacked me, and I´m defenseless. They´re trying to roll over me. I have to stay strong for her! I´m repeating to myself.
“We moved her to room 189.” I breathed out and went to the chamber. I quickly walked in. But it wasn´t good idea. I saw her in a hospital bed connected to some equipment. She looked like she was dead. But she was still breathing. I could see how her chest was rising; her lungs were filled with oxygen and then it went down. I sat on the armchair and looked at her a while. I didn´t want to believe in reality. This healthy girl was fragile. In the hospital bed, she seems small. I took her hand and whispered Please, wake up!
*end of flashback*

And after all the years is it the same. She is still sleeping. Her heart is healthy and still beating. She breathes weaker every day. But she is alive. I sang her some of my songs. Once before this she told me that when she has nightmares, she turns on Saviour, and she´s able to fall asleep. I asked her why and she replied that it causes my voice that when she hears it, she doesn´t feel alone. Suddenly I heard a shout. I stood up and walked out the room. I saw Juliet crying and Katie with Alex fighting with doctor and nurse. I ran to Juliet and hugged her. It was all I was able to do that moment. “What´s going on, baby?”
“They wanna disconnect Laurie from equipment. They told that was in vain keeping her like that. They hear that we are torturing her. Please do something!”

Doctor took me to his office. “We can´t keep her like that anymore.” He told me. I froze. He wants to let die breathing person. He wants to kill Laurie! No one supposes to adjudicate someone´s chance to live. It´s very weighty decision that could put to death, someone.
“Hear me carefully! I know she will wake up. I feel it. Keep her alive two weeks yet till she turns 18. I am begging you.” He refused.
"Her parents already signed authorization. You aren´t her relative, so you can´t submit cancellation. I´m sorry." I pulled out five hundred dollars from my wallet. He looked on them. I saw sparkles in his eyes and smirk on lips. He quickly grabbed them and miscounted them. “I try to do what I´ll be able to do for you. However, I don´t promise anything.” I left. I know what I´ve done was wrong, but I can´t imagine I´ll lose her. If I would, I will do more without regrets.
