Novocaine Hearts

Lexa's POV

The Malibu house was just as beautiful as I remembered.
After another two weeks holed up in Miami, Nate finally let me leave for LA.
He was contemplating whether the rest of them would move down, but for now it was just me. Which I was happy about. Myself and Parker were on a better level. We had an understanding, so things could finally start going back to normal. Saxon even told me he was chatting to girls, which means he's finally getting over me. Thank God. I really didn't want this to destroy the band.
Jake met me at Ashley's Malibu house the day I drove down.
We loaded in all my gear and rearranged the house a little bit.
"Ashley wouldn't care if I moved his office around would he?" I mused to Jake as I stared at his wall that had brackets for guitars but only held two.
"Umm, I don't think he would. Why?" Jake called to me.
"Just thinking... I've got a few guitars with me. I don't wanna leave them lying around, I want them on the wall."
"Well, if anything I'll take whatever he's left and bring it to their house. No big deal" his voice sounding nonchalant.
"Hmm."
I looked around the office and it was easy to tell Ashley's work from Riley's. Ashley had perfect script handwriting. Everything was in order and labelled with sticky notes.
Riley however had bits of paper with scrawled pencil marks that could barely be words. It was all a jumble of lyrics and notes.
"What are you doing?" Jake appeared in the doorway, startling me.
"Ohh, just looking. Riley really seems to have trouble stringing a verse together" I said, looking at all the unfinished notes.
"She's not a natural song-writer" Jake shrugged. "She works a lot harder than any of us at lyrics."
"Yeah, but it's five people putting a song together. That's why it's easier."
"Hmm, not really. Andy literally will write a song in his sleep" Jake shook his head.
"So could I, but I'm not a vocalist."
"I thought we were gonna leave Riley alone?" Jake said, raising an eyebrow and pulling her papers out of my hands.
"But, but, I like snooping" I whined.
"Yeah, well, I've learnt not too. God... I still can't get that conversation out of my head" Jake sighed.
"She was determined to do it. You stopped her once, but you can't stop fate. Just be glad its made her realise that she needs help" I assured him.
Jake's face turned sad. He still felt guilty for some of the things he said to her.
"Hey, when are you guys leaving? Two more weeks is it?" I asked, trying to change the mood.
"Yeah... Why?"
"Lets have a party! We'll invite everyone! All your supporting acts, friends, anyone and everyone!" I exclaimed.
"Where?"
"Here silly!"
"Lex, this isn't your place, you'd have to clear it with Ashley."
"When did you become such a worry wort? I'm sure he'll be fine with it" I waved off, walking out of the office and back downstairs. I could hear Jake's footsteps following me down.
"Hmm, you haven't talked to him since the accident. He is so worried about Riley it isn't funny. I've never seen him so anxious in my life. I don't think he'll be down to party" Jake disapproved. "Besides, you don't drink" he added.
"Doesn't mean I don't like to be social" I shrugged.
I felt Jake grab hold of my wrist firmly and twist me around. "I don't think you get it. Riley is priority number one now. He thinks she is a possible suicide risk! We can't have him stressing over some stupid party! If you really wanna do something, we'll have it at CC's or Jinxx's. It can't be here" Jake shrugged.
"Alright, alright" I said, trying to soothe his mind.
Jake sighed as he walked out onto the deck that looked out at the beach.
I watched the way his back tensed up as he leaned on the baluster. Black Veil Brides were in a high stressed state at the moment.
He needs to relax.
I smiled widely as an idea popped into my head.
I ran back upstairs and grabbed two guitars. I slung one of them around myself and started playing Rebel Love Song.
I heard Jake laugh.
"What are you doing?" He cringed.
"Nothing... Just jamming. I might start singing and we both know I'm bad at that" I giggled.
"Really now?"
"Yes, now come on! Sing! 'I cannot hide what's on my mind, I feel it burning inside" I sung horribly.
Jake rolled his eyes.
"'A passion crime, to take what's mine, let us start living for today. Never gonna change my mind, we can leave it all behind, nothing's gonna stop us, no not this time! Take your hand in mine it's ours tonight! This is a rebel love song! Hearts will sacrifice, it's do or die! This is a rebel love song!'"
By now Jake had grabbed the second guitar and start to play and sing with me.

We spent the whole afternoon covering each others songs with our crappy singing voices.
Jake even helped me on some riffs I had been working on.
The time blew by so quickly, we didn't even realise it was nighttime.
I stopped to grab a drink of water, then I saw the time on microwave.
"Holy Shit! Jake! It's fucking nine forty-five! We have been doing this for hours!" I said in shock as I grabbed him a bottle of water.
"Fuck! Really?!" His head tilted as fell deep into thought. "Shit, we haven't had dinner or anything. Should we order something?"
"Yeah, my stomach is now registering that it's hungry" I said, feeling my tummy growl in hunger.
"Do you mind if I order some sushi? It's easy and light. Really shouldn't eat too much at this time of night" Jake said as his upper lip arched.
"Sure, but I want dumplings as well."
Jake chuckled "Sure babe."

Filler chapter. Some feedback would be awesome right now guys.
I really don't know where to take this story.
It's a real mix of Lexa and Riley right now and I really don't know how to end it.
Can someone please help me out?
