Between The Roses

As I grew up, I wished upon every star I could that I would be able to literally stay in bed all day and not have to do anything for myself except go to the bathroom. Now, it is a pain in my ass. Being ordered to be on bedrest for three weeks has really been getting on my nerves. Luckily it is going on the third week of this bedrest thing and I will be able to get up soon and do things for myself. Currently I was curled up on my bed with my laptop on Andy’s side of the bed watching The 100.

From on top of the dresser I heard my phone begin to vibrate spastically and make a noise. A groan left my mouth as I paused my show and climbed out of the bed to grab the phone. When I sat back down and covered myself back up, I looked at the screen. Two missed calls from Lauren. What the hell does she want? I dialed her number and put the phone to my ear and waited. As I looked around the room while I waited for her to answer, I watched Andy walk into the room, put something into one of the drawers of the dresser and then come sit next to me.

“Finally you respond,” I heard my sister answer.

“Sorry if my phone was on the other side of the room and I’m technically not supposed to be walking around. What’s up?” I asked.

“I was wondering if you and Andy could watched Cienne and Claus for me tonight,” she began and then waited for me to answer.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because, Matt and I are going to go out for the night and won’t be back until late. If we were only gone for like three hours, I’d let Cienne just watch herself and Claus, but since it will be more than three hours I need someone else to watch them,” she explained and I sighed as I leaned over onto Andy’s shoulder.

“I guess,” I told her and she chuckled.

“I can tell you are just enjoying this bedrest situation,” she chuckled once again and I pouted.

“Oh yeah, I absolutely love the fact that I have to be laying in this bed all day and night and have to have other people do things for me. It’s a blast,” I rolled my eyes as I spoke. From beside me I felt Andy chuckle before he kissed the top of my head.

“Oh come on, making your husband do everything for you is the dream,” she laughed and I smiled.

“I mean it was for the first week, but now it’s just boring and I wanna do things for myself,” I told her and she sighed.

“I understand,” she told me. “I’ll call you when I’m leaving my house to bring the kids over, okay?”

“Whatever,” I shrugged and bit the inside of my cheek.

“See you later Sadee. Make Andy go get you ice cream or something,” she chuckled before hanging up. I dropped my phone into my lap and looked up at Andy.

“What did Lauren want?” He asked.

“How did you know it was Lauren?” I asked.

“Your sister does not talk quietly,” he smiled and I rolled my eyes before I laid back on the pillows.

“We’re watching Cienne and Claus tonight,” I told him and he nodded.

“I figured. Are you gonna come downstairs and rest on the couch or vegetate up here?” He looked at me and I pursed my lips.

“Um, I think I’m gonna come downstairs, see some new scenery. After this whole bedrest shit is done, we are doing some serious redecorating of this room,” I told him and he busted out laughing.

“Alright Nashville,” he stood from the bed and stretched.

“You have not called me that in over a year,” I smiled at him.

“I know,” he shrugged and then walked around the bed and into the bathroom. I uncovered my legs and grabbed my laptop from the bed. Just as I was about to stand to walk downstairs, Andy walked out of the bathroom and raised an eyebrow at me.

“I am going downstairs. Don’t give me that look,” I narrowed my eyes at him and he rolled his eyes before walking up in front of me.

“Let me carry the laptop,” he said as he held a hand out.

“I can do it myself you know? I’m sure my doctor will not be mad if I carry it downstairs. It’s like five pounds,” I looked up at him and he shrugged.

“Are you sure?” He asked as he crossed his arms.

“Let me do this one thing for myself. I wanna feel like an adult again,” I pouted and he smiled.

“Alright. I’ll go make dinner. What are you hungry for?” He asked.

“Um, Ravioli,” I answered and he smiled before leaning down and kissing me.

“Ravioli it is. Come on Nashville,” he held his hand back out and I grabbed it. When I was standing, I grabbed the laptop off my bed and followed Andy down the stairs. Andy went off into the kitchen and I made myself comfortable on the couch, my laptop on my lap.

The house was quiet without the constant sound of kids playing. Callum moved out about a week ago and it has made the house silent. Suddenly I saw Crow standing in my face as he was on the arm of the couch. He meowed and rubbed his head on mind.

“Hey to you too sir,” I scratched under his chin and he began to purr loudly. A sigh left my chest and I looked around the room. With the house being so quiet, I could hear everything Andy was doing, which included humming to himself some sort of tune I’m not too sure about. A smile spread across my face as I listened. Since finding out I was pregnant, Andy has been really cheery and really willing to do everything for me. Part of me thinks he is the one who is overly excited about it. The sudden feeling of something appearing next to me tore my from my thoughts. When my eyes finally focused, I noticed that Andy was sitting next to me.

“What are you thinking about?” He asked and I raised my eyebrows.

“Hmm?” I asked and he turned to face me.

“What are you thinking about? You were spacing out hardcore,” he chuckled and I shrugged.

“Nothing too important really, just how sick I am of being on bedrest,” I smiled and he chuckled again.

“You have six more days and then you go to the doctor. You can make it,” he smiled at me as he ran his hand down my shin towards my foot.

“But that is six days of laying down, watching Netflix, making you do everything for me,” I whined and he laughed.

“You’ll be fine. When is Lauren bringing Cienne and Claus over?” He asked and I sighed.

“I think at like six,” I shrugged and he nodded.

“You know, I keep thinking that we’re gonna have a kid here in like seven months,” he looked over at me and I smiled.

“I know. And in those seven or so months I get to swell to become a beach ball and be super irritable and hormonal and mean,” I spoke and he sighed.

“Well I guess I will have to learn to not get on your nerves,” he shrugged and I nodded.

“I guess you will,” I smirked and watched him. He is so excited about this. I remember back when we first met and the kind of person and kind of place he was in. Being married and having kids was never a thought that crossed his mind at that time. Now, just five short years later, we are married and having a kid. I know that I never really thought of having children because I was always scared that I would end up like my mother; caring more about my career than my child. But Andy has reassured me time and time again that I am fantastic with kids and that he knows that I would never leave our child, partially because he wouldn’t let me, and partially because he knows how protective I was of him a few years back. Maybe this will be a good thing. Maybe I’ll actually like it.

Welcome back once again. It has been a few days since the last update, but here is a new chapter! I have quite a few things planned with not only Sadee but a few other characters. I hope you guys stick around to see it. :3
