Heart of Fire

Finally we have another show and I’m ready to blow off some steam. After Ashley, everything started going downhill. First, I found out that the rent for the band’s apartment (yes we all live together and yes it’s pretty bad) was overdue so our great landlord dumped all of our stuff out. I’m not exactly sure how we were supposed to pay cause ya know we are on tour. So Hudson’s mom had to go pick everything up, which she is really amazing for that.

Then, somehow someway every single one of the band’s accounts got hacked. I thought someone was playing a joke on us, the chances of these things happening aren’t very high. Well I guess our landlord is pretty bad so that was bound to happen. We were only overdue by one day but that’s him. And of course this all had to happen within a day of each other.

Last but not least I cannot come up with any lyrics, even at the height of bad things happening. During my brooding I felt my phone vibrate. I pulled it out of my sweatshirt pocket and surprise, surprise it was Ashley:

Hey r u mad at me or something? I was thinking that we could pick up where we left off

Honestly I wasn’t exactly sure how to respond to that. He was so stupid I can’t believe he thinks it is okay for him to just leave me for another girl. I threw my phone onto the couch and went outside for a cigarette.

Just as I lit up I saw a man walking towards me, Jinxx. I inwardly sighed, he seems really nice but I just really did not want to talk to anyone at the moment. “Hey Skylar, are you doing anything right now?”

I lifted up my cigarette, “Smoking, why?”

“I thought we could go out to lunch, maybe talk about a few things.” He responded.

“Uh, yeah, sure. Just let me go get my phone I’ll be right out.”

He nodded and I went into the bus. My phone had about five more messages from Ashley on it but I ignored them. If he really wanted to settle things he would do it in person not over text, I felt like I was in middle school or something. I had always been a face to face person and if he couldn’t do that then screw him.

I came back out and we started walking to a burger and shake kind of place around the corner. Jinxx cleared his throat, “I’m sorry if this is kind of weird but you just seemed cool and I couldn’t deal with Ashley anymore.”

“What do you mean? Wait, do I even want to know?”

“You probably don’t but you have no choice I’m going to tell you anyway. He hasn’t stopped talking about you. You guys haven’t texted in what, two days?”

I sighed again I didn’t really want to talk about him but there was obviously no way getting around it, “Honestly I’m really done with him. He’s not faithful and I don’t know not really my type anymore.”

We arrived at the restaurant, “Is that why? What did he do know?”

“He was with this girl at a party and they seemed like they were pretty close.” I said ordering my food.

“What, really? He’s never a cheater; he’s very strict about that in relationships.”

“Well he wasn’t at the party. There was this wasted brunette girl, and you know the rest.”

“Wait…are you talking about Angela? She’s like a sister to him and I don’t think he would ever get that desperate…”

“How could you know?”

“Well for starters Ashley would never dream of being with a brunette.”

Wow. I am so stupid. It just didn’t seem to add up though he didn’t even introduce me to her or anything. He was so suspicious about it, it was almost like he was entranced by her or something. It just seemed so strange.

Our relationship didn’t seem very good I was so dependent on him. I couldn’t function without thinking about him. I didn’t want to be in a relationship with him. It was too dangerous for my sanity, I couldn’t do it. I still wanted to show him that he needed me more than I needed him. It was pretty selfish, but I wanted him to show me he really cared about me.
