Novocaine Hearts

Lexa's POV

The following day I left the house before anyone was even awake.
It hadn't been a late one last night.
After dinner, Nate and Saxon talked, while myself and Parker stayed silent. I had nothing to say after he'd heard my lyrics that were obviously about him.
I decided to wonder the city and was in hopes of meeting up with Juliet and Riley. I messaged them when it was late enough for them to be awake.
As I was walking down the beach front, my phone buzzed and I thought it would be Juliet, but it was Parker.
-Can we talk?
The text read.
I sighed and stupidly thought to call him.
"What do you want?" I asked as soon as he answered the phone.
"Look, I'm just trying to figure it out as much as you are, but you have to talk to me. How are you?" He asked, full of concern.
"I'm... I'm okay. Other than you screwing me over" I said sarcastically.
"How am I screwing you over? I thought you loved me! I thought you'd want to get back together!"
"Well you thought wrong! How could you do that to me? You dumped me purely because we weren't acting the same. We decided together that we weren't gonna be that couple. We wanted to hide it and act normal for everyone else. Along the way you forgot about the feelings you had. So yeah, you screwed me over."
"What do you want me to do?" He asked, sounding defeated.
"You really had to ask that? Seriously. You've known me for how long and you still don't understand me. I'm fucking hurting! What you could have done was keep your feelings to yourself and let me move on! God sure knows I was trying" I ranted.
"You want to move on?" He spoke as if I'd stabbed him in the back.
"Well I had no choice because you said you didn't love me."
"What about now?" He continued.
"I don't know. I think we just have to find a place where we are both comfortable" I sighed. We were silent for a moment, then I heard him take a deep breath.
"We'll talk about this later. Bye" he said abruptly and hung up.
I shook my head as I pulled my phone away from my ear.
I glanced at the notifications bar and saw I had a message from Juliet.
They want to meet me at some cafe near their hotel.
I quickly messaged her back saying I was on my way.

Juliet and Riley sat across from me at the little patio area on the sidewalk.
The last time I saw Juliet, I had just cheated on Jake and she had given the biggest look of disgust. Now, she was all smiles and nostalgia.
Juliet happily flashed her engagement ring and talked about how amazing her wedding was.
Riley seemed to roll her eyes every time Juliet made a comparison to her wedding or anyone's in their circle.
"Oh! And how great was the food at the reception! It really pays when you hire proper caterers" she tusked to Riley.
Riley dropped her fork to her plate and glared at Juliet. "We did have proper caterers. We were in a function center. That's what they do!" She said through her teeth.
Juliet shrugged and turned to me. "So, how's things? How are you liking Miami?" She asked.
"Oh, umm, I've only been here two days so I don't really know. I've honestly just been trying to deal with Parker" I gritting my teeth at the thought.
"Why? What's happened?" Riley said, finally tuning into the conversation.
"He told me that he still loves me and that we shouldn't have broken up. He misses me" I said, unsure of my own words.
"Oh sweetie, you gotta let him go. He broke your heart. Do want to give him another chance to hurt you?" Juliet taunted.
"Oh what do you know" Riley shot, nudging Juliet's shoulder. "You need to think it through. He's your band mate, so it's a little more tricky. Obviously don't get back with him because it's the easy and quick option. Cause in the long run it might not work out. If you don't get back together with him, the healing process starts and your band will get flooded with heartbroken lyrics, which is kinda great inspiration" Riley shrugged and continued "but you have to learn how to work together. That would be the hardest part."
"You would know" Juliet said, emphasizing the would.
"And what's that meant to mean?" Riley snapped.
"Oh you, Andy and Ashley. The whole learning how to be friends bullshit" Juliet said leaning back in her chair.
"Well maybe me and Andy would still be together if you hadn't come along" Riley said sweetly, tilting her head.
"Low blow" Juliet muttered.
"Yeah, fuck you too."
"Is everything okay? You guys don't normally fight like this" I commented.
Juliet scoffed "You're telling me. After you and Jake broke up, things were never really the same between us. They were never great, but they've just hit a low. Ever since this one learned that I'd given you drugs she dropped off the radar" Juliet said, pointing and rolling her eyes at Riley.
I looked over at Riley in confusion. "Did you really end your friendship over that?" I said sarcastically.
"Lex, you got to understand that me and Juliet are different people. I've been around the drug world my whole life. I don't wanna know about it. I've got so much going on anyways; they're lucky if I'm in LA for a month" Riley shrugged.
"Oh... But what about Ashley? Do you even see him?" I asked. Juliet even turned towards Riley to wait for her response.
"Yeah Riles... Ashley has been over our house a lot lately. What's happened? Did you stop putting out?" Juliet taunted when Riley was silent.
Riley glared at us. "No, I didn't stop putting out! Just... I don't know... Our schedules don't line up. We're both busy people."
"Sure, so busy. Just remember Riley, Ashley will have a line up of girls when you're gone" Juliet smirked.
Riley looked like she was going to burst into flames, but composed herself instead. "Hmm, that might be true, but who knows, Andy might leave you if he finds someone he likes more" she retorted.
"Guys! Stop this stupid feud! Just get over it. I'm not in the drug scene anymore, so breaking up with Jake was almost a good thing. So stop!" I yelled.
They both shrunk in their places and glanced between each other and me.
"So how is Jake?" I continued.
"He's okay. Him and Inna broke up so he's single again" Riley said, leaning forward and placing her elbows on the table.
"Hmm, maybe I should say hey" I joked.
"Yeah! You should. He'd love to see you again!" Juliet said excitedly.
I chuckled. "No... I shouldn't..."
"No, you should. You might cheer him up. Please?" Juliet pressed.
