Novocaine Hearts

Jake's POV

The next week myself, Ashley, Riley, Andy and Juliet drove up to San Francisco to hang out with Novocaine Hearts.
I had really been missing Lexa. It was driving me crazy. There would be times where I wouldn't see Ella for months, but with Lexa, every day felt like a year.
As I was deep in thought I could hear intense conversation between Ashley and Andy about our next project. I wanted to ignore it because this was suppose to be our time off, but I was soon drug into the conversation.
"Jake, what do you think?" Andy said, looking at expectantly.
"About what?" I said cluelessly.
They both just looked at me.
"I haven't been listening and honestly I don't care, so can you both shut up" I said with annoyance.
They both stayed silent, unsure of why I was in a mood.
"Aww, poor Jake, he misses his girl. That's why he is so cranky" Juliet cooed.
I felt my cheeks flush with heat.
"Look, he's blushing" Andy pointed out.
"Shut up!" I said, hitting his arm, but it only made me feel warm.
"Can you all shut up! I'm on the phone!" Riley screeched.
"Who is she talking to?" I heard Juliet ask.
"One of the producers. They didn't like the spin we put on 'Is It Just Me?' and they want us to redo it" Ashley said while rolling his eyes.
"Ouch, that sucks" Juliet commented.
"Yeah, it does, cause we spent hours trying to get it right and now it was basically a waste" Ashley shrugged.
I started to tune them out again, purely cause I didn't want to talk music. I wanted to be with Lexa.

Lexa's POV

Our apartment doorbell buzzed and sweat immediately beaded on my neck.
"They're here!" Parker chimed.
He ran over to the door and buzzed them up.
I just sat awkwardly on the couch.
"Aren't you excited to see Jake?" Parker asked with a wide smile.
"Uhh yeah, just really nervous."
"Why?"
"I don't know. I haven't seen him in 2 weeks, what if his feelings have changed for me?" I stressed.
"Well he's made the 5 hour drive to come see you, so I doubt he'd do that if he was breaking up with you" Parker explained.
"I suppose" I sighed.
Not a moment later we heard the elevator door ding and Parker rushed to open our front door.
"Hey guys!" He yelled and sprinted down the hall.
I laughed and shook my head. I got up off the couch and strolled into the doorway, and there was Jake.
"Hi" I whispered.
"Hey" he smiled.
I felt every bit of my insides melt at the sight of his face. All I wanted to was kiss him.
As the thought crossed my mind, Jake's lips were on mine. soft, but almost desperate.
He pulled away, but kept our foreheads close. "God I missed you so much" he ushered.
"I miss you too."
"Get a room you two!" Juliet said, bumping us on the into my apartment.
"We will later" I called.
I watched everyone pile into the apartment, but Riley remained in the hall.
"Riley! Get your ass inside!" I said playfully.
She turned to me and pointed to her phone at her ear.
I rolled my eyes. "Now!"
"One sec" she mumbled into her phone. "I'm on the fucking phone! I'm trying to make a God damned record and I need to talk to my producer!" She yelled.
My face dropped. I went to say something, but I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Ashley.
"I got it" he said simply. "Riles, give me the phone" he sighed as he stood in front of her.
I could see Riley didn't want to, so instead she said.
"I've got to go. I'll talk to you when I'm in private" and slipped the phone in her pocket. "Happy now?" She said sarcastically and stormed into my apartment.
Ashley sighed in frustration again and mumbled something under his breath.
"Okay, so, what are we doing tonight?" Parker asked as we all sat down.
"Getting drunk... Please" Riley said, obviously on edge from the phone call.
I noticed Ashley roll his eyes, but said nothing.
"Yes! Let's get cocktails!" Juliet chimed.
Me and Parker looked at each other.
"We know the perfect place."

Apple was our favourite cocktail place in downtown San Fran. It was known to have one of the strongest long island ice teas around.
I sat between Juliet and Riley, all of us clutching to our overly sour cocktail.
"So, I haven't had a chance to talk to you since Warped... How are you?" I asked Riley. Juliet also very intrigued.
"I'm fine. Just trying to push through work. I don't know, maybe I should go back to modelling. Stay out of the music scene; it's really putting a strain on me and Ashley. I feel like he resents me" she whined and took a long swig of her drink, draining the liquid.
"The first major album is always tough, but you'll get through it. You can't give up at the first sight of weakness" Juliet encouraged.
"Yeah, but Andy helped you, didn't he?" Riley contradicted.
"Yeah, so?"
"So, I don't really want Ashley's help, I want to do this on my own, but Ashley sees me struggling and tries to help. This whole process is such a mess" she sighed.
"Just take a break. You're obviously not ready to do something this big" I commented.
"Are trying to say I can't do this?" Riley accused, sounding like I had offended her.
"No, I'm saying you've got a lot on right now" I said trying to smooth out my comment.
"Okay ladies, calm down. Here, I have something to relax us" Juliet smirked as she rifled through her tiny bag.
Riley gave her an odd look and I mirrored it. She soon produced 3 small blue pills.
"What the fuck is that?" Riley asked skeptically.
"Ecstasy. We need to chill" she explained.
"You need to put them away!" Riley ordered.
"Yeah, please Jules, the guys cannot see me taking that" I pleaded, trying to hide them.
"That's fine, we'll just go into the bathroom" she shrugged.
Part of me wanted to remember what it felt like to be on cloud nine, but the other part knew that this would be a horrible idea.
Juliet started to get up from the table and beckoned us to follow.
"You gonna go Riley?" I asked.
Riley shook her head. "I'm gonna go get a drink. Do what you want" she said flatly.
I looked at both of them, one was safer than the other. Shame I was always the girl to walk on the wild side.
"Coming Jules."
