I let my fingers linger over the red button for a moment, feeling the smooth surface and pondering what I should do.

“Just push the fucking button!” Jinxx’s voice echoed against three of the walls of the room briefly before escaping the space not occupied by a 4th.

“Don’t do it.” Andy’s eyes darted around the room, pensively observant.

“Get it over with.” Ashley scoffed, leaning against one of the walls. “The brightness is starting to hurt my eyes.”

Jinxx’s laughter began to fill the room. “Or you could find me.” He laughed the words.

“When I find you Jinxx…” Andy paused and shook his head, grinning deviously.

I took my hand away from the button. “I can’t decide.” I raised my hands in the air.

“I will.” Ashley punched the button angrily.

“Nuh-uh.” Jinxx’s voice filled the room again. “It doesn’t work that way.”

Andy continued glaring at the corner of the ceiling, seemingly the source of Jinxx’s voice.

“The button does nothing.” Andy balled his fists and depressed the button again. “See?”

“CC has to press it.” Jinxx’s voice crawled gently into my ear and trembled its way into my brain.

I’d kept my eyes fixated on the button until everyone else in the room began to shift impatiently. We’d searched all over for hours and there wasn’t a way out. Not a simple one.

I did a 180 and ran the way we’d come from, as fast as my feet would carry me before anybody else could follow me. As soon as I left three walled room with the red button a wall arose from the floor to the ceiling.

“Bad choice CC.” Jinxx whispered. “Divide and conquer.” His voice faded.

I kicked the wall to no avail. “Guys?!” I yelled. I couldn’t hear anything and was trapped in a long white walled hallway with nothing around to look at.
