Novocaine Hearts

Lexa's POV

I was on cloud nine and it felt amazing.
It made me forget all the reasons I stopped doing this.
Myself and Juliet clung to our partners, staring at them with affection.
"I mean, look at how blue his eyes are!" She cooed, touching my arm, but still gazing at Andy.
"Nahh, Jake has these gooey, melty, brown eyes that remind me of chocolate lava cake" I contradicted.
"But look at this jawline" she continued, stroking Andy from his ear to his chin.
The movement caught his attention and he looked at Juliet.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Wonderful" she smiled sweetly.
Andy gave her a look of confusion, but resumed his conversation with Ashley.
"Jules! Jake's muscles!" I said grasping Jake's arm.
We both giggled, no sure where we were going with this conversation.
I noticed Riley sitting on the other side of Ashley, talking to Nate.
"Hey, I wonder what Nate and Riley are talking about" I said nudging Juliet's arm.
"No idea and who cares! Let's not talk about Riley. I'm so sick of hearing it! 'Riley has anxiety, Riley is so stressed out. Riley won't talk' blah blah blah! I'm over Riley! Honestly, the girl needs to grow up!" Juliet ranted.
"Isn't she like you best friend?" I questioned.
"Oh, yeah, but sometimes I hate her."
"Really? Shouldn't she hate you?"
Juliet was about to say something, but stopped herself and thought some more.
"You know, I never realised that she never hated me... I mean, she found out Andy cheated on her with me, and she actually took it out on Andy. She did the rational thing and didn't waste her time..." Juliet wondered.
"See, you have no right to hate her. You stole her man and everything" I clarified.
"Hmm... Do you want a joint?" She asked suddenly.
"What?! You have weed?!" I tried to say quietly, but the music drowned me out.
"Let's go outside" Juliet said, pointing to the door.
We squeezed passed Jake and my other band members and rushed for the exit.
Juliet strolled over to the edge of the building so we were out of direct sight and pulled out 2 perfectly rolled joints.
"Oh my God! I haven't smoked weed in such a long time! Ohhh, my old friend how I've missed you!" I said smelling the joint.
"Hey, are you guys having a smoke without me?!" Riley asked as she neared us.
Juliet tried to hide her joint, but she saw mine anyways.
"Lexa, what the fuck are you doing with that?" She accused.
"Jules gave it to me" I said simply, but Juliet slapped me.
"Juliet?" Judgment oozing from Riley's tone.
"Yes Riley, I do weed. You're not the only who has dabbled in illegal substances" she shot, making it sound like it was a competition.
"Hey, do what you want. Lexa, I suggest you don't smoke that" she said sternly.
I looked down at it. The way the paper felt between my fingers, I missed it.
I heard the click of a lighter and saw Juliet put her joint between her lips. She then lit mine.
"I can't waste it now" I shrugged.
Riley shook her head in disgrace and pulled out one of her own cigarettes and smoking it away from us.
I took my first hit and it was like I was being welcomed back into the universe.
"Ohh man! I've been missing out" I breathed. "So how does a nice girl like you smoke weed?" I asked Juliet out of curiousity.
"Hmm, hobby. Something I do in my down time. I'm just one of those people that can quit cold turkey. And I thought you could use some fun" she grinned.
"Ha, yeah, this is the only time. I'll get hooked to this shit. Nate is gonna be pissed."
"Dude, you have to stop worrying about what they think!"
"They're my band mates. I do worry" my tone dropping as fast as my mood.
I watched the smoke billow from the tip, causing the scent to fill the air. I reluctantly dropped it to the ground and butted it out. "Don't ever ask me to do drugs with you again" I said with dead seriousness.
"Babe, chill. No pressure. I would never make you do something you don't want to" she smirked and butted out her own. "Let's go get a drink."

The alcohol, ecstasy and weed coursing through my veins made my judgment very off. I tried to ride it out with Juliet before returning to the group, but the ecstasy was at it's peak.
We joined the group, sitting between Andy and Jake once again.
Riley looked over at us with a face full of shame. I wondered if she had said anything to the others.
No one seemed to pay attention to us, so maybe not.
As Jake was in a deep conversation with Parker, I cuddled up to his side and started to kiss his neck.
"Lex, what are you doing, you minx" Jake said cheekily.
"I'm horny and I want to please you" I smiled.
Jake's face was happy for a moment, but then it turned sour.
"Have you been smoking pot?" He asked critically.
"What, no..." I denied.
"Is that why you went outside?" His voice sounding shaky.
"I-it's not what you think... Juliet just gave me a hit... That's it" I tried to say calmly.
"Don't blame Juliet. I thought you didn't do this stuff anymore?!" Anger slowly showing in his voice.
"I don't! I swear! One time thing!"
"Yeah, that's what everyone says."
"Jake please, I'm trying" I said kissing his shoulder.
"Who else knows about this?"
"No one."
Jake shook his head, "I should have never left."
