Between The Roses

Disasterology

Soft rock music played through the speakers in the background and quiet chatter amongst people floated into my ears. Around my waist was one of Andy’s arms as he stood behind me. Tonight was the second sold-out night at The Forum and I was more than pumped to play. Well, actually I was feeling weird and a little off but excited nonetheless. Zara sat with her boyfriend on the couch and both Callum and Brett were talking off to the side. I leaned my head back on Andy’s chest and sighed.

“What’s up?” I heard Andy ask me in a voice just above a whisper.

“I’m tired,” I shrugged and he chuckled before kissing the side of my head.

“Well you played a sold-out show last night. It’s reasonable to be tired,” he told me and I bit the inside of my cheek.

“I know, I’m just really tired, like more than usual,” I said and he rubbed my arm with his free hand.

“You’ll be fine,” he reassured me and I nodded. The two of us then grew silent. From the entrance to the room I heard someone come walking in and then clap to get our attention.

“Alright guys. Another sold-out night here at The Forum. The crowd is pumped after the opener and I hope you guys are ready for this. I expect there to be a few encore songs so, pace yourselves while on stage, okay?” I heard Matt ask and we all grunted our agreements. I took a step away from Andy and turned to face him.

“You gonna watch from side stage or chill here?” I asked and he looked at me with his eyebrows raised.

“Side stage definitely,” he told me before he walked forward and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. The two of us walked out of the room and towards the stage. Suddenly as we walked I felt this queasy sensation wash over me and I had to take a few deep breaths as we were walking.

“Here you go Mrs. Biersack,” I heard and then saw a mic being held out in front of me.

“Thanks,” I muttered and swallowed, dizziness washing over me as well.

“Hey, Sadee, are you okay?” I heard a voice ask but I couldn’t quite figure out who it belonged to.

“What?” I asked and turned my head towards the voice but felt myself become unsteady. A pair of arms wrapped around me to keep me from falling.

“Sadee, look at me,” I heard the voice again but my mind wasn’t focused on that. My eyes felt heavy and before I knew it, I was out.

+++++

The sound of an incessant beeping was all I could focus on as my eyes fluttered open. The second they opened, I blinked a few times before looking around the room. Andy was sitting in a chair next to me on his phone. Zara, Lettie, Callum, and Lauren all sitting in various chairs around the room. Lauren looked up at me and raised her eyebrows.

“Hey, Sadee, you’re awake,” my sister spoke up and that forced everyone to turn and face me. I felt my hand being grabbed.

“Yeah,” I mumbled and shifted in the bed. It registered in my mind then that I was in the hospital.

“How are you feeling?” I heard Andy ask from beside me.

“Weird. What happened?” I asked.

“You passed out just before we were supposed to go on stage,” Zara told me and I swallowed.

“Oh,” I answered and Zara smiled.

“The doctor said you were dehydrated for one, and that you hadn’t been eating enough the last few days. Are you okay Sadee?” Lauren asked me in a concerned voice.

“I’m fine. When we have shows I don’t always remember to eat three meals a day okay?” I snapped at her and she sighed.

“What else did the doctor say?” I asked and Lauren looked over at Andy, which forced me to look over at him. He cleared his throat and looked up at me.

“Uh, well, he said you’re pregnant Sadee,” he told me and my eyes immediately widened and my eyebrows raised.

“I’m what?” I asked.

“Pregnant,” he repeated and I stared into his eyes. My mind flew off into thousands of directions. I can’t be pregnant, not right now. Not at the place I’m at in my career. We have so much planned.

“What did, uh, Matt say about me passing out?” I looked at Callum and Zara.

“He obviously cancelled the show and rescheduled it for a later date that he hasn’t told us yet,” Callum answered and I nodded.

“Why hasn’t he told you the date yet?” I asked.

“Uh, well, because your doctor said you have to be on bedrest for the next three weeks because you are high risk right now,” Callum explained and I sighed.

“Of course I am,” I muttered and felt Andy rub his thumb over my hand.

“Look, why don’t the four of us give you and Andy some time to talk about everything?” Lauren suggested and then the four of them began walking out of the room. Once they were out and the door was closed, I turned to Andy.

“How far along did the doctor say I am?” I asked and Andy looked at his hands.

“Like ten weeks,” he said and I nodded.

“Are we happy about this or?” I asked and he looked up at me.

“Why wouldn’t we be?” He asked.

“I just. Both of us are at important places in our careers and having a kid right now seems counter intuitive,” I sighed and he stood from the chair he was in and took a seat on the bed next to me.

“Sadee, I know that it seems that way but, we’re in our later twenties and we’re married. Your band isn’t really recording anything right now and my band is still in the beginning process of making the new record. We want to spend time on this one, like the others. I’m happy about this, are you?” He asked and I sighed.

“I mean, yeah. But, I never really had a good mom to show me what a mom does. I don’t know if I’ll be a good mom Andy,” I said and he smiled at me.

“Sadee, have you not seen yourself with not only your niece and nephew but both of Callum’s kids? You are fantastic with them,” he told me and I bit the inside of my lips.

“We’re having a kid,” I stated and he laughed.

“We are,” he told me and I sighed.

“It’s a good thing Cal’s moving out,” I joked and Andy busted out laughing.

“It is,” he rolled his eyes before standing. I scooched over on the bed and patted down next to me. He sighed while looking at me before he climbed in next to me and I curled into his chest.

“How long do I have to stay in this place?” I asked.

“Over night,” he responded as he ran his hand through my hair.

“You’re staying up here with me, right?” I looked up at his face and he raised an eyebrow.

“Why?” He asked.

“Cause I don’t wanna be alone, that’s why,” I sassed at him and he kissed my forehead.

“Yes, I’m staying up here with you,” he told me and I smiled as I curled into his chest again. We grew silent after that, just kinda laying there. Part of me is really excited to be having a baby with Andy, but the other part of me is really terrified and fearful that I’m going to screw it up. I guess that’s what I get for having a mom who was as shitty as mine was.

Notes

Another new chapter for you all! I really hope you enjoyed it! I threw in a bombshell at you all and I am happy about it. In the true fashion of Sadee Christian, now Biersack, it will definitely not go smoothly. There are also a few more things I am planning to go wrong in this little universe I created. So stay tuned. :3
