Lexa's POV

I thought about it all night. Whether I should see Jake.
The thought never really occurred to me. The last time we spoke I was asking him for a place to stay cause me and Parker were breaking up. Before that he wanted to get back together because he saw I had changed.
Juliet had offered for myself, Saxon, Nate and Parker to come out sailing. Ashley had hired out a yacht for the time they were in Miami and they thought it would be a great time to catch up.
Once everyone was out of bed the next morning I asked them.
"Hey guys... Umm, yesterday I got a chance to catch up with Juliet and Riley... You know, people related to Black Veil Brides" I said nervously.
They all kind of stopped and stared.
"Yeah... What about them?" Nate queried.
"Well they are all here in Miami and Juliet invited all of us to go sailing with them today... We don't have to go if you guys don't want to..." I trailed.
"Has this got to do with Jake?" Parker said bluntly.
"What?" I said stupidly.
"Do you want to start seeing him again?" Parker continued.
"No. I just thought it would be nice for us all to catch up" I said, getting defensive.
"Hmm, just remember he called you a lying whore once upon a time. Don't forget that" Parker snarled, his lip curling in fury from the memory.
I smiled smugly "Yeah, but I'm sure you've called me worse."
"I'm trying to fix this! Why are you driving this wedge deeper?! It's like you don't want us to get back together!" Parker raged.
I swiftly glanced at my other band members. They definitely didn't want to get caught in the crossfire of this.
"Cause I don't! God Parker! Just give it a rest! It's over! We're over! You threw it away! For nothing! I can't trust you anymore, you broke my heart! We never should have gone out. As you said, we're better as friends" I shrugged, tears streaming down my face. My hands were shaking. The room seemed to echo with my voice bouncing off the walls.
"I think it's better if you don't come today" I said quietly then raced upstairs.

An hour later myself, Saxon and Nate walked down to the docks where the others were waiting for us.
Upon arrival it was all smiles and hugs for Saxon and Nate. I wasn't sure how they would all respond to me, but they treated me the same.
"Where you been guys? It's been so long!" Andy commented.
"I know man, been super busy. Gonna start working on album number three soon" Nate said excitedly. "What about you guys? What you been doing?" Nate continued.
While everyone was getting re-antiquated, I noticed Jake move over from the other side of the group to stand next to me. I pretended not to notice him.
"Hey Lex" he said, tapping me on the shoulder.
I turned to him and he gave me the most welcoming smile and held his arms out to hug me.
I laughed and wrapped my arms around his body. His top smelt like protein powder and dogs. I missed that smell.
"Hey Jake" I said into his chest.
This ended up being longer than a standard hug.
"Hey guys! They'll be plenty of time for catch ups on the boat, let's go!" Ashley announced.
All of Black Veil Brides helped their partners climb aboard. CC held Tegan in his arms, as I'm assuming his wife loaded on Seth. Jinxx and his wife Sammi fussed over a little boy who looked about Tegan's age.
Riley was already up top, standing next to Ashley, being the perfect trophy wife with her black jean shorts and Ashley Purdy Fashion Inc bikini top.
Nate, Saxon, Juliet and Andy had already cracked open some beers and sat in the seated area.
Jake stayed by my side and held a hand out for me to pull myself up.
"Thanks" I said.
His smile almost melted my heart. He was more gorgeous than I remembered.
Me and Jake found a spot on the side of the boat. Dangling our legs over the ledge and hanging on to the rail while Ashley took it out of the dock.
"So how have you been? Really?" He asked after we'd been quiet for a few minutes.
"Umm, been okay. It was nice spending some time alone in Malibu. Coming here might have been too soon, but it's not what I expected."
"Why's that?" He asked with a look of confusion coming over his face.
"Oh, umm, Parker said he still loves me and wants to get back together, but I don't want too..." I trailed.
"I thought you loved him?"
"I did... But I can't look at him the same anymore. How do I know he's not gonna hurt me again?" I shrugged, not really expecting an answer from Jake. "I have no idea what we're gonna do... the band will fall apart if me and Parker can't get along."
"Is he giving you a hard time?" Jake asked with concern.
"Kinda... I'm hoping he'll get over it and that we'll just go back to being friends" I shrugged. "What about you? What happened with you and Inna?" I asked after Jake didn't say anything.
"Ohh, umm, nothing happened, it just ended... We weren't right for each other I think" he cleared his throat.
"Why do you think that?" I questioned.
"I don't know..." he wondered, gazing out onto the horizon.
"Hmm."
Splashes of water hit our bare legs as it sprayed up and over the side of the boat. Jake's leg would sway over every so often and graze mine. It made me want to hold his hand.
"Hey, umm, do you think we would have worked out if I hadn't fucked it up?" I said, wrapping my hands tighter around the railing.
"Hmm, you're asking some hard questions today..." he commented.
"Oh come on, they're not that hard. Would you feel better if I answered first?" I pressed.
As the words flowed out my mouth I wondered why I was asking hard questions. Did I want to get back together with Jake?
"Sure. Do you think we would have worked out?" He asked, placing his sunglasses on his head and squinting to look at me.
"I think we could have" I said simply.
"Why?"
"Cause we get along. You make me smile like no one else has. And..." I stopped to seriously think about what I was gonna say next. Cause if I did, it was pretty much an invitation to start dating again. "And I changed... I'm not the same person. Part of the reason why I changed was because of you. I never wanted to lose someone I loved, ever again."
