After a few minutes I heard footsteps from far away, slowly making their way toward me. The sound of footsteps growing louder but nobody coming into focus became maddening. “I hear you Jinxx!” I shouted, trying to sound more scary than afraid.

“Are you sure about that?” He appeared in the distance down the narrow hallway, too far to dash toward without the chance of some wall coming up or the floor suddenly rushing out from underneath me.

His image projected onto both walls on either side of him. “Tell you what.”He said, taking two steps closer.

The popup wall disappeared from behind me, but Andy, Ashley, and Jake were gone without a trace.

“You have one more chance to push the button.” Jinxx said.

I walked back to the button; Jinxx stepped closer but kept himself at a distance.

I ran my hand over the button again, carefully weighing my options out before making a move.

I inhaled sharply a split second before I decided to lunge toward Jinxx. He waved slowly as the 4th wall popped up again, dividing us. I was left alone in the room.

“What if I made this easier for you?” He whispered enticingly.

“No thanks.” I scoffed. “I don’t like easy.”

He was silent for a long time before I began to lose patience and considered apologizing. I knew this game; he wanted to prove his power over me because I had something he wanted. What could he possibly have wanted from me?

“You look like you’re deep in thought.” He observed.
