Black Sun

Eight

Following Leo round the streets wasn't much fun. Even with my impromptu disguise, I was kind of hoping someone would recognise me. I traipsed behind CC, his hand was clutching mine. I was glad it was him and not Ashley.

Truth be told, I was a little sore about the comments he made regarding my lack of a family and that he didn't like me. I had told him about my Mum and he seemed to care at the time. Now it just felt like he used that information to make me feel bad.

We walked for ages until Leo paused outside a block of flats. He keyed in some numbers on the intercom and led us inside. By this point, the police would have given up their hunt. I guessed dealer-guy had gone straight to the police once he regained consciousness.

Leo led us up several flights of stairs and stopped at a door, fumbling to find keys in his pocket. The hallway was cramped and my gaze went to Ashley. As though sensing my eyes on him, he glanced at me, expression indifferent. I glared at him. He quirked a brow at my annoyed expression.

The door opened and Leo strolled inside, turning to face us. This flatw as different to the last one. The last one looked disgusting and smelt worse; this one was amazing. The walls were painted cream and the furniture was very clean.

"Wow, this is amazing." I blurted out.

"Ain't it, though," Leo grinned. "Should be, this is one of my many properties."

"And you're going to let us live here?" I asked, feeling panicked.

Leo obviously had no idea who Ashley and CC were. If he did then he may be less willing to allow them to live in a flat he'd furnished.

"Sure, I help all my clients out." Leo replied. "So, what do you guys think?"

"This place rocks." CC smiled, draping an arm round my shoulder.

"It will suit our needs." Ashley said, sitting on the couch.

Leo rolled his eyes, clearly used to Ashley.

"Shall I give you the grand tour?" Leo offered.

He guided us round the flat. Through an archway was the kitchen. It was spotless. We left the kitchen and walked down a narrow hallway and he showed us the bathroom. The flat only had two bedrooms so I guessed I'd be on the couch again.

"So, where do you sleep, little lady?" Leo grinned.

CC had nipped out to get us some food. Ashley was in one of the bedrooms. That left Leo and I sitting on the couch. My face heated up and I toyed with my hair.

"I sleep on the couch." I whispered.

"Right, I wasn't born yesterday. I've been a teenager." He chuckled, shaking his head.

"I've slept in Ashley's bed these past two nights." I replied, and he nodded.

"And you like him, right?"

"He's very handsome, it's just he's um-"

"Psychologically damaged." Leo finished for me.

My head whipped up at that statement. Maybe I'd been wrong about how much Leo knew of his two clients. He knew enough to know Ashley wasn't, well, sane would be the wrong word.

"Yeah, that," I murmured. "What caused it?"

"Bad childhood, shitty life choices and the fact that he's sociopathic may be a contrbuting factor," Leo smirked then. "But, young love and all that jazz."

We carried on talking and I found it such a relief talking to Leo. He was funny and despite being a little shady, he seemed like a really caring guy.

"You do like him, right? I'm not wrong, am I?" He grinned.

"I think he's handsome, but that comment about me having no family really stung. I know I have no one, but I don't want to be reminded of that. It really hurts." I said, sniffling a little.

Leo nodded, sagely. His gaze shot up and trailed over my shoulder. My eyes widened when I realised what he'd done when Ashley walked by us. The look he shot me was terrifying.

"Leo, thanks for all your help finding this place," Ashley said, shaking Leo's hand. Leo nodded, standing. Ashley's gaze went to me again. "Plus, I need to have word with Rini."

Leo sighed, glancing between us. My head was still bowed. I felt like a really naughty child, but why should I feel bad when he was so rude about my lack of family.

"Of course. Goodbye Rini," Leo patted my shoulder. He turned to Ashley again. "Be a little kinder to her, will you."

With that said, he left. I felt the couch shift when Ashley sat down. Well, this was humiliating. I couldn't believe Leo had pulled a stunt like that.

"Rini, I apologise for the comment I made regarding your family." He said. My head shot up and I nearly head-butted him.

"You're sorry? I told you about my Mum because, well, I don't know." I snapped.

He met my gaze and I felt like he was staring straight into my soul and out the other side. I had to look away eventually.

"I have no family either." He replied.

"Yeah, but I'm not horrible to you about that."

"It is what it is. Being cruel isn't going to change the fact that my family are dead." He shrugged.

I had never met anyone like Ashley. He had such a strange outlook on life. It was the total opposite of my own outlook. I was positive and always saw the good in everyone. He seemed like a realist, although that wasn't quite as accurate since he disliked people.

"You're so insufferable sometimes." I said, pouting. He chuckled then and smirked.

"Yes, I am. You're also insufferable though," He leaned in. "Although, I find your emotions quite fascinating and I like the way you become flustered when nervous."

I parted my lips to think up some kind of witty retort to that. Nope, I had nothing. My mind had gone blank. Somewhere in the dark corners of my mind, a tiny part of my brain was screaming that there was a terrorist opposite me, leaning ever closer, eyes predatory.

Those dark eyes met mine and looked almost black. His hand lifted and brushed a few strands of hair from my eyes. Then he kissed me, softly at first. It felt like my mind exploded in a plethora of colours and feelings.

Ashley deepened the kiss, moving his lips against mine. I copied him and then pulled back when I realised what I was doing. I was kissing a terrorist, a killer. He was staring into my eyes now.

"What was that?" I asked, stupidly.

"I kissed you." He shrugged, as though this was perfectly natural.

"Y-you had no right. You abducted me." I stammered.

"And you didn't stop me. You liked it." He shot back, eyes darkening.

He leaned in again, capturing my lips, cutting me off mid-rant. His lips moved against mine and he nipped my lower lip. I parted my lips and his tongue slid into my mouth, tracing each part and memorising. We pulled apart and he smirked.

"Your lips are so soft." He murmured.

"T-thanks." I whispered.

The door flew open and he moved away from me. CC looked between us in confusion, but seemed to decide that we were getting along.

"It's great to see you guys getting along." He grinned.

"Mmm hm." I agreed.

I wasn't going to explain to CC what just happened and I glanced at Ashley. He was back to ignoring me.

After dinner they both decided to set up the internet to prepare to film a new video tomorrow. Accessing the internet was done by hacking someone elses internet connection and then making the IP address invisible using onion servers.

I sat on the couch, watching the tv. My face was still on the news. There had been no sightings of me so the police were apparently looking for a body. I wasn't dead though.

Night time rolled around and I was still staring at the television. I really wanted to sleep, but CC was currently watching tv. I glanced over at Ashley. He was leaning on the countertop, fixing something, probably something explosive.

He paused and turned round, walking by us and his eyes locked with mine. His gaze flicked to the bedroom then back to me. I was probably stupid for getting up and followig him, but I did anyway. We walked into the bedroom and I stayed rooted to the spot, not wanting to discuss the kiss from earlier.

"You may share this room with me." He said, his tone was firm and brokered no arguments.

"O-ok, so are we going to talk about earlier?" I replied, and he looked at me.

He walked towards me, pausing in front of me. I had to look up to meet his steady gaze. He pressed his lips to my forehead and stayed there for a minute. I couldn't help but smile at his actions.

It felt strange to be sharing a bed with someone, let alone sharing a bed with Ashley. He confused me so much and my emotions felt like they were all jumbled up.

"Ashley? Can we talk about your family sometime?" I asked.

He shifted on the bed and met my gaze, unflinchingly. I really hoped he'd open up to me. It was odd that i was starting to sympathise with him, but I couldn't help but be intrigued by him.

"Yeah, we can at some point." He replied.

I felt my eyes closing and I succumbed to sleep.
