Heart of Fire

I stare between her shoulder blades while she stalks out. I look back at Andy and I can tell he knows what I’m going to do before I do. Before the door shuts behind her I run to catch up. I mean, I’ve lost her once and if I can help it I don’t want that to happen again.

“Skylar!” I yell, hoping the wind doesn’t carry away my voice.

To my surprise, she whips her head around, parts of her red hair flowing across her face. I can’t make out it very well but in the pale light I can see her mouth, slightly turned up in the corners. She runs to me and buries her face into my chest, wrapping her arms around me.

“I knew you’d come.” She states, her face still in my t-shirt.

More confused than ever I place my hands around her waist. After all, it’s better having her than not. She leans back a bit and goes on her toes to kiss me. Everything is awakened in me and I can feel every point where our lips touch, she moves her hands to up around my neck. Her fingers dig into my spine.

I can’t help but feel guilty for being with her; she deserves someone without problems to weight her down. But, being selfish, I push that thought aside. Nothing matters, only now, only Skylar…
Her phone rings and we spring apart from each other like teenagers that were caught by their parents. She pulls it out of her back pocket and looks at it, “I’m sorry, it’s Hudson it might be important.”

She answers the phone and immediately her face drains all of its color. I feel a wrinkle form between my eyebrows. She closes her eyes and tilts her head back, “Okay, I’ll be right there.” She says and hangs up the phone.

“I’ve got to go; you can come if you want. There’s been an accident, with Jackson and he’s at the hospital.” I could tell she was trying to keep herself from crying.

I nodded my head, “Alright, lets go.”

i'm thinking of starting another fic, something a lot different than this but i'm not sure yet
