Madison's P.O.V

I was busy in my office doing some work, I’m Alternative Press editor in chief and I’m always trying to keep everything updated. I’m told by my friends that I work too much but that’s because I want to offer the best to the public, I was feeling extremely tired and I desperately needed a break but I had to finish this work for tomorrow.

“How’s the most beautiful girl in the entire world doing?” my boyfriend Nicholas asked as he walked into my office, my door is always opened so he didn’t need to knock.
“Hi, sweetheart” I said as I stood up from my seat, walked towards him and kissed him deeply. “I’m doing fine”
“I’m glad, my love” he said as he handed me the coffee he had bought for me. “Feeling stressed?”
“A little bit, honey” I said. “How’s Aaliyah, where’s my baby girl?”
“She’s playing at the lobby”
“I want to see her” I said as I walked out of my office and walked towards the lobby to find my 5 year old daughter sitting there playing with her teddy bear. “Hi, my love”
“Mommy” she said as she ran towards me, I picked her up and kissed her cheek.
“How are you princess?”
“I’m okay”
“What you had for breakfast?”
“Pancakes!”
I smiled and kissed her cheek, “You don’t feel dizzy anymore?”
“No mommy”
I smiled as I looked into her eyes, I got lost in them because they’re so beautiful and they remind me of her dad.
“This princess and I are heading to the park, will you join us?” Nick asked as he took Aaliyah from my arms.
“I don’t know, my love”
“Please mommy” she said as she made her famous puppy face.
I smiled, “Fine, just let me save what I’m doing okay?”
“Yay!” she said as she clapped. “I love you, mommy”
“I love you too, my love” I said as I kissed her cheek and went back to my office, I saved the document I was working on and turned the computer off, I was going to work on it later, right now all I wish to do is spend time with my boyfriend and daughter.
I went back to the lobby and we headed towards the park, Nick let Aaliyah down and she ran towards the swings while we took a seat at a bench.
“She’s happy that you decided to come”
“I know...I don’t spend much time with her”
“You don’t spend time with me either” he said as he took my hand.
“Nick, after what you did to me…how you expect me to be the same?”
“I love you, Madison…I really do and I don’t know what happened to me, okay?”
“I’m still hurt but I love you too and I’m working so hard on forgiving you” I said. “I’m doing it for me and for Ali because she loves you and she’s used to having you here all the time”
“I love her too, even if she’s not my daughter”
“If you don’t want her, just say it” I said as I pulled my hand away from him.
“I do want her”
“It seems you don’t because you’re always bringing up the fact that she’s not yours” I said. “But you know what? She doesn’t need a father to be happy and I don’t need a man”
I stood up and walked towards my daughter, Nick was calling after me but I didn’t want to look back at him.
“Violette, let’s go” I said, my daughter grabbed her bear and walked towards me, I took her hand and we started walking far away from Nick, we got in a cab and we headed home.

Next day, 9:30 a.m.
I wasn’t in the mood to go to work today, so I decided to stay home with my baby girl who woke up early for some reason. I was in the kitchen making breakfast when she walked in.
“Morning, mommy”
“Morning sweetheart…want chocolate milk?” I asked.
“Yes, please”
I smiled as I opened the fridge, got the chocolate milk and pour it into her cup, “Here you go”
“Thank you”
“You’re welcome”
“Mom, are you mad at Nick?”
I was shocked that she asked that question, I really try to hide my emotions and situations from my daughter because I don’t want it to affect her.
“No honey, why?”
“I know you are…why?”
“Because he’s not good to me, love but he can still visit if you want him around”
“No”
“No?”
“If he’s not good for you, then he’s not good for me”
I smiled, “But you love him?”
“No, he was mean to me once”
“He was mean?”
“Yes”
“Why you didn’t tell me?”
“Because I didn’t want you to fight”
“I don’t ever want you to hide things from me, okay?”
There was a long, long silence…my daughter answers quickly, why she’s not answering? I turned around to look at her and she had a napkin to her nose and it was full of blood.
“Honey, what happened?” I asked as I walked towards her, concern was clear in my voice.
“Nothing” she said, her voice sounding muffled.
“Did you get hurt?”
She shook her head, “I just started bleeding, mommy”
“Let’s go to the hospital” I said as I grabbed her hand and made my way towards her bedroom.
I started to pack some clothes, toys and everything I possibly thought she would need.
I changed her into a blue dress, got changed myself and we made our way out of the apartment and to the hospital.

4 hours later, 1:30 p.m.
I was walking back and forth in my daughter’s room waiting for the doctor to come back. The bleeding stopped and they had to run some test, she didn’t want blood to be drawn and she was really scared, but I grabbed her hand and calmed her down and after it, she fell asleep.
I took a look at how peaceful she looked and smiled, I didn’t even notice the doctor was in the room until he called my name.

“Ms. Wright?” he said. “Can you please join me?”
I nodded as I followed him out of the room, “Is everything okay with my daughter?”
“I’m sorry for the words I’m about to say, Ms. Wright but Aaliyah has cancer”
When those words left his mouth I broke down and that’s when I knew my worst nightmare was just starting.
